  • I like the look on the chevy sonic too. But I love scion. Not chevy. :/

  • I like the chevy sonic more.

  • Unimpressive mpg considering it's size. Way too expensive for what it is. Cheap looking interior. I would be very concerned driving a car this tiny should I ever be in an accident with it. Very little cargo space. I don't see any positives to owning this car.

  • "A lot of the items look like heir left over from the Toyota parts bin"..... THATS BECAUSE IT IS A TOYOTA AND IS SOLD AS A TOYOTA EVERYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD!!!

  • 0:22 fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck

  • I'm interested in the iQ. I live in Chicago and parking is a bitch. The city mpg on this thing is actually a lot better than Hyundai's. The pricing is a little ridiculous, but it's understandable with the standard safety features. I don't mind paying extra for the Toyota dependability, as compared to Smart and Hyundai's sketchy record. And with the recent college rebate, it's actually priced the same as a yaris hatchback.

  • @sweeneywi Just saw this car at the autoshow in Chicago.. I hope you know you can barely put anything in the backseat!

  • @sweeneywi With Hyundai's 10 year warranty, I would choose that over Scion's 3 year warrenty. Also the 2012 Accent is cheaper and gets 40pmg highway. Personally, I would get the 2012 Kia Rio, check out the hutchback for city parking

  • Jesus Christ... buy a Hyundai Accent. 13k, twice the room, 140hp, and 40mpg on the highway. This thing is for little old ladies and hipsters. Who, will either think it's "adorable" or get sick of it after a month.

  • anybody who buys this is nuts. 15k for this little turd? first off a car this small should be getting well into the 40's mpg wise. 2nd a little pos like this should not crack the 10k mark. 3rd, this thing is a death trap. driving this car is only safe if everybody else is driving a small pos. hmm i wonder would would happen if the iq crashed with full size truck or suv.

  • for the price i would expect alot more, seems lame to brag about how small it is

  • Fail! This is america. We dont have limited space. We want more mpgs not smaller size. $15k ? That means $20k to buy. Looks cool as far as micros go but its going to fail.

  • really nice looking and driving toyota yaris

  • BOYCOTT THIS ABORTION.

  • I guess this teaches us that calling a car "IQ" can't prevent it from being mindbogglingly dumb...

  • You want gas mileage for cheap? Buy geo metro with a 1.0, 3 cylinder. 45 miles per gallon if you drive it right. Plus you can get a full set of new tires for under $120.

  • is that car good for family?

  • Yeah the pricing is way too high for something which amounts to the practicality of a Smart car. Highway mileage isn't as high as many more commodious compacts but the price is higher or the same. Its tiny size ONLY helps in the city and is a useless "benefit" everywhere else. Being a three seater with only enough luggage space for a bag that can sit in the extra seat is disappointing as well. Add to it that for its price its slow and has steel wheels (unless you pay even more) and it fails.

  • anybody who buys this needs to have A FRONTAL LABOTOMY. Please people send a message and ignore this terd

  • @forestgreen98

Yes, I would have to agree. This car makes elephant shit look like molten chocolate cake!

  • 15000 dollars???!!!! FIFTEEN FUCKING THOUSAND DOLLARS? OH I'M AN ASSHOLE SIGN ME UP FOR TWO! JESUS CHRIST

  • this is the most hideous piece of fucking garbage I have seen yet. MPG sucks, no power, ugly lump of shit DEATH TRAP

  • My 1999 ford escort averages about 40mpg. I'm not impressed...

  • This car is overpriced by about $5,000, just like the Fiat 500. There's no reason why a car this small with a four cylinder engine should cost more than $10,000. It makes no sense, if you're going to build economy cars make them affordable! Otherwise what's the point?

  • Ugliest car ever. How much is this pos? $8k new?

  • hmmmmmmmm buy a car and when you wreck it you save on a casket sounds like a decent deal but ill pass

  • @80fordmustang6 yes indeed because in what would be a fender bender in a normal car would leave you as mashed shit in this garbage

  • 0:22 fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck

  • @SoAwesomelyFunny I noticed that too, and was like whattheheeee

  • Fuck Scion, it looks gay as shit

  • @MASHDOTCOM

Expansive vocabulary and still says nothing.

  • @MASHDOTCOM YOU MEAN FUCKING SHIT

  • The name is kinda ironic because if you do buy one of these, you dont ahve an IQ

  • 16.5 cubic inches??? I think you meant feet.

  • 15k for a Smart car?! Jesus when they come up with new ideas?

  • @weapondrift You're telling me, I need CHEAP and reliable new cars, one of the Asian brands should come up with a car that debuts at about $8,000 dollars, now that's smart.

