my g table is stuck on rebooting mode is clockworkmod and cyanoegn7 try to reset it but didnt work its said its restore complete nothing happens when i reboot it?//
Hi im kinda new to all these rooting and stuff but recently i gt a gtablet which when i press the reset button to factory settings(Did not root or anything) it rebooted but reloops at the vegantab animation screen no matter how many times i on it may i know what to do? Ps im able to install CWM thx to ur instructions but somehow when i press reboot system in Recovery mode the same thing happens
my gtablet jzt stays on da viewsonic screen with da birds n says on the corner RECOVERY KEY DETECTED and under that it says BOOTING RECOVERY KERNEL IMAGE....it dont go anywer else from ther....HELP!!!!!!!!!!!! plz
Format SD-card, if you want it to remain within the tablet. If not, all you'll have to do is, in CWM, delete userdata, cache and, under advanced, delete dalvik-cache.
I currently have TnT Lite 4.20 but I installed it like 5 months ago. Now, I am planning to give this tablet to my sister. How can I erase all the data or restore it like to factory setting or fresh tntlite 4.2 without my data. Should I just redo the install CWM and install tntlite 4.2? Appreciate your reply
i have question. Should i replace the update.zip file and recovery file. Because when i want to install them into the internal SD memory of the Gtablet it asks me if i want to replace it. All of it is done via USB connection.
Hi.. I'm in the market to buy (my first tablet) this Viewsonic gTablet anytime soon. But after watching your very informative video to upgrade, It occurs to me if I should first install the Honeycomb 3.0 (Android 3.0) first or should I install as you've instructed on your video the ClockworkMod and TnT Lite 4.0... Appreciate your quick response and Thank You in advance. Good job on the video...
Two questions -- one- I tried to do this before downgrading from 4349 to 3588 and, after installing the file, could not progress further. I did some searching and saw that I needed to downgrade to 3588, so I removed the ClockworkMod file from the root, downloaded the downgrade to 3588, and attempted to install. Didn't work -- got the booting recovery kernal key image and nothing else.
Let's see I solve this problem. Would this work with CyanogenMod7? If not, what should I use?
hey . ive been watching your video on how to get the clockworksmod to work on the g tablet and for some reason i do everthing u say to the t . But evertime im put it in recovery mode it stays on that screen and it also has a addittional line that says " Booting recovery kernel image " ive tried both ways to install it but nothing is working . Can u please help with a video or a message . I hope i added a good amount of info for u to help
Mine doesn't install clockworkmod. It shows Recovery Key detected then right below that it says Booting Recovery Kernel Image and never moves past the bird screen.
@whiteshark27 ok i used nvflash 1.1 and 1.2 after that i still didnt have clockworkmod .... what am i doing wrong now , i thought when i use the nvflash that would install clockworkmod
I NEED HELP. I followed your great video to install TNT lite, and everything worked until the las reset after TNT lite is uploaded. When the machine comes on again, I get a screen with a blueish honey comb that takes about a minute to bring the next screen ( with a lock on the side). How can I ma TNT lite to come on and get rid of the honey comb? PLEASE HELP!!! Jose
When I tried to copy the update.zip and the recovery folder over, it said there was already an update.zip and recovery folder on the tablet. I've never rooted this before. What do I do?
i'm trying to find out which rom is the best to install in the g tablet. you seem to have knowledge about these roms and how to install them. what one do you think is best. also do i get them at xda. thanks for any info
I have run into an issue. Upon re-boot, I get the Recovery Key Detected message, but Clockwordmod does not open, the gTab just continues to boot as normal. Thoughts?
@jeffreymbarry6606 I had the same issue; I bought the gTablet off the Woot deal. Should have known better that Woot sells all refurbished items! Looks like my gTablet was pre-owned, there was already a "Recovery" folder and "update.zip" on the root folder. Update.zip was 138MB in size, so it certainly was not CWM. Anyways, I tried to copy the CWM files and for the 'Recovery' folder copying I let Windows "merge" the folder - big mistake. Delete and then copy - that will fix it
Hey thanks I just follow your video and is working like a champ, but tell me there is a update in lite so I just do everything all over agin to do the update.
Does the TnT Lite just run on top of the stock OS, or what? And is TnT Lite your favorite OS to use vs VEGAn, Zpad Clean, and CyanogenMod? And thanks for these videos. They're seriously amazing.
Ed, the GTab was on sale yesterday on Woot.com for $279. Many of us ordered one. Will you be posting another video soon on your current ROM configuration and tips? I've watched almost all of your others, but noticed you haven't posted anything in about a month. Please don't quit. We need your expertise. Hope you will still help us. Alot of us are wanting to know what your recommendation is for the current ROMs available. Thanks for your assistance.
the TnT Lite 4.3 installation instructions on XDA recommends NOT using ClockWorkMod, yet it seemed to work fine here. I just ordered a gTab device and haven't even tried to flash yet, so I'm a total noob. Do you think the warning is unnecessary?
I am getting this message "Sorry The application Dashboard Home (process com.tapntap.homne) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
I tried power + volume but it didnt help. I want to go through the whole clockmod and tnt 2.4 update but right now I am stuck. Can you please help. Should I just go ahead and follow this video or return it to Amazon and do the upgrade with the new one.
thanks for the vid. i just installed this rom on my gtab. however, i noticed that tnt lite 5.0 just came out lol and i was wondering if you are gonna put up a vid for that as well? it looks a bit tricker to do since you have to flash back to 3588 first. a video of this would be awesome thanks.
Thanks for the video. The GTab is in the mail and I'm excited/terrified. I've never really done something like this with a product but after reading the Amazon product reviews, I'm willing to give it the college try.
So i tried downloading this, things didn't work the same way as you did it. Though when i turned it on these colorful lines were streaming then it cam up asking for a google(gmail info) so then i thought everything was good. So i contiued on to get the full market system. Now it is telling me that it is unstable so i need to parition the data..but i don't know how to fix that. is there a way i can start over or somthing?
First I have to say thanks. Your videos are the reason I finally pulled the trigger on buying a G tab. It was a breeze following your steps to install clockwork, but I don't know what you did to install TnT 4.2.0. When I tried installing mine it looked different than yours. The screen in clockwork never displayed the TnT Lite logo and on reboot it didn't display the Android logo. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Waiting for my G Tab. I already have downloaded clockworkmod and TnT lite 4.20 . Thank you for the great videos. I'm like a 44yr old kid waiting for Christmas. thanks again
have you ever had trouble signing into your google account. it was working for me 2 days ago then i went to back it up to change roms and recovery erased itself. i restored with VZFlash and now no matter what i load i cant get it to sign into my google account. :-C
Thanks for the video series. Can't wait to see what the rom looks like once you have it loaded. I'm using tnt lite 4.1. What are the changes? Are they using their own custom interfaces for the fix? The upside is I have 7 homescreens that rotate in a cube with labels (launcher pro) for each on i.e. Web Quick launch for desktop bookmarks, productivity, Utilities & Tweaks, News & Resources, Communications, Entertainment and an Executive Assistant.
@Digitafolio I prefer VEGAN-Tab because it seems to run better on my gTablet than TnT Lite did/does. I don't know why; it just works better for me. The nice part about Android is that we have choices, so YMMV. :)
This was an awesome help for me as a noob to mod my g tablet. Thanks a lot! My only problem now is app market doesn't work right. Very few apps in it. I tried fixing it through setting but it still doesn't work. Also, where do you get and install Titanium backup?
I have noticed that your gtab has little or now lag when it comes to using your touchscreen. I am using Vegan1.00 beta5.1 and my touchscreen seems to operate kinda sketchy. Some items I can tap on with ease and other items like the drawer launcher seems to take a longer press before it responds. Kinda like you used to have to press down on a resistive screen. Is this a software bug? Thanks.
@ehunyadi Thanks for getting back to me. I figured it out after scouring XDA. My touchscreen needed to be re-calibrated.
Solution: place an empty txt file named "calibrate.txt" on root of sdcard partition. place gtab on flat surface and restart. dont move gtab for a few minutes after restart to allow for calibration. After calibration is successfully completed and tested for accuracy...remove text file.
Hey, Good to see a new video post!! I was wondering if you quit making these awesome instructional videos. Glad you didn't!!! One thing that would be nice to see is, From stock to any custom ROM with data backup using CM and Titanium backup. Maybe just the bare minimum user data and apps? I have yet to take my tab from stock + enhanced because I have SOO much data I don't want to loose. I am a little unsure what I need to backup and how to restore those files....
What's the advantage of using clockwork to add these ROMs as opposed to just rooting and putting the update.zip file in the root and re-booting? Great videos!!!
@pnndo2a The advantage is being able to backup and restore not only the ROM but your data and apps as well so you can try stuff and go back if you don't like what you tried.
I was contemplating on getting an Archos101 'cause of the price, but seeing as it's never in stock at the $300 price I was looking at the G-Tablet. I honestly thought I had to do some amazing haxorz on this thing to get the stock Tap'n'Tap UI out and a Custom ROM in. Thanks for showing me the light. I'm definitely getting this with my next paycheck! :D
@pahammel I have preferred VEGAn Tab for my gTablet, but my wife likes TnT Lite. I have had problems with the market on TnT Lite, so I'm sticking with VEGAn for now.

