  • I wondered what the Lady of Pain looked like... Sucks to be that guy, though. Although, I must admit, the fact that the Lady of Pain was even in ANY bar is astonishing. But she was EXACTLY how I imagined her: a powerful magician of some sort with a cold disregard for how much damage she does to any who cross her... *nervous grin*

  • 3 natural 1s in a row

    what are the chances?(0.000125%)

o wait then theres int check the last diplomacy

    then all the saves...

wow he got one unlucky stream of rolls

  • Go for the jello! you can eat her right up!

  • That first frame is outstanding

  • LOL

  • It's been a while, but isn't the lady of pain more.. "powerful"(easiest way to phrase it) Than anyone ever including the gods, but only as long as she's in Sigil? (this is the thing that basically owns a city on the top of the pillar of dimensions, right?)

  • @Keijikrall No need to use a boulder to crush an ant though is there?

  • @hockeater True, but I was just asking, I thought I remembered her being capable of banning demon princes and gods out of sigil but still letting Demons/Devils and Celestial in, which sounds pretty damn impressive.

  • @Keijikrall Oh among other great things. I would literally bet on her in a fight with a god. Not even kidding.

  • @hockeater Ya, that's what I thought XD I heard she's rumored to be the incarnation of magic or something, I think that'd mean that only Mistra would even be capable of fighting on par if it came to that, given she is the goddess of magic.

  • @Keijikrall No as a god she ranks lower I think. I'd say bring in at least two of the mystic gods. Maybe then we can talk.

  • @hockeater Mystra is the most powerful being in the Dungeons and Dragons lore aside from Ao himself. This is why her Chosen are powerful enough to face off against Demon Princes.

  • @Verixus113 The lady of pain is literally the one that tells gods to sod off. She literally defends the very fabric of reality. It puts her a step above some upstart god replacement. Midnight came before Mystra and many mystras of varying power have in fact come and gone.

  • @hockeater ... No... Ao is the one who keeps the gods from messing everything up.

  • @Verixus113 Varies by setting and edition actually. This however is beside the point as neither of us have actually stated the most powerful being in dnd. Here's a hint. He's a kobald. An infamous retardedly overpowered kobald.

  • @hockeater lol, the most powerful being in our campaigns was a character we created which was a small blue mouse, who wore a crown, and swung a mace of all-slaying. He also had cleaving, and successfully critted on 17 or higher.

  • @hockeater he was the self-procaimed ruler of everything.

  • @Verixus113 Look up pun-pun if you haven't seen him yet. He's the most terrifying thing in all of dnd.

  • Poor Mike, that -4 to intimidate for being smaller than his target really screwed him over.

  • damn he's got a lot of con

  • low charisma mod much much?

  • This is really amazing Adam!

  • lol some dudes just dont get it

  • WOW, just ADAM is REAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYyy gory.

  • The Lady of Pain looks like a female Arisen in Allods Online.

  • havn't finished playing planescape torment but I sure how my hero wasn't stupid enough to hit on her to end up being sliced up and beaten like he just did.

  • "Clearly there is only one choice.... Intimidate!" LMAO

    Not your finest hour Francis...

  • *thumbs up+Fav+suscribe*

  • At least he didnt try to go into her shadow XD

  • The lady of... The dipshit tried to pick up the Lady of Pain?! O.O

    .

    .

    .

Huh... and he got off easy too. She must like him.

  • You are the best creator I have ever seen....You creations have something amazing in them that makes me want more...or create more...Subscribing

  • Ouch... Well, thats' what you get for trying to hit on Lady of Pain. Of course, that guy was pretty lucky she just rejected him and didn't actually take him home.... XD

  • He rolled tons of natural ones...

  • @CBWolfy Not at all. There were a few Natural 20's in there. It's just that a Natural 20 is useless against the Lady.

  • @Terralventhe That's the magic of sheet-less NPCs. No one can beat them, not even the biggest munchkin on earth.

  • @Grandstra Such a shame that this generation of whiny gamers insist that everything have a character sheet, so that they can use their +53 Warhammer of Petulance to smite it and stroke their game-peen in bragging.

  • I loved this clip so much that I made a mod for my D&D group about this it was so much fun three botches in a row.

  • Ooo, Grisly.

  • These movie is a frame by frame animation or a cut-out animation? thx in advanced :-D

  • i still say, fuck you DnD 4th ed (if you say i havent played and i am wrong, kiss your ass, i have played that shit) go for pathfinder, it is basicly DnD 3.75, a better version of 3.5

  • Our Lady of Pain!

