  • Fantastico!

  • Another version that superceeds the original; complete with lots of birds- owls, hawks, alfred hitchcock murder of crows.....

  • THIS IS HORRIBLE! Flatter than a pancake and horrid voices kinda like homeless cats in the dead of winter, Listening to these bitches is like pealing the paint off a new Porsche

  • @mrfrogbutt1 Who'd want to own a Porsche???

  • Great recording, great video! I've been looking through the clips for Donovan's original, and I like this one best!

  • I hear Julie Driscoll diggin' this....

  • bitchin guitar i think i prefer donovans vocals though. thumbs up!

  • when will they learn, only Donovan can be Donovan, they'll only be the men who shot Donovan, and billy the kid, and martin luther king, and JFK, and Lincoln, and that drummer, or guitarist, or whatever

  • i look in your window : )

  • PERFECTO ESO ES MARABILLOSO ES UNA OBRA DE ARTE ,NO TENGO PALABRAS BRAVO, BRAVO ,BRAVO

  • Dedicato a Claudia e Sara....

    @Beppe

  • Love it

  • True Blood! = [ buhahaha

  • Horrible version; check out Richard Thompson's cover of the song and you will be blown away if you think this tripe is good.

  • *WICKED A+++++WESOME Witchy video...purrfect video and very enjoyable to watch. I loved your video, but not too crazy for this version of this song. I would post this same video with a few different songs; I put a spell on you by Bette Midler or even the original sung by a black voodoo woman would work and be cool, Dangerous Type (New cover on The Craft soundtrack) ect. This is just a GREAT video I think to waste on a so-so song! Great job visually and it does go & work great with the song too

  • The Coral electric sitar gives it a tasty "retro" flavor.

  • Very cool! Thanks for posting! Great job on the images! I must admit, I didn't know about The Strangelings. Great sound! I'm a fan!

  • Great video for the song.

  • Awesome version

  • Very good job man.Very trippy

  • “There is no art in turning a goddess into a witch, a virgin into a whore, but the opposite operation, to give dignity to what has been scorned, to make the degraded disireable, that calls for art or for character.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

  • best version since Julie Driscoll*s

  • cool

  • cool

  • just awesome. my favorite version i've found here.

  • amazingly yum

  • Where did you find that beginning cartoon of Brothers Grimm The 7 Ravens?

That used to creep me out as a kid.

  • I prefer the original, Donovan version.

  • As mention before, the Mike Bloomfield and Alan Keeper version is the best, I believe.

  • Check out Sam Gopal - Season of the witch for another awsome cover of this. Youll be surprised when you see who does the vocals on that one. :)

  • nobody is mention Dr johns version which totally ruled

  • This is the winner - I'm taking off the the covers (Louu Rawls and Hole! And Donovan's original and the disputed Vanilla Fudge version and keeping this !

  • @TheSoSoAgnostic Thanks! It never gets old, I even like it better than the original ;-) It was fun to put the images to the song too.

  • @ravensky23 Thank you for this video. The original Donovan song was strange and freaky, but the Strangelings recording (instrumentals, harmonies etc) make it the best recording of this song - - ever. Thank you for enjoying it - even 7 months ago. I also like their performance video - such crazy instruments. I think they are playing (i'm making up the word) Electric BassoMandolelios

    Thank you so much

    (Player of Treble Ukelelian. DJS)

  • @TheSoSoAgnostic Agree, agree, agree. Lou Rawls was bluuusier (you can't beat someone with a horn section, and who sang backup for Sam Cooke) - But this version is the most strange and mysterious, as follows (expands) the intent of donovan (i think).

  • @TheSoSoAgnostic have you heard Joan Jett's version? It's cool as well =)

  • Yep, good cover. I almost cringe b4 listening to covers........cuz most are so offensive. But this one is really well done. thx.

  • BRAVO!!!!! ***standing now**** BRAVO!!!! BRAVO Production!

  • So good.

  • Donovan cover, I say perfect like that performed by Bloomfield and Kooper...

  • It sounds more loving and respectfull but still some of the images follow along sheepishly to a negative stereo type.

  • cool...

  • Hey, just heard this tonight by the Kennedy's at a house concert in NJ. I love this song! Great spin on a classic. Nice vid too

  • superb version, I feel it like swamp rock

. Well it is hard to miss this tune.

  • Great version. I especially like the Coral sitar lead!

  • Very cool philsteak! 1)I don't know anyone else who would recognize a Coral Sitar! 2) Are there any out there on the market?

  • Thank you ravensky! Just a question tho, I'm older than dirt and I don't remember the Strangelings. How far back do they go? Is all their music so fine? Thanks again.

  • The Strangelings are a relatively new compilation group founded by The Kennedy's (Pete and Maura). If you follow the links to the right in my info section you'll learn more about them. I first saw them in this guise this past summer at The Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Maura has her own YouTube site (link to the right. THis is from tThe Strangelings latest album, which I love...and I'm older than dirt too! ;-) Glad you liked it, I had fun making the visuals.

  • Hey girl, where did you go? It says your channel has been removed. Say it ain't so! :~(

  • @sweetqueento3, yeah I agree great video compilation of images to go alone with music.

  • Well yeah, but when I first listened to Donovan back in the 60s I didn't know he helped knitters do better; "pick up every stitch". Loved it. Seriously though Debbie, great imagery and you are right - it's a beautiful version of a great song.

  • You can't imagine how much I wanted to make a knitting video fit in there for 'pick up every stitch' LOL

  • This is beyond awesome.

  • I know! What a great song, eh? Maura even liked my tribute! Yeah! ;-) Thanks for stoping by!

  • Hi Judy! Thanks for watching the vid, really glad you like the song. Aren't the videos of the crows something? I love the raven courtship flight too. But of course I would! LOL

  • I just heard this song on some podcast but I don't remember which one! haha

    Great job Debbie!

  • Thanks, Sue! I've loved this song since I first bought Donovan's "Sunshine Superman" (yep, I'm old!) This version by The Stranglings has that great funky electric guitar that just does it for me! ;-)
