Nice Video! Such a good idea! We just released a making-of video from the POGO Longboard manufactory in Southern Germany. Check out our YouTube channel to see how they build a Longboard from scratch with snowboard technology!
@chrisdev99 The slant the trucks are on act the same as if you "wedged" your trucks so they should turn better than mounted on the flat section of the board. Have you loosened up your trucks at all? If they are too tight they won't want to turn very much.
I saw the video and I rapidly did one, But I stacked mine with some gullwing trucks I had around and some sector 9 wheels, but thanks for the inspiration man :)
I did this when my longboard deck warped and I didnt have the money for another one... took the trucks off and put em on the ends of my regular deck, which I cut to eliminate wheelbite. Ive been using it for about 8 months now and it carves like a dream. The wider trucks, bigger wheels, and softer bushings really do a lot for the board.
u could also jus make like a short board and get some long board trucks and wheels and put it together like a regular skateboard its pretty fun actually i have one and it handles pretty well jus dont loosen the trucks too much cause the board will hit the wheel and itll toss u off but otherwise its great
How long ago did you male it. I thought of the idea a very long time ago and i reckon is a lot better. I think i thought of it 4 years ago and i have gfh fatties and gullwing alpine trucks. Mines better!!!!
amazon has some nice boards for carving and what not i recommend the atom pintail super carver long board for 100 bucks. or if ur looking for a cheaper one there is the krown dunes complete long board
I just made a shlongboard with regular truck and regular wheels, and it sucks.
If you are going to make a shlong board i would recomend putting longboard trucks, longboard wheels and RISERS. otherwise you cant slide and your turning circle is crap so plz do that and dont waste time
just some advise i can see your trucks are that way round as they are on all skateboards but try turning them around it might make a big difference for you
@781RDevin I did that but with Randal Trucks and Sector Nine Nineball wheels, Walmart board and it is the best sliding board I've ever had! I put the trucks 1" from the tip of the deck and it works great! What I'm thinking of doing is removing the griptape filling the old holes with wood filler and then fiberglassing the bottom and top of the board. I have all the stuff so I'll let you know how it works! :)
Get spacers to raise your trucks and put them on an angle for better turns because you said in a response to a comment that you bomb hills with that thing. And since you bought it from the flea market than it probably came with spacers.
Get better bushings which are only the cost of 3 terrible skateboards from the flee market.
bought an 8 dollar shitty skateboard today just so i could do this, youve inspired me. i already have 2 nice longboard but when my friends wanna come along ill have another one for them to mess around with thanks for posting the vid!
Me and my son did this last weekend! I had some spare parts lying around so we managed to put together a pretty decent board. The only difference is that we cut out the front and back of the board to allow room for the wheels. It rides nice and saved the expense of buying a new longboard. Thanks for sharing your vid! :o)
@nye1956 Cut notches in the end to slide the trucks into, bolted on top of the deck and you get an even lower stance. that with big wheels makes for something quite awesome.
i was told they r called a drop down deck and i made one for my friend and we put randel r-11 180mm trucks with 70mm arbor wheels...i think they are 75A's but it is super sick and the trucks and everything were free so its awesome
Hi, i have a question. I have a mindless maverick longboard, but I'm not really happy with the deck. Do you think that i can ''cut'' another deck out of it??
i did this with my board wayy back. the trick is to get an old school deck with soft bushings, that way when you lower the trucks to the ends it doesnt just go straight, it realy makes a difference having the trucks at the end; on a normal skateboard, a 20 meter hill and you have too much speed woble, but with the trucks at the end there is no limit to how fast you can go. just try not to stand in the middle
@kriptonite95 I know, I made this vid back when I was in my second year of college so I didn't have the money for a legit longboard then. If you've got the cash, then definitely buy a real nice longboard. But for people who don't have the money this works pretty good. Bigger wheels help too.
I built one of those once too as an experiment. The cracks in the board are pretty sketch I wouldn't want to bomb a hill on that board.. But just as a commuter it's fine.
If you want to do one better than that is you can take a skateboard deck and longboard trucks/wheels, moving the trucks up, too. It's in cost and quality something between his shlongboard and a longboard. It'll be a lot smoother and more longboard-like, while still being a lot cheaper than a longboard.
I did the same with my board that i found in my basement - and i totally love it, i put some rollerblade wheels on it and did have some wheelbite, so i threw 1/4 of an inch shim inbetween the board and the already exsisting shim. im a pretty happy pup with it
Yeah just cut out a little bit on the sides. And you can carve that thing like crazy. Plop down a little money for wheels and trucks and your flying baby.
@chumps613 honestly a skeate board deck will work but with out longboard wheels bearing and trucks its really not that much different... easy fix. ebay has longboard wheel packages with every thing u need to ride except a deck for 30 dollars. soooooo worth it
@chumps613 Urethane and good bearings make a board go faster not the board. The lower center of gravity will be better cornering and less chance of speed wobbles. You might want to router out some space to not get wheel bite when you turn.
i didnt no other ppl did this. i thought i came up wit it. damn. i made one for my friend, it was awesome esp cause we used lb truks. then he made it drop thru and ruined it.
I just sold one of these things that I built for $150, put an inch of riser on and some 65mm longboard wheels with soft bushings in the trucks and you've got the most awesome ride ever.
i build one it is awesome i put speeddeamon trucks on it and hudge ass wheels lol i works well just like my real long board it took me like 5 minutes to do so ya thanks
