Here's a tip guys.......All you need to do is change your diff ratio (depending on what tourqe you allready have) and buy some lead sheet from a plumbing store, you can roll it up and add wieght to the front and rear axle without making the car "Top Heavy". This way you will gain maximum traction without suffering ground clearance and the centre of gravity will be much lower... JUST TRY IT!!! You'll never look BACK!
Crawlers are great ! But check out the girl at 1:11 , she is trying hard to get his attention , but he is more interested in the rc action. Very funny . How far did she go to get his mind off the rc's?
its funny how poorly rock crawlers perform in dirt conditions, any rustler or stampede could make it up that no problem. These are very specialized vehicles.
The stampede and rustler have brute force. The only reason for either one to clear that hill would be forward momentum, like an excess of it. Nothing else.
The two in here are geared too high. They're still just spinning tires. If they were geared more for torque they'd do alot better. I've also noticed not many crawlers posses the weight enough to plant the tires firmly on the ground. Hence all the hopping. Mine is scale weighted and it can actually get up a steep dirt hill like that because it's weighted down, and also is geared for just crawling. Wich is why I can't use it in crawling tournaments. It might also help if suspension was softer.
I don't think any amount of torque would've done these any good. They simply don't have enough weight. My AX10 used to suffer on moderate inclines comprising of loose loamy surfaces, till I added a kilo of wheel weights per axle.
Ok, yeah, that works too. Alot of the time though, just adding weight to the actual RC is preferable. That way, you have the suspension pressing down harder on the wheels trying to keep the spring length. But wheel weights work too. I prefer the tried and tested positive weight myself. Kilo sounds a bit much though. Or is that less than a pound?
Ah, ok. Understandable and very wise if you go into competitions. I'm plannin on making a vid of my rig once I get more time to myself. This depression/recession is killin me though and I gotta work harder.
