A half cut cabbage is much more difficult to cut off than a whole one in this direction because its weight is less to react the blade.

ummm, not really. Even if the cabbage is as light as an apple, you'd still be able to cut it if your sword is sharp. Weight only matters if you have a dull blade.

I understand what you mean. The sharpness is one factor and the weight of the object to cut one of the factors.

aye, but even 1/4 of a cabbage is heavy enough to be cut w/o problems. Ever try one of those white ceramic or titanium kitchen blades? I think the ceramic ones are produced in Japan...with either blade, you can literally just rely on gravity to cut veggies. :D
