Its not that she cant hit the notes dude. At that time, the whole Nightwish "big time" tour experience and pressure was wearing her out. It did not help that she is a rocker. During this concert she rocked harder than anyone. Its why she collapsed from exhaustion while here in the US and was in the hospital for days. They had to cancel several dates so she could catch up her rest. I was lucky to see them twice on that tour. Even ate with them at ProgPowerUSA. Marco has been my friend since.
Musically, Nightwish are just getting better and better! Annette is a great front-woman and fits in with the rest of the band perfectly, she can hit some incredible notes :)

Power is an imaginary unit, you can't physicaly measure or feel it, but you can calculate it from other units and also you can imagine the feeling of the power. Maybe she sings louder (her singing technique alows that), or with higer pitch, but that's not power. Look at her expressions while she sings. I bet she spends more energy then Tarja singing that same song. The best feeling of power comes from opera and classical singers.

I don't know guys, I think this is my favorite Old Nightwish Redone song. I really like Anette's vocalizations. And, the shouty parts blend into the song very well. She sings with a lot of passion and you can see it. Or, at least I can.

This song USED to be great. Tarja made it sound darker, more gothic, and sang with MUCH more passion. Her highs really struck a contrast with the instruments, whereas Anette sounds like she's yawning at spots shouting in others. She also does that super annoying HEP HEP which she adds to just about EVERY fucking song she sings.

I was a bit afraid, being a huge "Tarja-era-lover" but this actually sounds good. Actually I think it sounds ok because even when sung by Tarja, it was not that opera-like and epic as other old NW songs are. This is a song that Anette can sing pretty well, along with the songs that were recorded with her. Nonetheless, I think there are songs that she should stay away from, such as Wishmaster and Ever Dream, for her sake and the sake of the fans.

That's what a small band does in nightclubs. Really great bands don't do it, as it ruins the atmosphere of the performance and turns it into a nightclub act, rather than a concert.
I once saw Joe Walsh (formerly of the Eagles) at a "concert" where he'd tell jokes between songs. It was pretty sad, being that he was once a really great performer.

If she didn't have to struggle to make herself heard over the instruments, maybe it wouldn't sound so weird. But I have to say that she really can't make the older songs work for her. They are heavy-metal songs and they need a powerful voice to accompany them.

Annette cant even hit the notes Traja can, the old Nightwish was not written for Antonette even the back track singers kick her butt. The new Nightwish was written for her. Anette is Britney Spears trying to sing metal. It just does not work at all!

I have to say, I prefer this song with Tarja, but Annette has a great voice too. and I agree with the people saying that you shouldn't complain about a different singer.
but I just got used to the original with Tarja, and I think that just sounds better.

Anette can't sing well - that's a fact. She gets out of tune many times. It hasn't to do with new or old songs. It has to do with singing ability.

@TheDarkrai915 Yes, I've seen later performances. I've noticed she improved a little, but still the voice is too uncontrolled, unsure and many times out of tune. The question is not to give time! An amateur singer can also practice for 2 years, then improving a little and he/she is ready for Nightwish...c'mon. That should not be the logic to hire a main singer for such a band. They should hire someone that really can sing at a good level! Damn it!

why the fuck ppl keep talking about anette vs tarja? dont you know it's a BAND, there r more things 2 worry about: lyrics, music, performing... if NW wanted a new vocalist was 'cause they didnt feel ok with tarja, and when u have problems with someone in the band it becomes a mess, everyone who has a band know that. if u think all its about voice u are listening the wrong genre dude, have you heard about VAN CANTO well their work is really about voice, NW is aBAND not just vocals

This song USED to be great. Tarja made it sound darker, more gothic, and sang with MUCH more passion. Her highs really struck a contrast with the instruments, whereas Anette sounds like she's yawning at spots shouting in others. She also does that super annoying HEP HEP which she adds to just about EVERY fucking song she sings.
This sounds like a cover band.

Have ALL OF YOU ever seen the "End of an Era" in Hart Wall Arena?? Yea.. I was there :D:D:D HAHAHA ho yea.. It was the BIGGEST moment of nightwish. since that moment they are tumbling down. nightwish is fucking dead and never gonna be again the same hahaha Nightwish is already dead.

Tarja didn't sing classically all the time, but she has a better voice. And she didn't shout like Anette. I feel, that Anette sings 'from throttle'. . It seems, that she sings in pain, with effort. Tarja sings very easy. Anyway, Anette should not sing songs of 'old' Nightwish. That's my opinion.

I was a bit afraid, being a huge "Tarja-era-lover" but this actually sounds good. Actually I think it sounds ok because even when sung by Tarja, it was not that opera-like and epic as other old NW songs are. This is a song that Anette can sing pretty well, along with the songs that were recorded with her. Nonetheless, I think there are songs that she should stay away from, such as Wishmaster and Ever Dream, for her sake and the sake of the fans.

Esta vocalista está dañando el trabajo de todos los integrantes de la banda.
No tiene el mismo talento ni la destreza que el resto.
Tarja en el escenario se salía y siempre ha habido algo en su voz que atrae y hace que quieras escucharla más.
Pero el timbre de esta chica.. no te engancha.
Desafina demasiado, no controla la voz ni expresa sentimiento alguno...
Nightwish ha perdido muchísimo; no volverá a ser lo que era sin Tarja.

I like so much Anette because she sing very well for me, but I like she for another thing: she talk and she interacts with the fan during the concert, and I think that this is a good thing..Tarja don't do this....

That's what a small band does in nightclubs. Really great bands don't do it, as it ruins the atmosphere of the performance and turns it into a nightclub act, rather than a concert.
I once saw Joe Walsh (formerly of the Eagles) at a "concert" where he'd tell jokes between songs. It was pretty sad, being that he was once a really great performer.

This song was written for Tarja and Anette can't hit the high notes Tarja could reach, and her voice is not nearly deep enough at all. I'm sorry, but Nightwish is a dead band without Tarja.
