When you play as Chinese, you build 1 house, research loom, 5 vills on berries then get 50 food form them, go to sheep and go from there. ya noob.

I used to play this game years ago. I was really disappointed by the third one.  I went on amazon to look up the mac version, and its $100. I don't understand why the PC version is $8 and the mac is so bumped up.

@ZanePrinceton Usually I put 2 villagers on stone in the Dark Age, but it can vary with what I'm trying to do. I'd put the stone miners if I wanted to reach the Castle Age quickly by selling stone at the market and then transition into a large economy. :)

i know they dont get walls and stuff, but man, they can crank out beastly and affordable champs in like no time at all!

if u are a beginner though, i would recommend getting used to byzantine, they are very very very well-rounded and their unique unit, cataphract, doesnt really have a solid counter.

I really feel like playing this game again. I played on a mac years ago. Unfortunately, the mac community was on the decline by the time I joined it. It was primarily skilled players who were veterans, and then me, who always sucked. I had to teach myself by observation, and eventually became good enough to compete with them and even beat them. But the mac community didn't last and eventually died out completely. Now that I've got a PC, playing multiplayer AoE II again is very tempting.

@Diabloscenter I think it might be because you didnt have a barraks. You need a barraks in order to make archeryranges and stables And you need a blacksmith for seige workshops.

@TheGreatSv I've got the same problem, unfortunately :( I always loved the age of empires music tracks, they are just plain legendary. Do you have the DVD version? By the way, I believe there is a site where you can download the music files and put them in your AoE folder, you should try that (didnt work with me, but maybe it works for you!)

@t3geek You can't see your teammate without cartography unless you are cheating or on All Visible.

@t3geek Your question has probably been answered already, but you also need to research cartography in order to get caravan to make trade carts faster :D (He didnt use them in this video, but usually you do have some trade carts i believe)

@Shakedatmoo Last time I checked, in the most recent patch I think they made is so bombard towers do ranged damage instead of melee damage so that Rams won't take much of a beating from them. However if you spam bombard towers I'm sure they'll get the job done anyway. :)

Question, before watching this video i played on black forest 3v3 and had the civ Chinese. I automatically assumed archers seeing that they specialize in Chu Ko Nu but once i got to Feudal age and then castle age i saw i couldn't make the archery building so i had a great economy with a high score and put out some pike men and long sword men then after that i was being attacked with calvary and got slaughtered should i of focused on making seigh workshops or stone to put out castles?

Chinese have very powerful archers in Conquerors. Their Chu Ko Nu combined with Arbalests and the Thumb Ring technology make them an extremely deadly archery civilization, if a little short-ranged.

@Ilumiknight Thanks for pointing that out. I'm usually a noob in random map games. I recall I time when I ran out of Stone to build a Castle, so I used all my Gold to get funds for a Castle. But then I discovered a huge Stone Mine near the outskirts of my town... basically I failed

@PrinceofRomeIV I almost always use Voobly :) I feel that Gameranger doesn't have a lot of skilled players and tends to be extremely finicky with my connection. :/

@TheHewkii All civs can rush pretty well. But I can't say there is a single one that rushes the best. There's definitely a few that stand out though. It would probably be the huns though for the best rush civ. Again they are all pretty equal but the no house bonus makes them so much more deadly early on. :)

just a quick tip. When you're using your archers agaisn't an army, put them on standard and patrol them. This keeps them in a small tight group that makes them more powerful. It's not so hot agaisnt onagars, but for early in the game it definately works.

I am experienced chinese player , and I really recommend the Chu Kon Hu or something like that , do all the upgrades from blacksmith and castle and for backup create cavaliers (with stable upgrades). Btw , could you please teach me how to play multyplayer?:P I have dreamed of it :D , thanks , nice vid

@timmu234 Google "Voobly" and download the client. Make sure you have the game installed, make an account, and get into "medieval siege". You can then join and host games that will launch automatically and are ranked.

Great vid Illumiknight! Since the last vid I've thought of 1 thing I'd like if you did, and that's switching between fog of war on and off. I like being able to see what players were able to see in game, it gives you a much better perspective.
