  • Ah yes, the legendary Andreas Blau.

  • The audio is wonderful, and the music is even better.

  • I don't think that's a horn. It looks more like a Wagner Tuba!

  • Clarinet sounds awesome at 1:10 !!!

  • richitg klasse!!!! :-)

  • BPO is really inspiring and amazing! I idolize everyone playing in that orchestra <3

  • I'm a little bit confused! Isn't emmanuel pahud the principal flute?

  • @musicfreak3109 Yes, but there are two principal flutes in the orchestra: Emmanuel Pahud and Andreas Blau.

  • @BerlinPhil oh and how do you choose who's gonna play what?

  • What is the name of the clarinet soloist? What type of clarinet does he use?

  • @maestramusique Wenzel Fuchs. I guess he plays with the Oehler system (which is usual in Germany/Austria) and not the Boehm system.

  • @lemidi Ha. If you don't have an Oehler system, you're chances of being in any German/Austrian orchestra are probably greatly lowered...

  • Wonderful!!! woodwind of BPO is awesome!

  • WENZEL FUCHS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love you guys

  • BRAVISSIMO!!!!!!

  • THE GREATEST MUSICIANS!!!!!!!!!!GREAT PERFORMANCE!BRAVOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • Great! Bravissimo. Wonderful played. Nothing more to say.

  • So glad these excellent performances are being uploaded first hand, and in exceptional quality, by the orchestra itself and not VEVO

  • Yes, Radek is usuing a wagner tuba it sounds fantastic :P

  • Yes, it sounds fantastic :P

  • so is their any way of getting this piece or no?

  • @Tarcila62078 It is available only via VOD in our Digital Concert Hall.

  • Awesome! <3 Andreas Blau did a great job. ^^

  • da ballerina di tango posso dire che mi sembra più una marcia.. :-)

  • fantastic music!

  • Great performance!

  • This quintet is amasing!! best I have ever heard...

  • bravo!!!!

    this piece is amazing.

I wonder if this score is published for selling??

  • @cymarcoleung Such a cheeky arrangement! I love this piece, and would love to perform this for my high school certificate so I'm also wondering if there's any way to get the score?

  • @budafwy same for me...i wanna play this for my school annual concert

  • BRAVÍSSIMO!

  • is it Wagner tuba or alto horn?

  • @FranzKEYGUIMPET80 Its a wagner tuba.

  • That was incredible!

  • Very very interesting!! It's new stile Wood-wind 5.

  • Mayer is wonderful

  • Do you know if this arregement is edited? Thank you

  • Woww just take Karl Leister who retired from the Orchestra in 1993,and Dieter Klöcker and compare them to Wenzel Fuchs and Sabine Meyer. You barely here those days that they are German players playing on Würlitzer clarinets. The line between systems and national schools are more and more unclear. Just the sound of the Wind section in the Berliner Philharmoniker is totally different today than it was 20-30 years ago. I

  • I even see more and more German students playing on Boehm system clarinets simply because they are cheaper and easier to learn and more available.

About the clip the sound of the Berliner wind section is fantastic and Wenzel Fuchs(as I'm a clarinetist) is a great player

  • thank you for bringing the Berlin Philharmoniker to us! I love the Digital Concert Hall! :)

  • WHAT'S SO FUNNY in the note on 0:08?? I'm thinking and thinking and still can not figure it out! :)

  • perhaps the initial contrast in the musical styles of playing tango music with orchestral woodwinds.. :)

  • @michalzagan It's the quite sudden BA-DAM!, I can see the fun part of it - but no, I wouldn't bring myself to laughter over it either...

  • Es ist Musik! Es klingt sehr schön, fröhlich, einfach perfect, Favorit!

  • it would have been superb that the entire orchestra perform this magnificent tango...it's a shame...

  • Very nice. It made me smile.

  • World-class playing (of course), and I love the arrangement. Very interesting, and nice, to use the Wagner tuba, Herr Baborak.

For Andreas Blau, I recently was in an airport, and another musician, seeing my Horn case, struck up a conversation. At one point, he asked me who I though was the best flute player in the world. I answered, without hesitation, "Andreas Blau."

I later discovered that I had been chatting with Sir James Galway.

    -Kerry Thompson, Interlochen, 1967

  • @ BerlinPhil, do you know if the scores are original or is it a transcription?

    thank you

  • @Bolorinvasore: In fact, it is an arrangement by Joachim Schmeisser.

  • And do you know where can I get it? It's awesome!! : )

  • I am afraid this might be difficult. Many of his arrangements are written especially for the chamber music groups of the Berliner Philharmoniker, and they have not always been published.

  • aww... ok thank you very much anyway! Really love this piece :)

  • Ya, that kicks you know what...anything less would be a shock.

  • so nice!

  • radek baborak play a wagner's tuba

  • it might be better to play marching horn

    :-)

  • Wow, Albrecht Mayer is HUGE.

  • haaaha baborak playing wagner tuba :) liking it

  • i think it's a tenorhorn....

  • @gotbrazer He´s using a wagner tuba

  • Lovely! Your sound quality is the best one can find on YouTube. (really phantastic.) And I think more symph. orchestras should follow in your footsteps! (=create their own YouTube-site.) How about a little vintage? Some Furtwängler? Or Antonia Brico? (first woman ever to conduct your orchestra.)

  • Thank you for your kind words. As soon as we have acquired the rights to historical performances for our Digital Concert Hall (which we would love to do) we can also upload excerpts here on YouTube.

  • @ellandelachapelle : In my career as a horn player I had the pleasure of doing Sibelious #2 with Antonia Brico conducting. She made us a much better orchestra than we generally were.

  • die berliner phil. is the best

  • Sí, muchas de esas cosas sólo se adquieren en la infancia...
