Oh, how awesome - you posted the one I mentioned in the other episode's commentary section.
'Tis appreciated.
I can't believe with all the junk out on the new formats, they can't put beautiful shows like this out on 'em (DVD) - will it cost THAT much to them to do it? Wankers.
This is one of my all-time favorite "Valerie" episodes, along with "Leave It to Willie". I have the original NBC airing somewhere (I wish I hadn't left my tapes unmarked). Is your version unedited?
BTW, I love the dance that Jason does with Valerie. The only version of "Wooly Bully" that I have is a syndicated PAX version. Damn, I wish they'd release this show on DVD already!!!
Yeah, it seems like us completists are running into problems with either credits or commercial bumps. But again, as long as the episode itself is unedited, I can live with it.
You and I are acquiring quite a collection of sorts. We'll have the whole series uploaded at the rate we're going. I just hope it sets in motion a demand for the show to either be aired again in syndication and/or released on DVD. To do that, we have to get people to remember the show. This is how you & I can do so.
I guess the only modifications I had to make to this episode was to add JUDITH KAHAN as Annie Steck to the opening credits, add the Valerie bump and recreate the end credits. I am huge on restoring these the best I can. I feel you completely.
My only downfall is I work a lot of hours during the week, so I can't quite keep up to you, but our subscribers will love both of us for doing the best we can.
My thoughts were to add both our upload collections to our respective video logs to make complete in order episode listings on both our pages. I know you hate my syndicated versions, but if its all we have, its all we have.
I don't hate your syndicated versions since I have many myself, ironically from when the show was first aired on PAX. PAX didn't edit the eps when they first aired them, & I have a few of those. I didn't record them religiously, thinking I'd get them in the next rotation. But the next time they aired, they were edited.
I do prefer unedited eps if at all possible, which is why I too go to great pains to patch credits onto other eps. It's to create a feeling of a DVD release I guess.
What do you mean by this? Combine our eps together onto one VALERIE/VALERIE'S FAMILY/HOGAN FAMILY page? If so, I'd be all for it. I'm for anything that will make it easier for all fans to have access to this show, so if I have to relinguish my page to do so, I'm in favor of it. Besides, I have other things I could post in its place.
no no, we could hang on to our separate youtube pages - but one can add any youtube video they'd like on their playlist pages. The same "The View" and "Valerie/Hogan Family" playlists that are on your page.
I was recommending that if I have episodes on my page you don't, you add them to your playlist. I add yours to mine. We then have 2 seperate but as complete as can be V/VF/THF playlists to capture as wide of an audience as we can. Make sense?
Sure does, and I'm all for it. I will definitely take you up on it. I just want to finish uploading what I have first. I've come across eps I forgot I had. I really should have kept a better system of tracking what I have. Maybe at the time I remembered all, but again, this was so long ago.
I also have the Valerie Harper series "City" which co-starred Lu Ann Ponce, Danny's real-life sister. The show aired opposite "The Hogan Family" and I hope to upload those at some point. Interested?
What's ironic is that Val's character, Liz Gianni, was a widowed mother whose husband was named Michael. Lu Ann Ponce played her daughter Penny. And Val went through various hairstyles in the short season that was reminiscent of Valerie Hogan. Very odd & ironic circumstances indeed.
I was sad to see that series didn't take off. I've never seen it, but from the pictures I've seen, Val looks simply beautiful and like she's back on top of the world. It would be neat to see it.
It was a great show. It took a while to get into it because I kept wanting her back with the Hogans, but it more than grew on me. It was a solidly written series and very funny. Lu Ann was good too, although she looks NOTHING like Danny.
I have a V/VF/THF webpage, even though I haven't updated it in years. Have you seen it? Here it is:
w w w . h t t p : / / w w w . a n g e l f i r e . c o m / m u s i c 2 / e j s n e t /
Sorry about the spacing but youtube won't let URLs be posted.
Anyway, there's a small page within that site that is on "City", along with another page that shows me meeting Valerie Harper in person when she was doing her book tour. Check it out when/if you have the time.
I love when Dave sits on Val's lap it's so cute and funny. I also LOVE their dance, so cute!!!

Yes, all of my S2 is unedited, with the exception of not having the original end credits.