  • All the more reason for me to be an even bigger fan of yours. Well done once again! X3

  • He got off easier than most people who come on to the Lady of Pain. Or say something to the Lady. Or are otherwise noticed by the Lady.

  • oooo... he really needs to get new dice, he rolled a natural one 3 times in a row. lol

  • That could have gone better, maybe he should have just tried the Gel Cube.

  • awesome.

  • "Now let's see...Hmm, I've been boned by her before."

  • A Ten Foot Pole...now that is a funny joke, I mean we always need it when we don't have it, and have it when we don't need it

    LMAO XD

  • NEVER FLIRT WITH THE LADY OF PAIN!!!!!!

  • Great work! And a particularly awesome looking version of the Lady of Pain, btw. I'd like you to make a lot more, but then, what have I ever done for you?

  • that was merciful for the lady of pain

  • If I ever played an epic bard, my goal is to sleep with the lady of pain and survive to tell to tale.

  • these videos are awsome, is there a site where they are all posted in order or are they just here?

  • Adam Philips is da man...love these shorts man.i said before u shud do a whole series man

  • uhmmm... I have a few questions, please answer:

first of all, i just thought id comment here since i might get a reply quicker.

1: Who is the animator of this and do you think he/she could help me with something?

2: How do you do the intro thing in the beggining? do you have any toturials or anything like that?

    3. about how long does it take for you to make animations like these, and does the program cost alot?

hope you can answer these questions...thanks :)

  • Not enough Francis!

  • Hello I have a question about Toon Boom. What I need to know is, how do you save a piece of art or character into the library and make it open up in other projects. Please if you would be so kind as to make a step by step on how to save to the library. StupidParrotTV

  • Oh, mah gawd. That refraction effect is incredible! Amazing work through and through!

  • But the most important thing is: How do you make this glass???

  • DAMN!!!!

  • The upbeat song around when he's getting murderized, what is it, where can I find it?

  • @jetpendragon that's called "Sigil 'n Styx" and I commissioned Lee Miller to make it especially for this movie. I'll put the tune on my site for download at some point.

  • @chluaid I don't mean to sound presumptuous or rude, but um...when were planning on putting that tune up?

  • LOL ".....Breath mint?"

  • And how do you make the blood?

    Do you use Morphing?

I really wanna know all these things! :(

  • @Lilac354 no that's just frame-by-frame animation :)

  • Can you make a tutorial how the effects work and what effects you use for your vids?

I'm working with toonboom digital pro too but I'm not so good....

  • @Lilac354 yep I'm working on some demonstration videos right now. Coming soon.

  • 2:25 :)

4th edition got rid of Sigil in its' manual to the planes. Was this vid. a shout-out to settings past or was WotC going to release a 4th Edition Planescape that they've delayed/abandoned?

  • "Oh no! Not the bags of Howling!"

    *Crounch*

    "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH*

  • @zixie123 its bags of holding not howling

  • OMG the styx oarsman!! I DMed the expedition to demonweb pits campaign for 3.5 and my PCs used it as their home base in sigil..... man those were the days

  • omg, this is so crazy awesome!~

    big planescape fan.

  • So who is this "Lady of Pain"?

  • This being from this 90's rpg called planescape:Torment. She essentially kills your immortal character, who is never supposed to die ahaha.

  • Shit man

  • sadly, you are wrong... All of this is based on Dungeons and dragons. Almost all rpgs use some lore from d&d, that is what could of mixed you up

  • The Lady of Pain is the ruler of the city of Sigil a city that is effectively a giant crossroad in the multiverse. It was a city in epic level handbook 3.0 and a very fun one at that. They never gave many (if any) details on the Lady of pain but worship of her is forbidden and she's powerful enough that no one's ever really meddled with her city. Considering it has a bunch of cocky adventurers that reach epic level, pit fiends, angels, and so forth that says a lot.

  • Damn!!!

  • Everything you said is correct, plus Sigil goes back as far as 2nd Edition, where it was the centerpiece of the "Planescape" campaign setting. The Lady of Pain was sort of like the setting's mascot.

  • I knew it went back further than 3.0 just fuzzy on the details. Never played 2nd edition to my regret although I've heard it was the best of the editions at least in the area of roleplaying. And just so I don't cause a big argument, I'm sure each is good in one way or another and it depends on individual opinion, a lot of people I've met however advocated for 2nd edition.

  • I'd say 2E definitely went heavier into flavor text and world-building than 3E, yes. However, the rules were needlessly complicated and unintuitive, and by the end of its lifespan 2E had picked up way too much baggage. Just mentioning "THAC0" can make some gamers foam at the mouth.

