@hiloboyz8085 , I hear you. I just can't handle the taste. I am not hard core like da real local guys like you. I respect your taste, but I am not at that level yet.
Kahana! Hey man, it's JJ Cieslewicz. Its has been too long. I saw your mug and had to set up an account to say Hi. I've been ichin' to get back in the water ever since I left. I'll be back out in August. Hope to see ya then. Give everyone a shout for me, will ya?
do u have any advice on how to unstuck shafts in the reef, mines is right next to choke vana and is in a on and off current area.. with on and off waves
@Ps3BrentHD First, Don't shoot in holes or at the reef like Alawaiman does. I've had to remove too many of his shafts from the reef for him. So wait for the fish to clear the reef before shooting. Next, Don't do what some divers do and load the shaft into the gun and try twisting it out. This will only break your trigger. That being said, you might consider carrying a vice-grip/wrench to twist and pull your shaft out.
flutter their pectoral fins and tread water. They are challenging to shoot but worth the effort, as they have nice flaky meat. I noticed that if you shoot and miss, they hardly EVER come back out of the hole that day. You usually have to remember the spot and check back on your next dive and they'll usually be there. The bigger they are, the more skittish they are and will run at the slightest detection of flailing by your limbs or something. I literally have had one dodge my hawaiian sling
to a rock and perch so the palani's, butterfly fish, nenue, etc. start coming back around and eventually draw the uhu's, moana kali's, etc. But my favorite shot was on that nice size "ALA'IHI'" or "ALI'I MAMA", i'm not sure how to spell it. You know, the one that looks like a big menpachi but has the personality of a Roi. They pretty much just hover around the outside of their rock hole of coral that they're familiar with, and when they see you, they pretty much just face you and flutter their
Yeah the Mu shot was nice, Alawaiman! Even though I couldn't see it in the video at the beginning, I knew that you were stalking either an Uku or a Mu, but I quickly realized it was a going to be a Mu because you were being especially still, cause every diver knows that Mu are REALLY skittish, you only get one chance at them and they're off into the deep if you spook'um, unlike Uhu, which are usually tame enough that they'll stick around and let you cock your riffe again and drop down to a rock
i bought a pair of fins online and the footpocket is so much bigger than my foot i can put my index finger between my heel and the back, will a pair of neoprene socks make them fit?
Nice to see another BYU grad spearo!
