Where can I find these? Are they on DVD? I rather get these old ones than the new ones. It's one of the finest live performances I've ever sen on the net. Glory to the brave men who died.
some kid on a ukulele gets 45 million hits on youtube and this only gets 37,246, people dont know what real music is any more, Barney and co are pure class!
Ciarán & Bobby ~~ go ndeana Dia trócaire ar a anam dhílis. Met Ciarán in O'Donoghue's Pub a year before he died . Also knew Bob--may they both rest in peace.
hey i was just on the wikipedia page for ciaran bouke and there's only one line wirtten about him.
i think its a shame that there's so little written about such a wonderful musican and such an important figure in irish music. i wouldn't know an awful lot about his life so i thought maybe someone on here could do up his page a bit! thanks.
listening on the radiogram to the records, while the pig's feet boiled in the scullery. so they would be ready for the match at Croker...........Up the dub's
When I heard Barney's banjo playing in 2007 I thought he was only that good because he'd been working on it for 40 years. This proves me wrong, he was just as good back then! Legends, all of them!
gifted or what.

The second tune is actually not "The Longford Collector", it's called "The Boyne Hunt"! You might want to change that to avoid some confusion.. :-)

jimmylad53 3 years ago 2
He was born with a tenor in his hands, they had too pull him out sideways because the neck of the banjo wouldn't fit.
Ok maybe my stories aren't as good as Barney might tell 'em but he is a legend and a master of the tenor banjo!
Anokpoet 2 years ago 28
Barney Mckenna at his peak, his very best, one of the sweetest tenor banjo-men ever and Ciaran Burke plays a hell of a tin pennywhistle !!!