  • I thought that guy died.

  • There are others like him...

    Kenny of Southpark

    Freddy Kruger

Any of the characters from Happy Tree Friends

They live in a continuity bubble that allows them to remember the past without being effected by it.

  • One problem: that isn't the Styx Oarsman. That's the Black Sails tavern. They screwed up and used the name of one with the appearance of the other. They're pretty iconic within the setting, so that's pretty damn sloppy. 4e fails yet again.

  • Your girlfriend fails yet again, to exist.

  • (singing)"LADY OF PAIN I ADORE THEEEEEEE...":P

  • I suspect most of the critics are of course, your usual youtube idiots, or are painfully unaware of DnD lore.

Trying to Hit on the dread Lady of Pain of sigil is probably the quickest way to either a quick annhilation, or an eternity of pain in her prison, The Maze.

That said, it was fairly amusing, and the animation was well done.

  • Yea, I played in a Planescape campaign back in 2000-01, and our party went into the Styx Oarsman more than once. (That said, that's NOT how I envisioned it, and wonder why there's a sodding moon outside.) The Lady of Pain seemed very restrained, too. :-D

I giggled when he said, "Perfect," and laughed when he followed with, "Clearly there's only one choice--Intimidate!" :-D

It just occurs to me that I wouldn't dare even make an illusion of the Lady of Pain while in Sigil...she's THAT scary!

  • @Jerakal Well, it was funnier than just mazing him. Not a whole lotta funny stuff that can be done with a berk that's just been mazed.

  • @Jerakal Well, maybe it IS a bad idea. But +10 manliness just for trying!

  • @Jerakal These "YouTubers" are not even worth troll food. :P

  • O_O im so perturbed now :S

  • That's one bloody pulp. Ugh.

  • "Not the bags of holding!" LOL

  • Painfully unfunny.

  • Is the reporter guy that dense?

  • Awsome animation, great sound... but bad history...

  • Howsabout this:

The little guy goes in to pick up and the evil pain woman causes him some grief ie: a drink in the face followed by a knee to the ghoulies etc. but still he persists.

Then a big minotaur or somthing comes up sporting a huge scowl and says "scuse me sir, but is this lady bothering you?"

"What? Oh no, no. " The beaten reporter asures him. "I'm perfectly..."

"What have I told you about harassing the customers, Hagra?" Says the Minotaur. "Come on! You've been warned. Out!"

  • The reporter tries to protest as the newcomer bounces the Pain Lady out the door before turning his close attention back to the reporter who stands speechless.

"So sorry about that." He says chumily as he gently pats the Little guy's back. 'You'll have to excuse some of the weirdos we get in here."

"N.. Not at all... I..." He stutters as the giant bull-man playfully tickles his chin.

"Now, How'sabout buying me a drink?"

  • Yeah... in D&D the Lady of Pain is someone that is so scary the gods don't mess with her and don't set foot in Sigil because of it.

I wasn't terribly enthralled by this one. It had some moments but I think the Lady of Pain was a bad choice for this sort of comedy.

  • Who else would you try to pick up appart from THE Lady?

  • If I wanted to breathe for 3:22 longer, anyone else.

  • ...you need to work on your writing, this was bad.

  • What was he looking at when he said "Maybe after a few drinks?"

  • At 1:02? gelatinous cube, probably...

  • a gelatinous cube

  • A big jelly like cube thing...

  • HAHAAH, I was not expecting it to be this brutal, but it just kept going on and on. I laughed a lot at "we're just going to be friends" and how his eye rolls off.

  • Great Vid. I kinda like the Lady ^^ 'Okay we're just gonna be friends....' - Boom!

Is there any chance to get that Background music? Sounds very good to me ;)

  • PwND. Lols been boned by her before... Rofl to funny and the peoplebin the credits sound like they have the time of there life. Howcome all the european dudes get to have fun. Dammit miami beach! You have failed me!!

  • Amazing. Always loved you work ever since the groundbreaking Prowlies at the river. Can't wait to hear more tales from Brackenwood.

  • brilliantly done.

  • Adam is an absolute beast, keep it up!

  • any sequel? i want more more more more

  • Hilarious.

  • The attention to detail keeps on getting better! I liked what you did with the subtle highlights to bring out all the dimensions of textures like hair and glass. The background movement is also very well done. Poor Mike....

  • Best animator ever, great job Adam.

  • Awesome :-D!

  • oh wow full screen high quality yumness!
