to permanently and unpleasantly end your relationship with a person or organization Welles had burned his bridges so badly with the movie studios that they laughed when you mentioned his name.
Etymology: based on the military action of burning a bridge you have just crossed to prevent the enemy from crossing it after you
@housebitchrules Actually, I think it is (was) to prevent your _own_ army from retreating.. they'll _have_ to fight and beat the enemy to survive. (Might be related to that armies sometimes have been forcefully recruited, so the soldiers motivation might not have been on top to begin with...)
Do you all know what that statement: Burning bridges means? I've heard many people say when they get mad at someone: You've done burned your bridges, and they don't even know what it means. Who would agree with me that burning your bridges means that you burn your bridges so your enemies cannot cross over after you. And that's what Jani is singing about. I've been listening to Jani Lane for several years. I wish i could have met the man. Awesome voice, Beautiful Man, & so many talents~RIP~ Jani
you know, its funny how many people are just now figuring out about this album. its sad that it took jani's death for some people to get past cherry pie. but i guess that happens with great artists sometimes. i always wanted to meet him so i could tell him how much his songs meant to me. and its bullshit when people say stuff like "ya this sounds different cuz grunge was in." this is the same stuff as on their other albums. just listen to mr. rainmaker. ya its slightly darker but he was hurting.
he had to be talking about himself, even the name : "jimmy" sounds pretty much like "jani" :( all my love to you wherever you are, ill never forget you brother. RIP. Jani
@MusicalDarkHorse dog eat dog is from the 90s not from the 80s... thats why it sound so different from the first 2. And yes, is a great album, a master piece. R.I.P. Jani
@victorthegroover Actually Cherry Pie is from the 90s too, and much of the material on Cherry Pie is far more mature in songwriting than the first album. Songs like Mr. Rainmaker, Uncle Tom's Cabin etc were a foreshadowing of the writing on Dog Eat Dog. Dog Eat Dog is a masterpiece of an album and it is a damn shame that Warrant became so known for Cherry Pie which is their worst song.
@savboy1976 yes i know... the whole Warrant history is a perfect example how much the industry, the market and the mass sucks... is the evidence that ppl has no taste at all, they just buy what the media tells them to buy. Same thing with Motley Crue/Motley Crue, Native tongue etc... great albums that came out at the wrong time. Dog ets Dog got to be standing there with the best rock records ever... probably is the best record ever made from all those bands from that time.
@victorthegroover n well yes, Cherry pie was out in 1990, but it was the 80s mentality n style, u know what i mean?... there was an evolution but in the same direccion...is great album tho. Even the cherry pie song is not bad, just fun... :)
One of the greatest shows I've ever seen was my first. Warrant, Lynch Mob, Tora Tora......... Went to see Lynch Mob and Tora Tora.... came out a big Warrant fan. Thought they were wussies like Poison, man was I wrong. Warrant knows how KicK ass. I've seen them a couple more times since with different lineups and they still put on a killer show, even when they had Jaime St. James. Too bad VH1 has to ride the Bret Michaels train......... Jani and Warrant are 10x singer songwriter and band
As far as I'm concerned, Cherry Pie never existed but 1 billion other people would post their BS about that. Dog Eat Dog was Warrant"s best album ever released. Just came out at the wrong time!!! @iceddust69
This was truley their BEST album they ever made though cherry pie and d.r.f.s.r.was good but every song on this one was GREAT. They have to bring Jani back
this whole album is one of the most underrated masterpieces, i mean if cherry pie went double platinum dog eat dog would have gone four times platinum...
this whole album is one of the most underrated masterpieces, i mean if cherry pie went double platinum dog eat dog would have gone four times platinum...
@TitanChance1: AMEN!! Fuck Kurt Cobain. I am glad he is dead and he deserved to fucking die. What a disgusting piece of filth he was. I am glad you oppose him.
i remember when they put this out they had changed their image to an all black leather street look.much as kiss did for revenge.i love this song and album and i feel it would have sold like hotcakes if it had been released in 1990-91.
AWESOME,warrant was very underated many many great riffs and songs,to bad jani can't keep it together long enough to tour consistently. But he still has his moments here and there
@iceddust69 i totally agree! Jani was THE BEST singer/song writer! and Warrant was one of the greatest! if not the greatest hair metal bands! i love these guys!!!
Graet song, never knew warrant were so good, so much better than cherry pie, shame the lable screwed them over when grunge came out and promoted Alice in Chains and gave nothing to warrant.
yep, come early 90's the record industry left all the hairmetal bands and major label thrash bands (testament, exodus) on the back burner so to speak....a lot of true talent went unsung in those dark days and the only people to blame are those dickless suits in the music biz.
Jani Lane in his prime, had the ability to write lyrics that told such a complete story in 3 in a half minutes, I am so envious of that kind of talent. My world was a better place for having grown up rocking out to his songs.