  • @pavelow235 no kidding! Ive been saying that for years!!

  • it runs 0 - 60 in longer than my car run 1/4 mile hahaha.

  • my 1964 fiat 500D is smaller and seats 4! gets 55mpg and can go 55mph all day :)

  • $15k xD

  • Dat Foxbody at :27 ;_;

  • I would buy a Smart over this just because it is a higher quality car.

  • They need a manual. I like the idea of the 3+1. However, it should have a 50/50 split-folding rear seat so that they could us that "1" for storage and have one person in the back.

  • @NattDogg01 it does have a 50/50 split folding rear seat

  • @sexyboi142 Really? I didn't know that (obviously). Well then that is a pretty useful feature. lol

  • I’m full time college student living in the city and I'm looking for a new car. Realistically I wouldn’t pay anything over $12,000 for that car. I would rather buy a civic because it has more power and gets the almost the same amount of mpg’s.

  • @brownmokey You do know a new Civic that costs $15,000 doesn't have A/C or a radio, right?

  • @NattDogg01 I know but I rather spend the extra 3k and get better quality. My friend has a scion. They look cool but lack build quality. Or I can always buy a used civic for cheap.

  • @brownmokey All Toyota products do that. The reasonably-priced ones always have really sharp styling, but once you get inside, it really depresses you. A used Civic is always a good choice, you can get really nice ones for really cheap. You can even get the Si's for around the same price.

  • Great car for an electric car project. It makes no sense to buy it for any other thing since the fuel economy sucks.

  • toyota have updatet the interior in the iq in europe

  • The black one looks amazinggg

  • I'll keep my Fiat 500.

  • @C70drvr Toyota can give me one for free fully loaded and I'd turn it down. Fiat is a great car, and it looks great too. This Scion is hidious.

  • It should have been a seater

  • looks fun to drive in the city, it bounce like crazy though

  • O_o...did he say 16.5 cubic inches of cargo space?? my 20oz Dr pepper is gonna be a tight fit.

  • Remember, it's just a Toyota iQ but far too expensive for what it is.

  • stick a v8 in the back and watch their faces at the lights, don't forget a big thumbs up as you leave them in shock

  • 1:29 ROFL

  • THUMBS UP IF CNET BROUGHT CHU HERE!

  • @backingslowly I like the car and I'm straight with a rather large pecker as well.

  • eww no way, id never buy that thing. I had to come see what it looked like too. Hes right though, scion is just ugly, no one really buys them. Toyota needs to dump the lineup or spice it up. And keep the FT 86 away from the scion brand.

  • Great review as always guys. But if I'm buying a scion, i want the xB and that thing sucks right now. It is literally a box with wheels and a engine. If they refine it i would get one, but it just feels like its just there. Need it to be more sophisticated to buy as a family/cruising car.

  • Everyone where I live wants big stupid ass redneck Ford F350s because its the redneck American dream. And they get 12 mpg, fucking retards. This is the way of the future.

  • I can see this being great for the ability to park it, and move around easily in dense traffic, but for the price, I really don't see why a person would take this over a regular sub compact car like the Accent/Mazda 2/Fiesta or the like.

It doesn't get any better mileage, it's fairly expensive and has absolutely no cargo room. The other cars I mentioned are not much harder to park, but they have so many more features. This isn't a bad little car, but for the price, it has better competition.

  • most fuel efficient non-hybrid? really? What about Hyundai Accent and Elentra's 40mpg?

  • @rfan

Most fuel efficient combined. This one gets 36 mpg in the city and 37 in the HW, with an average of 37. The Accent and Elantra may get 40 in the HW but I think less than 36 in the city, giving them lower average.

  • yea but whats better fiat 500 or scion iq?

  • Before u guys purchase this car ......

Look at Fiat 500 first ....

    Thanks

  • Dear Scion: Cool idea but way overpriced. This should be more like $10,000, the base price of a Nissan Versa.

  • @G3day1 Toyota created scion you idiot

  • copy from toyota iq

  • 3:39 Man i thought this had at least a little bit more cargo area than "16.5 cubic inches"!!!

  • I'm okay I will buy Detroit.

  • And another ugly piece of junk by Toyota!!!!!!!!!

  • Regular performance in a super small car? This is what the Fortwo should have been.

But I hate to say it -- the average buyer would probably be able to justify the Fortwo more easily. At $15,265, this car is in the territory of a Focus/Aveo/Yaris/Versa/Etc, and the only thing this car has over them is being smaller.

Well, it is a step forward. Now Smart will have to step their game up too.

  • I really need one of these I'm noob =D and i really don't like Fast cars.

