This is an example of how racing should be.! Exciting! Heart Pounding! Close enough to see
the jockey guiding his mount in and around, the rest of the field. Which is not easy unless your P.Val. If a race horse has any burst of speed for getting to the finish line first. This jockey can let them go. I'am going to miss P.Val. He is such a classy guy, very bright ,and I would blush,as we rode our horses to the track, every morning,at Santa Anita Race Track,1986. He is S.Cal Racing, top jock always.
Quelle course !
This race still rates as one of, if not the singularly most impressive performance of any Breeders Cup race since the inception of the Breeders Cup races in 1984. Arazi was a one horse wrecking machine in this race!!
Arazi was amazing as a two year old. Allan Paulson liked to name his horses after aeronautical navigational checkpoints, the most famous of which was Cigar. Arazi was a Kentucky bred, but became famous in Europe. Was it the arthroscopic surgery that really stopped him in the Kentucky Derby? I don't know, but that's racing. - Oh, one more thing, one of the other posts seemed to suggest Arazi was too small, no, War Admiral, Count Fleet, AP Indy - many top horses are on the small side.
This still may be the most singularly impressive win, as far as a horse completely destroying the opposition, in Breeders Cup history. Horses aren't supposed to beat a Breeders Cup field by the margin that Arazi won the Juvenile by. The Breeders Cup was meant to draw the best of the best from all over the U.S., Europe, and beyond. Amazing that Arazi was so much more dominant than the other juveniles of that time.
One of, if not the greatest race in Breeders cup history and what makes it special is he was only 2. Right up there with Personal Ensigns win over winning colors
Several of these 2 year olds came back for the Kentucky Derby: Arazi, Dance Floor, Pine Bluff, Snappy Landing. Big Sure and Agincourt also entered 1992 Triple Crown Challenge events.
Arazi was amazing in this... and has been a wonderful broodmare sire in his retirement. Arazi has incredible heart... this gives me goosbumps every time I see it --- especially when the caller shouts, "...and Arazi runs right by him!!!!"
Haha, it's alright, no one was ready for that incredible performance! Arazi's romp is one of my very favorite races of all-time, without a doubt. Yes, he did indeed remind me of Big Red with his dominance and that stunning turn of foot. :)
his son congaree arguably the best dirt miler of the last 15 years

He reproduced that form on soft turf in Europe as a three-year-old, but never on dirt, though he did begin a tremendous run in the Kentucky Derby.

I wonder how Secretariat V Arazi as 2yo's would have compared. Bloody exciting race that would have been.....

I'll never forget the audible gasp from everybody watching this that day at Laurel Park when Arazi made his move.

The most amazing move I have ever seen, and his Derby move was huge too. Probably Durkin's best call.
