Excellent work. One of the best CB's I've seen. The music around 30 seconds into the video makes it sound like you put us on hold, and then that engine comes roaring back.
How much did u spend on the rebuild? got a list of what u did? I might be buying a 550 soon and really like your bike. Is it plenty quick? whats the weight?
deffinitley going to do more reasearch on this settup. SOCH4 forum has a very good description of the setup............My old worn out CB550 front end trough me into a very nasty speed wobble a tear ago. wich did result in going down. don't trust the front end any more. Yes i did check everything for play or excessive wear many times . just old and worn out. in nned of a solution for an upgrade and think i moght have found it...THANX FOR THE VID AND INFO
Great work! What kind of front suspension are you using? I'm looking at putting dual discs on my cafe, however this option looks good and I imagine brakes better than 38 year old technology!
Yes, on the soch4 forum, you will need to make an account for the website to see the pictures that were posted to the thread. Then just go to the forum section ans look under "projects" you will find a build called "squirleys cb550". Hope this helps
@uptobunks so you were talking about using shims to counter the little bit of offset in the bearings when you put the gsxr front end on. what did you use? and have you noticed any wobble or play? i swear when i pulled my front end off it felt like 45lbs, those new forks must be crazy light. again great bike man
Great bike, liked it from the start. I've sold my 550 and riding my 750 now. I regret it, I wanned both bikes butt not enough room. Anyway, your bikes stands with my favorites.

Thanks, the front suspension is from a 2002 gsxr 1000. Let me tell you, it breaks much faster than the old brake setup!
