  • Bravissimo!

  • I think Tucker was an amazing technician, but it doesn`t makes sense for me this way to compare the things. Better, or not? Whatis better, Nutella or swiss chocolate. Oh, both have many calories and are very tastefull. Do you need more technique to make Nutella or Chocolate, I can´t figure out it, but who cares?

  • Also, Corelli proved to be an amazing technician during his carrer making many things that so many singers could only make with God´s praise and Nature. And who said that Tucker was better than Corelli? At first, I know some people that have sung with both of them and Corelli`s voice was really bigger.

  • @raphaelhudson you have to inform yourself better, because Corelli studied with Lauri-Volpi, for example, and, in that time in Italy many pianists could help a lot with technical stuff, so, as he worked and got experience he made also a nice technique. Other thing is that Corelli sang with many wonderfull singers at his time, and when you are rehearsing with good singers you can change ideas and learn a lot just watching.

  • Sublime Atlantov, dal vivo aveva una bellissima voce ! Grazie !

  • Great tenor, but why does he approach nearly every note from underneath? Love this song so much.

  • @Prolyrictenor

It is a technique favoured by some Italian signers like corelli. THe idea is that you establish the note below first and then slide up. This allows you to bring up more chest voice.

  • @raphaelhudson explains why Corelli was never as good as Richard Tucker.

  • @Prolyrictenor Big call- I don't agree.

  • @raphaelhudson Richard Tucker = Corelli with technique, it's very well documented that Corelli only had a few lessons and was then self taught. Yes, it's a wonderful voice but not as good a technique as Tucker in my opinion.

  • @raphaelhudson This isn't entirely accurate. With a weightier voice its more necessary to connect each interval of a phrase, giving the impression of legato or "coming from below". The technique still requires healthy support/moderation and vowel formation- in fact making these tools more strictly necessary.

  • @KissaMyEyes where did I say it doesn't?

  • Thank you for this wonderful post this a really great tenor!!!! BRAVO ATALNTOV.

  • Superb job by Atlantov, but the accompanist also deserves accolades. Who was he? Pity it doesn't mention him. I am playing this piece for a student in a recital, and it is fiendishly difficult.

  • You're right, I did neglect to mention the accompanist, so I'll rectify that now. The accompanist is Farida Khalilova, who does a very fine job on the entire album of Rachmaninov songs.

  • @BigTezza12

Could you link to said album if it is for sale anywhere?

  • I wish I could, but unfortunately it appears to be out of print.

  • Superb

    Many thanks
