  • I had one in 1964. I bought it for £42 in Keighley. The front sprocket had no teeth !

I had it on the top of Otley chevin doing 55mph when the engine bearer snapped - so I held the engine in place with my left leg until I got home. The alternator needed re- timing every 10 miles. Piece of junk really but its history !

  • In 2008 ago my hubby gave me my first bike ever - A triumph daytona 675 as a wedding gift. This year for my birthday he gave me his first bike ever - the Triumph toger cub 1964. we are goign to restore it over the winter so I can learn about the engine. The bike had been in storage and not run for 5 years - a bit of fuel and it started ont eh second try - I cant wait to ride it as I love the vintage bikes - it just looks fun!

  • Good luck! :)

  • I had one in 1960, am still in love with the sound can I buy one that is totally redone , that looks and works like new? if so, could you help me to find one?

  • Sorry, I have no idea.

  • I had one 57 model when I was seventeen... now I am 68 and still love it..

  • They had a nice sound like a sort of crackle. But i prefer the smaller handle bars. The original size.

  • I had the same Cub from 1971 tot 1973. He was painted orange and black. But I had often problems with the oil pump. After a few km the engine overheated, but ten minutes later I could restart. Nice low bike and fantastic sound, but poor quality.

  • The sound of that old cub puts a smile on my face. it's a grate sound and i love it :-)

  • i cannot seem to find anyone who is selling one of theirs.

  • i was thinking of putting a straight through extension exuaust on mine. but after listening to that i think she'd be loud enough standard!

  • Thanks ..from the bottom of my heart...I haven't heard that sound in nearly 50 years. Had a 58 cub...in 58. :>)

  • LOL You're welcome! He has all sorts of old classics.

  • I believe one should always wear a tie when riding a Triumph

  • I used to have the Trials bike version,a lovely

little machine when it was running right.Alas it

was in bits more than it was together.I can remember the "Timing Chain" was a utter bastard to set right, then the chronic vibration would put it out again,it was a £never ending story".

Like I said though the eight to ten hours it was in time were truly a magical thrash, eat your heart out XT/DT 250s.The Cub would fucking TAN you anyday.

  • That's the 1961 Tiger Cub. The 1960 had an all-silver tank and a plain black seat. I did my 1960 Cub up to look like the '61. The speedo was wildly inaccurate - showing 75mph when it was actually doing 65.... First thing you did with one of these was to remove the mute from the tail pipe.

  • Ha, it's wallace and gromit's bike!

  • ace! i have a 1960 tiger cub trials, in the process of doing it up...it was in a garage not running for 10+ years got her going in 5 mins...credit to british engineering, plus i can reach the floor:)

  • exellent, i have triumph tiger cub 1963 since 20 years, there is no bike just like it, im famous in my area because of tiger cub.
