I would have liked to see Shadow of the Beast (the trilogy) ported over to the PS1 - never mind :) Maybe we'll get it as a download for PS3/Xbox 360 one day.
Hehe - i remember playing Lemmings and stumbling upon a level very similier to the Shadow of the Beast theme. It was a dark forest like level and it was such magic to play.
the PC engine is probably the best hidden little gem of a console, better than any machine during the 5 year after its release, except for the NEO GEO which cost more than triple all its counter parts
Incredible. If more people knew of the greatness of this soundtrack, the game would've sold more, as well as the TurboGrafx-16 itself. I was expecting more of a sincerity with the music, since it is a creature-turned human trying to find a way back to normal form ("ZOUNDS!" You have been transformed in Shadow of the Beast!"). It's much upbeat and happy, actually. My favorite track is the first one that played. So bold, so powerful, so PlayStation!
I'll add a few little things, too. The quote in the parenthesis came from the promotional video that SuperPCEngineGrafx has called "Power Up!", just like the Prince of Persia one. I love the first song to death, so much so that I wish there was a downloadable version of the whole thing, since it seems to cut off early here. I could listen to it over and over again. I wonder how the Amiga version compares in its soundtrack?

To be honest, whilst this is no doubt atmospheric, it just doesn't have the solid feel of the C64's music

The Amiga version has music that fits the general mood in the game better.
But this has good music, too. Not a bad version.

Psygnosis put a number of "cameo" levels in like "Awesome" and "Apidya" and even "Shadow of the Beast II"

I'm ashamed to say it, but this sounds better than the Amiga version. And I do mean ASHAMED.

No need to be ashamed, this is a cd version of the game, theres no way in hell a pc-engine without cd-rom would sound better than the Amiga version.
The Amiga version sounds best by far over any other version that dosent use CDDA and is almost as good in terms of quality as these tunes.

It's a shame the media hated NEC and their systems so.

One of the best soundtracks ever. Probably Top 5, and the Pc-Engine version is better ever than the Amiga.
