for those who are interested YES this was done by savatage sorry recorded by them first and then it found its way to TSO cause it is all the same writers and musicians
yes I am aware, been a long time savatage fan from way back, actually got to hang out with savatage multiple times, may have to post some of the pics somewhere.
It is a TSO song as much as a savatage song and neither really. It is a plain christmas song, rock played. Savatage were a bit more metall-ish so it is better suited to be a TSO song in the end as it is more or less, rock style...
@81giorikas you're high!!! this is Savatage 110%... O'Neill did what he had to as far as forming TSO. but this song was written for and performed exceptionally for the DEAD Winter DEAD album. also, I bet Jon can't even remember the last time he performed on stage w/TSO. he is too busy doing his thing. it was intended to be Fucking Metal from the get go. TSO is a by product of Savatage and don't be fooled any longer. TSO feeds alot of people 4 two months outa the year. Savatage Rages Year round
@81giorikas Yes and no, the song was a part of a conceptual storyline that Dead Winter Dead focused on. In the storyline this song, as well as Motzart and madness are played by a cellist in the town square of Sarajevo as it was getting bombarded with mortar rounds by Croatian Serbs. It is during this song that the cellist is actually killed by a mortar. What made this song moving to many was not the Christmas theme, but the story that it was part of, and of the grim nature of human brutality
@jcarlotta Youre aware Savatage did this first and that Savatage virtually is TSO, right? Or am I taking your comment out of some context Im not fully unerstanding?
@KhylerNevra It is members of Savatage that is in the TSO. Paul O'Neill, Jon Oliva and Al Pitrelli. I hope this helps those of you who wanted to know this. :)

@KhylerNevra I believe by "heart of TSO" he is, in fact, referring to the Savatage members that went on to form the band.

@DreamersImperial That is a possibility. But its weird to say it as though the TSO came first... thats what caught me off guard.

And most people who have heard this song don't know about the great band that is (or was, since they've been inactive for a few years) Savatage.
Fuck them.
Anyway, thank you for uploading this song and for actually giving a fuck on the video description.
Long live Savatage, Jon Oliva, Circle II Circle and the other Savatage offshoots that I haven't heard yet.
