1st the Dead is not my favorite band, 2nd, I wouldn't put Garcia in my personal top 10 guitarists BUT, 3rd to say Garcia is a sh!t guitarist tells me you just don't know what you're talking about. Check out "Deep Elem Blues" accoustic 1981 and check out Jerry's solo's on that vid(esp the 2nd solo). Clearly you're not a dead fan, and that's fine, but to say Jerry isn't a guitar great just because you have a prejudice against this type of music is misguided.

The rawness of this era is not for every one, but, think about this.... The Dead dosed every one at the Playboy mansion with LSD and got away with it. They were high as the sky on national television with playmates and Heff blasted on acid!!! That is a rare treat.

Love Jerry Garcia's guitar playing but hate his singing voice which I guess is why I prefer albums like Live Dead as opposed to American Beauty because your hear less of it.

I couldn't think of any other band I would want to play a personal party like that. I can only imagine the time they had after the show before and during. Furthur tonight in Broomfield. Can't wait to be dancing with my friends who are made it there and the one's who can't. Jerry may not be there every show, but he at least calls in.... Not sure when the GD became so amazing to me, but once they hit, man, just too much diversity.

A true masterpiece of music. Bob Weir's voice is amazing, Bill Murray's drumbeats are great, and Jerry's gutair licks are phenomenal. Though gone, Jerry will live on in our heart forever!

I will be forever grateful for this color footage of the dead in their youth! Garcia jamming and actually jumping around. Look at Bobs guitar head stock....strings uncut and flopping around. They were just kids and got the chance to play in the P.B Mansion!! I can only imagine what it must have been like.

I couldn't think of any other band I would want to play a personal party like that. I can only imagine the time they had after the show before and during. Furthur tonight in Broomfield. Can't wait to be dancing with my friends who are made it there and the one's who can't. Jerry may not be there every show, but he at least calls in.... Not sure when the GD became so amazing to me, but once they hit, man, just too much diversity.
