  • gifted or what.

  • Best group of all time. Barney looks like a chubby Fidel Castro.

  • Top Shelf!

    Thank you! :))

  • Top Draw Stuff :))

  • Where can I find these? Are they on DVD? I rather get these old ones than the new ones. It's one of the finest live performances I've ever sen on the net. Glory to the brave men who died.

  • @UnderligGrotta i think im ciaran bourke reencarnated

  • @celtic4ever18 "ok"

  • The second tune is actually not "The Longford Collector", it's called "The Boyne Hunt"! You might want to change that to avoid some confusion.. :-)

  • can anyone tell me who is the one with the guitar standing in between ciaran and barney? never saw him before!

  • @SuperStefbef

    That is Bob Lynch!

  • some kid on a ukulele gets 45 million hits on youtube and this only gets 37,246, people dont know what real music is any more, Barney and co are pure class!

  • The lads are tearing away. makes me proud to be irish!

  • Brilliant, raw talent ! :)

  • Thank you. This is a fantastic video!

The second song is the Boyne Hunt.

  • Ciaran Bourke at 0:49 lol

  • Amen !

  • Fantastic. God bless Ronnie, Luke & Ciaron.

  • The second tune is not the Longford Collector. It's The High Reel.

  • @getridofthetonedeaf No, actually this is not The High Reel. It's a tune called The Boyne Hunt!

  • These guys were born with beards!

  • First vid I've seen with Bobby Lynch and also good to see more Ciaran footage too.

    Bloody brilliant.

  • It seems so odd to see Luke with short hair.

  • @NardolTheElf luke isn't in this video. from left to right: ronnie, john, ciaran, bobby, barney.

  • @haui61 Thought as much. Bobby seems a little short, doesn't he.

  • @NardolTheElf And Barney without a hat !

  • @kerstmanneke82 This was long before he started getting bald! :D

  • They'll always be absolutely brilliant!

  • Damn I think their instrumental talent in sometimes overshadowed by their vocal talent.

  • Never saw a band who had it together like these dudes...even before Luke joined!

    Thanks for posting this video!

  • The Traditional playing of the Tunes sounds so great when the Dubliners play the Tunes!

  • The second reel is the Boyne Hunt

  • I just love this video, apart from the brilliant music the visual banter between Ciaran and Barney isvery endearing.

  • Ciarán & Bobby ~~ go ndeana Dia trócaire ar a anam dhílis. Met Ciarán in O'Donoghue's Pub a year before he died . Also knew Bob--may they both rest in peace.

  • wow, bobby lynch

  • hey i was just on the wikipedia page for ciaran bouke and there's only one line wirtten about him.

i think its a shame that there's so little written about such a wonderful musican and such an important figure in irish music. i wouldn't know an awful lot about his life so i thought maybe someone on here could do up his page a bit! thanks.

  • There's more now.

  • ah thats great! nice to know a bit more about the legend

    thank you!!!

  • wikipedia sucks mate. the number of lines in the wikipedia does not measure the greatness of a man.

  • @eimsnic it's a sin and a shame. i just wish other people would put his stuff on youtube. PLEASE.

  • the dubs, a force to be reckoned with

  • listening on the radiogram to the records, while the pig's feet boiled in the scullery. so they would be ready for the match at Croker...........Up the dub's

  • it always cheers me up to see ciaran, ronnie, john and barney as jolly young lads :) ahh luke wish you joined up earlier..

  • luke was there from the start, (it was luke who named the group)

he just left for a year or two.

  • brilliant!!!!!!!!!

  • During this time, they were caled The Ronnie Drew Group, brilliant, only John and Barney is still with us, great playing, thanks for posting.

  • When I heard Barney's banjo playing in 2007 I thought he was only that good because he'd been working on it for 40 years. This proves me wrong, he was just as good back then! Legends, all of them!

  • He was born with a tenor in his hands, they had too pull him out sideways because the neck of the banjo wouldn't fit.

Ok maybe my stories aren't as good as Barney might tell 'em but he is a legend and a master of the tenor banjo!

  • Barney Mckenna at his peak, his very best, one of the sweetest tenor banjo-men ever and Ciaran Burke plays a hell of a tin pennywhistle !!!

  • If I had lived in the 60´s I would fall in love with Ciarán :)

    .

    Great! Love it!

  • Ciaran Bourke=Legend

  • FANTASTIC!!

  • Ciarán I met in O'Donoghue's in his final year & Bobby Lynch who I also knew. I'll say no more about Barney---should be President.

  • Brilliant, Irish Folk at its very best

  • Ciaran Rocks!! Luke Ronnie John and all Dubs too! Greets from Germany

  • wow---bobby lynch
