awesome horse... sooo smooth! better than those jumpers who race around uncontrollably (no offense) and I don't know a whole ton about show jumping and how you should rate or hold back your horse but the way the rider shortened the horses stride in the last few strides before the last jump seemed to cause the rail down (in my oppinion...) could have just been tiredness/wide oxer though
Chris if you are reading this awesome horse I don't know what more to say awesome round nice and soft too bad about that rail tho. That horse has great knees. :-)
Chris kappler is amazing, he's so natural. His body hardly moves in the air and he's in no way "restrictive," those who say he is are idiots, did you watch him canter round before he started? hardly restrictive. He moves beautifully on a horse. Amanda ard or whatever, you wish you could ride as naturally as this man, plus any small fault could have caused a rail at this level. It's neither the horse nor Chris's fault and anyone who says different, i'd like to see you try this.
I agree with the mean comment statment. People think horses are stupid but there the most amazing creatures in the universe. I've got four. That jump round was amazing I wish my thoroughbred would tuck like that horse.
omg he or she cant tell is such a good rider ! i cant wait till i go to the olympics im just a jr. riding i ride a pony named sashay in pre cheldrens! from sashayluverxoxo
That last jump he should of just let the horse go at it. You can just tel;l the horse was like, Just let me do it just let me do it. ANd thats probably why he knocked a rail
i agree with tripplecombination the turn could have been a bit bigger. and i also agree with dressage2at it did look like at the last second he was very slow and deep in the jump. but cut him some slack these r big and wide jumps for sucka small tight arena in this case who cares about the time stay clear!! and ride carful this was tricky!lol
okay two things: NEVER is it a horses error, especially at this level! if he could feel his horse getting excited, he would have taken a wider turn to account for the lengthened strides. and two: Miss Future Olympian Amanda Ard doesnt know what shes talking about. Oranta has a pedigree that is world class, there is no chance of a horse of this calibre to lock its joints. Why would you even say that? And all you did was state the obvious.
His leg position above the jump is just perfect! His legs are so still not in the back of his neck like some riders! :-o
I think the rider had absolutely no mistake with the last jump he could choose ride back for a stride more or forward fot a stride less the horse miscaculated the jump a little too bad!
the horse knocked down that last jump with his hind legs...and the only reason he would do that is cuz of not opening the hind joints which he did so it wasn't cuz of that and he didn't turn in the air so it wasn't that so it must of been rider restriction and he was restricting him cuz he was rushing a little and so the rider got frustrated and wanted to gain controll so he made him really collected which in turn made him knock down the rail...i know im smart...lol
finally someone was adding some style to the jumper arena! this vis had 8207 hits...just goes to prove my point peopke aren't intrested in seeing you ride enless you ride good and in style :P
a lot of ppl say the horse knocking the rail was rider error but the reason he was pulling on the reins was to keep the horse's attention because the audience gets so damn loud the last few fences. Same thing happened at the Rolex 4 star in kentucky this year. People get too excited, cant stay quiet for 20 more seconds, and cost the riders rails when their horses lose focus. Its very frustrating. :P
he wasn't pulling back to get the horses attention he was half halting because it was a small space and he wouldn't of gone over with how fast and long his stride was around that corner, but instead of just shortening his stride he like made a dead stop and lost momentum
::cryyy:: that horse was soo graceful, controlled, relaxed... the problem everyone makes at this show it seems is holding the horse too much. If this horse is pushing, its cause he needs it! Give him a bit of head...
I remember Chris Kappler's 1st rides @ George Morris's now-legendary Hunterdon: On the ground he was a gawky, rather shy midwestern teenager with zits; but on a horse, he was magical. I left Hunterdon after graduationg from college 1980 -- only because I was getting married/moving to Texas -- but then I turned pro...& 15 years later, my student-protegé made the jump to Hunterdon and found that Chris is a great teacher, too~{{;›}~!!!
Beautiful horse, and a brilliant rider, they both just fly over the jumps, but , is it just me, or do the two just not look quite as together or 'as one' as say Laura chapot & LBM? Beautiufl to watch them though, wish i was tht good!
I've known Chris since he was 15; he is an unbelievably hard worker who deserves every bit of his hard-earned success...& if Chris and/or George happen to see this page, Betsie in Dallas sends love + hugs...
I rode in the Invitational back in the late 1970s -- probably before you were born, right? no, please don't tell me! -- it is sSO0o much fun to ride in that fabulous arena, it's great to be able to relive it vicariously @ YouTube~{{;›}~!!!
They are GOOD! Those jumps are scary haha:D
