  • That was awesome!

  • The puppies furr, does it stay that light or does it change to darker in time? Thank you in return!

  • I can't wait to get my RR and start training him :D

  • are Rhodesian Ridgebacks easy to train as a one person dog ? or do they protect as natrual instingt

  • man i realllllly want one of these guys, do you know how much they go for?

  • @toluca9 the rhodesian ridgebacks... pure bred of course, go for around $750-1k

  • looks like they mind great. they say that they are stubborn and hard to train.

  • @HOPSING08 They are stubborn alright..when I lock my dogs out, my lab will just accept it and wait.. my RR will complain for ages. And just when you think he s given up, you ll hear his paw scratching on the door followed by a quick bark or a frustrated whine.

  • I want a Rhodesian Rideback so bad!

  • I am also very interested in available breeders. My parents currently live in Greenville and breed/show black and tans. I am originally from Piqua and now live in Indiana. PLS, PLS refer a local breeder. I am would like to purchase by the end of the year. The only one close I saw was in Anderson, Indiana? dougpreece@yahoo

  • good work. how old are they?

  • The coolest thing i ever taught my RR was to pull a tab on the fridge and grab any can that was on the bottom shelf. It was a real crowd pleaser when my dog would go get me a beer. Took her 4 months to get everything down, and another few to stop putting holes in the can.

  • beautiful pair!

  • Very impressive! my 21 week old pup knows how to sit, paw, stay and down. I would love to train her to wait for my call before she eats her treat. Great job! Your dogs are awesome!

  • Hahaha! Nice dude. Very cute.

  • awesome video. i'd love to have a ridgeback but i travel too much to get a dog. yours are beautiful

  • ha my 2 ridges would never be that docile, great vid cant get my pup to lay down for the hell of it

  • wow. beautiful to see. i've so far taught my 14 week old puppy to sit but she doesn't know 'down' or 'jump' or 'shake' or 'stay and wait.' how did you teach them? i'm very impressed!

  • Nice :)

  • absolutely beautiful dogs, had one as a puppy when i was 8 up until last year he died im 23 now. he was a very smart dog like yours there. but the arthritis got too him :( miss him so much

  • hello there...

I'm planning to start cross-breeding RRs with Golden Retrievers (hong-kong's favorite dog..but he does suffer in the heat)

I think the similar size, look, body-shape, and BRAINS of these two dogs should lead to a very handsome, fit and SMART dog indeed.

does ANYONE know of anyone else that cross-breeds THESE two breeds?...as I am looking for puppy exchanges around spring of 2011

  • PS, I am in partnership with a leading HK vet-service.

WE theorise that due to the two breeds having such similar personalaties and shape, there should be NO "mutation" problems In-fact, although looking and behaving SO similar, they are actually very distantly-related breeds, it SHOULD give them much better ratios of general-health and avoidance of common hereditary problems such as cancers and hip-displacia.

we hope to have the health of a mongrel, + the beauty & brains to beat ANY "Pedigree"

  • hey there say your comment, i have a ridgeback pup and he is extremly intelligent, i know its common for owners to praise there dogs and exagurate a bit but i dont lie hes a champ from show dog lines... the breeder where we got "diesel" had attempted to cross them before and her 1 successful attempt was alsatation/ridgeback both of pedigree standerds, and what a dog, smaller lighter black well manerd and beutifull, and still had the ridgback face... i urge you to go for this if its your choice

  • wow really well trained dogs. My Ridgeback came from at least two other homes and was abused at one of them when she was a pup. We didn't get her till she was about three and by then couldn't give her the training she could have had, but she's still a well behaved and has a lovely nature.

  • Good training my ridge would only operate with whispers.....if i raised my voice he ignore me.....

  • I'm in love with both of them. Gawd I watch this video at least twice a day. It's makes me feel warm inside :o)

  • Using a praise marker for good and bad would limit the number of times you have to give them a command. Practice on them doing what you ask, first time you make command. good job though. Training a dog is something that is not only beneficial to us but also to the dog.

  • thats great the way you train them

    and very smart to.

  • Yes, I have two bohters who so kind to each other, and they are and have been very mercifully behave pals at less than nine months.

  • Do you happen to have the name of the Breeder in Greenville? We were talking to one up there about getting another dog. Probably the same since RR are hard to come by.

  • AMAZING!

  • such nice dogs

  • Nice video, looks like he is having alot of fun.

  • Hello,

What a good training!! We have a 20 weeks old thodesian x labrador pup (look at my video) . H didn't good listening. ;) He barks against the bos.

    Greeting from Holland.

  • I am in Miami, How can contact you for a female pup?

  • Ridgebacks are so smart

  • So when do you expect your new litter, and where are you in the United States? We have an 11-month Golden Retriever at the house, and I'd love to add an RR to the home.

  • Our 2 year old female should go into heat in the Jan/Feb 09 timefame. So we should have pups in the Spring of 09. We're outside of Cincinnati, Ohio

  • omg they r so cute

  • hey. how good are they with other dogs. ive got a dobi and just wondering how they are with other dogs besides rhodesians

  • hey man nice RR's, my dad had a good loyal one of these in kenya that took that spitting cobra stuff in the eye while defending him. Was wondering if they shed much though because he can't remember and I would love to have one.

  • Ridgebacks don't shed much. They have short hair so the little bit they do shed is not much of a problem. My wife brushes their hair backwards once a week and any hair comes out outside. We now have a 3rd which is a breeding female. We plan to breed her near the start of 2009. Keep in touch if you are still interested.

  • would be intrested but your in the states and im in Britan

  • That could be a problem. Anyway they are great dogs and would highly recommend if you can find a local breeder.

No shed, No bark, No dig. They are hounds.

They lay around and when you want to do something they are ready to go. Very samrt.

The older male knows over 30 commands

  • are they easy to train as puppys to get them outside to go to the toilet rather than on the carpets.

  • yes, we trained all three of ours in matter of a couple weeks.

  • I love the "stay and wait". I need to try that one. Beautifu dogs.

  • Very nicely done. Love seeing well trained dogs.

  • Very nice! You got one of yours to teach the other! It seems to get a bit easier when you get your second one! :-)