  • ofc 90 horsepower is more than good enough, maybe not for america

  • more weight , more horsepower, better mpg?

my smart does 40 all day every day

  • pretty stupid you think? With cars now getting 40 mpg, you would think this one would get way more because its a smaller car.

  • k, so i own a smart fortwo.... it gets 41mpg.... not 36mpg. last i checked, 41mpg is more than 37mpg. fuckhead.

  • Comment removed

  • Im glad they mentioned the Fiat 500. He's right, it's expensive. It should be around $13k.

  • haven't we learned that Americans don't like small midget cars? the smart car has not sold well, how do you think this will sell? Lets focus on making 35+mpg SUV's instead.

  • Not a bad review but could have done well without the intro minute of scrwey video and annoying music.

I realize marketing types might tell you this brands your video. But just saying who you are and maybe having a logo will do that. This minute long intro was just simply annoying and it puts me off clicking on another of your vids.

  • so if i get this car, i can turn my 2 car garage; 1 toyota fj cruiser, 1 smart fortwo... into a 3 car garage :3

  • good review!

  • most fuel efficeint non hybrid?.... bmw 320d efficent dynamics?

  • @TheNick92UK Yea, but the 320d isn't available in America.

  • @BigCivic sorry mate jsut being fusy, coz he did say that it was the smallest and most fuel efficent car in the world :)

  • @TheNick92UK I don't know about Europe, but I know that the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid in the U.S. is the Volkswagen Golf/Jetta TDI

  • @lacktopher ah ok, in europe i would say off the top of my head that the VW polo blue motion is the most fuel-efficeint non-hybrid :) ..... probs wrong.

  • great presentation as always. more videos please :)

  • Very good review.

The iQ is a great smal car, the price is a little frustrating but it a interesting choice to urban streets.

  • can you bump up the tire size a bit, so that it can make it over the speed bumps okay?

  • how many americans can you really fit in there?

  • @JogBird You can fit three comfortably. Two in the front row and one in the second row behind the passenger. The space behind the driver is pretty much useless though.

  • @AutoguideVideo for a 6'er like me, driving the iQ no one would have room behind me because i put the seat right to the back of the rails. However, depending on the size of the driver this vehicle becomes a full 4 seater. I will sit comfortably behind a 5.5'er in the plus one seat. Driver size makes a large difference between the usability of this car as a 3 or 4 seater.

  • @AutoguideVideo I believe that was a fat joke. I am american, and I am underweight.

  • @AutoguideVideo Im currently looking at a 05' si hatchback 55k miles for 6k

  • @AutoguideVideo Not useless to Europeans though...why can they fit 4 in a Toyota iQ and we can't?

  • @JogBird Is that a fat joke?

  • @JogBird

Depends on which state you are in. If you are in Colorado, 3, if you are in Alabama, none.

  • @Jogbird you know you can fit all four people you just have to go back and get the last two ; )

  • Look its an Aston Martin Cygnet!!!!!!

  • @Crushercurtis702 because it basically is

  • @Crushercurtis702 Both the Scion version and the Cygnet are based on the Toyota iQ.

  • @Crushercurtis702

I'd have to look at the Cygnet first... BUT supposedly you can't purchase it unless you have already have an Aston Martin.

  • Nice, put on a body kit that they're offering, sporty wheels and I'm sold!

  • Having drums in the rear is a major turnoff. Was there a significant amount of brake fade when pushing this thing around the twisties?

  • Must have low IQ to buy the Scion IQ

  • this segment is not the most popular, but look at it this way if you had to choose, this is infinitely better than the Smart for 2. :T

  • I know it says it's made for the city, but 40 mpc? Isn't that cutting it close even for city driving?? Toyota has been ahead for a long time in the hybrid sector, you would think they would have been the first with a electric car, but I think the Nissan Leaf would be a better deal. After rebates, you only paying around 5 g more room and driving distance. Hopefully the Rav4 EV will be a lot better.

  • I can't wait to get one..I love it!

  • i dont think scion will ever work the way toyota has been marketing it. they try to make scion seem cool and that alone will be its own downfall. all the real companies with street cred do not go out and tell everyone how cool they are...they let their cars do the talking. keep trying Scion..i used to like you guys

  • Give me a Fiat 500 any day of the week.

  • 0:22 "Fuck fuck fuck fuck..." ? O_o

  • @zackness5 LOL i didn't get it til i watched it again hilarious

  • @zackness5 holy shiiiit, they really say that!! hahahaha

  • you're kidding right? 15K for this thing? wow!!!!! im sure plenty of SF people will buy this tho. Nice review!
