Sophia Bush is an amazing actress. She knew how to react in this scene since Chad did cheat on her so she knew by personal experience. This was one of her best scenes
Sorry for the rant but in my opinion people are way too hard on Peyton, and way too not hard on Lucas. I love both Brooke and Peyton, and they were both wrong, and their friendship survived this. That's the important thing.
And the DUMBEST part of this whole Brooke vs. Peyton thing is the fact that nobody blames Lucas. Not even a little. Which is ridiculous because he's the one who played with BOTH of their feelings and couldn't make up his darn mind of who he wanted to be with. He was just a player, liar and a user and told BOTH of them at different times "you're the only one". First it was I love Peyton, then it was I love Brooke, then it was Peyton again, etc. Wow, that's a sure way to ruin a friendship.
Both of them made mistakes and at times were selfish but if we're going to compare the two Brooke was way more selfish than Peyton was. Everyone says "you don't go behind your friend's back with her boyfriend" but what about "you don't go after someone when you know your best friend has feelings for him"? I'm not at all excusing what Peyton did, but again, she was really sorry she did it. Brooke was selfish from the beginning and did everything she could to get Lucas to like her and not Peyton.
I understand Brooke's point of view but why does everyone defend her so mercilessly and hate Peyton for making one mistake. Is it just because Brooke is prettier? Clearly Peyton is remorseful and deserves forgiveness and let us not forget that Brooke only liked Lucas for his looks and went after him even though she knew how Peyton felt about him. It's terrible to cheat, but Peyton knew it was a mistake and stopped there while Brooke completely ignored Peyton's feelings.
Okay I have always hated Peyton! But when Peyton told Brooke about liking Lucas yeah I understand why she'd be mad. But at least she told her. But Peyton did need to watch her mouth. I'm on Brooke's side no matter what
at first, i felt that brooke was overreacting just a bit until peyton said "you even said last night that you really didn't miss him" ...its like she was trying to convince brooke that her feelings for lucas were justified. more importantly, i think she was trying to tell herself that brooke didn't even like him as much as she did. wow. she definitely deserved that slap :P lol

Brooke gave peyton excatly what she diserved. If Peyton was really a good friend she wouldn't have said anything considering what happened last time. Brooke is in love with Lucas, she always has been, and Peyton should realize that if it hurt Brooke before its going o hurt her ten times worse. Peyton is a shitty friend, she's selfish and only thinks about what she wants, not who she hurts to get it.
I do think that Brooke overreacted just a tad- I mean Peyton was trying to be honest with her this time around. But I CAN understand why Brooke acted the way she did. It brought back bad memories of what happened before and how she felt.

I love this scene cuz of the emotions, but Brooke totally overreacted. If her friendship with Peyton meant just a lil bit more to her than her relationship with Lucas, she would have sat down with her and just talked to her or sumtin. Cuz Peyton was only being honest with Brooke bc she didnt wanna make the same mistakes, that took a lot of courage and love to do and say. The fact that Brooke didn't see that makes her the bad best friend, Peyton's intentions AND actions came from a good place.
