Poor swedish people I guess their ears are bleeding while listening to all the other languages for me I like swedish , because I made holiday there often and german as most, cause I am growing up with that. But english is terrifing not really the lyrics but I guess it would make no sense in english to take the orginal one. :D Peace for the World!

As far as the English dubbing may be from perfection, please keep in mind that most American children don't know Swedish. If they were ever going to be introduced to this wonderful character and story, it was going to have to be in English.

Of course, in this age of DVDs, it should be possible to hear the movie either way. I checked "Pippi in the South Seas" out from my local library, and was disappointed that original Swedish with English subtitles was not an option.

The English version is annoying -- the actors doing the voice-overs are actually older than the real actors -- the translations (done by other staff) are also horrible because they chose words to fit the lip movement and phrasing and thus the dialog sounds clunky and disjoint.

Thats why its so unique. If you seen the origional movie that was shown during the 80s on ktla 5, the whole movie is like that; the dubbing is second only to those really cool kung fu movies.

of it if you really want to cringe. Being Swedish-American, I went to the theaters to see it, but could understand

alot of the dialoge that they were saying in Swedish by the way their mouths were moving speaking Swedish.. Pure torture. I'm so glad that the Swedish version is

up on youtube. I'm trying to un-do heal. LOL.
