This series came out when i was only 13 years old. I lived on a farm and didn't have tv. ( my mother's choice) as a result, I spent a lot of time inside my own imagination. Now, years later, my kids have almost all grown, I still spend hours in my own little world. I watched the original Battlestar Galactica on Netflix and I fell head over heels in love with Apollo. Who can resist such a strong, caring, gentle and wise man? Oh, and handsome. Thankyou Richard, for being Apollo. I love you. :)

the premise for this episode puzzled me - if they could fly secretly onto the basestar, why did they not carry along an explosive device powerful enough to blow up the whole shebang so there'd be no need for a battle? One may ask where they'd get such a bomb but, in the pilot movie, they were able to blow up a whole planet just by shooting a handgun into a nondescript subterranean ceiling

If you buy the DVD series they have some bonus features with cast commentary.

Some of the deleted scenes were interesting and it was cute the Starbuck-Cassiopia comments and takes.

And the girls/boys games!

It's a shame they didn't think to do interviews with Lorn Green and that Baltar character about the series.

I was surprised to learn this original series holds the record for highest ratings of series openers.

It's sad a top 3 series gets cancelled despite highest sci-fi series ratings.

If u'd truly read all the posts for both versions u'd see that I've taught science & history for 25 years. I've done location work for these programs up here, because of a relative who is in Casting. I've also worked with people from the Cable companies like 1 of Pat's roomies in charge of programming to do polling of our students after Science Fairs as to what tvseries/movies/channels they like to watch & their reasons why. So from knowing people in casting to the cable ratings, i know that.

Holy hell, you're retarded. I don't know somebody could watch the show and come away thinking that unless they were already suffering from some pretty serious psychological problems.

The original Battlestar was foolish even for the late 70's, the original Star Trek was made a decade before and never dated as badly while managing to stay relevant. I love Dirk Benedict and Lorne Greene too, but BSG is one show that needed a remake and the new version is clearly superior to the original.

I'm not a fan of either myself, but some of our kids & grandkids are & it seems clear to me that the original series was more popular since it made network line-up while the new series couldn't help getting cancelled on cable no less. Maybe you have a different idea of 'superior'.

You probably think I would say the original was the best, but no... The new BSG is the best. The story is deeper, the acting better (with the exception of Grace Park), and of course the effects kick azz compared to the old school. Sorry guys.
