well just checked the rock chuck video and I must agree with you (possibly) about the first two shots but there are three problems with the third. 1. there is a growing tree on the side of the pointed rock on the left of screen, which gives a size reference to the target. 2. based on that, the spray and other parts can be judged on how big the target was. 3. look closely and you will see what appears to be a bent arm and part of a lung attached. rewind and pause at the right times and see.

I'm not sure, and I'm not arguing that is not a .50 at range, but I'm positive the last shot was at an animal. It moved onto the rock just before the shot vapourized it. The first shots I couldn't really see because of obvious reasons, but that last one was pretty clear, and it moved like an animal not a person. Still impressive though.

RLSEALY and the doubters are spot on - something about this vid didn't sit right when I first saw it either. The terrain for one - distance is much closer than claimed - lack of bullet trace (not tracer) large bullets leave a wake on the way to target that can be seen by the naked eye - no ranging reticle in the spotters scope - all adds up to something other than claimed. Canadian snipers rightfully earned their reputation in Afghanistan but this vid ain't part of it.

Um to the most recent commenter. Your wrong. The barrett m107 .50cal rifle has made people fly trust me i have done it. Im attached to the 26 meu as an 8541 and i do this for a living. No a DU round wont do this and a copper jacket wont either. But i have broken the law beffore and used wad cutters and water rounds. 3. Bullets don't have the energy to make human bodies fly, it will simply tear through the flesh on impact. An explosive around would do the same (since penetrators are designed for heavy armor-newtons 3rd law, look it up).
Having done a tour of Naim and knowing what a 50 cal can do to a man i dont disbeleive, and having read Calos Hathcoks book hitting a target at 2000 plus mtres is not easy but quite common for a select few.

I'm not sure, and I'm not arguing that is not a .50 at range, but I'm positive the last shot was at an animal. It moved onto the rock just before the shot vapourized it. The first shots I couldn't really see because of obvious reasons, but that last one was pretty clear, and it moved like an animal not a person. Still impressive though.

RLSEALY and the doubters are spot on - something about this vid didn't sit right when I first saw it either. The terrain for one - distance is much closer than claimed - lack of bullet trace (not tracer) large bullets leave a wake on the way to target that can be seen by the naked eye - no ranging reticle in the spotters scope - all adds up to something other than claimed. Canadian snipers rightfully earned their reputation in Afghanistan but this vid ain't part of it.

No a DU round wont do this and a copper jacket wont either. But i have broken the law beffore and used wad cutters and water rounds. 3. Bullets don't have the energy to make human bodies fly, it will simply tear through the flesh on impact. An explosive around would do the same (since penetrators are designed for heavy armor-newtons 3rd law, look it up).

Having done a tour of Naim and knowing what a 50 cal can do to a man i dont disbeleive, and having read Calos Hathcoks book hitting a target at 2000 plus mtres is not easy but quite common for a select few.
i cant for the life of me recall the books title at pres, but its well worth a read for anyone interested, some very scary experiences