I bought my gtab off ebay so it had been 'worked on'. It works fine but when I try to replace the rom as per all the articles I get nowhere.
I keep getting the following message after a power+volup key combo press upon booting.
"Booting Recovery Kernel Image"
I've restored the factory image via 'factory data reset'.
Everything I've read say the CWM should load, but it doesn't. I'm doing something wrong so if someone could give me an idea, I'd appreciate it.

Some items I can tap on with ease and other items like the drawer launcher seems to take a longer press before it responds. Kinda like you used to have to press down on a resistive screen. Is this a software bug? Thanks.

@electroplasm I have no lag at all; Vegan 5.1 is amazing and super-fast!

Thanks again. :)

@ehunyadi I am new to this where do I get the clockworkmod file from? I also wanted to know would you recommend this to a first timer like myself?

Hey, Good to see a new video post!! I was wondering if you quit making these awesome instructional videos. Glad you didn't!!! One thing that would be nice to see is, From stock to any custom ROM with data backup using CM and Titanium backup. Maybe just the bare minimum user data and apps? I have yet to take my tab from stock + enhanced because I have SOO much data I don't want to loose. I am a little unsure what I need to backup and how to restore those files....
Great work!

@WantAdrioid Go with a custom ROM. You won't believe the increase in performance!

You have to root device first correct?

I was contemplating on getting an Archos101 'cause of the price, but seeing as it's never in stock at the $300 price I was looking at the G-Tablet. I honestly thought I had to do some amazing haxorz on this thing to get the stock Tap'n'Tap UI out and a Custom ROM in. Thanks for showing me the light. I'm definitely getting this with my next paycheck! :D

you could have picked "mount USB storage" option in clockworkmod to transfer files... you were so close.

Vegan vs TnT. I have seen you use them both. Which one are you having the most success with?
pahammel 1 year ago
@pahammel I have preferred VEGAn Tab for my gTablet, but my wife likes TnT Lite. I have had problems with the market on TnT Lite, so I'm sticking with VEGAn for now.
