gros morne may be pronounced with with an s in newfie, however mainland people pronounce it the proper way because technically this is a french word and should well be pronounced in its actual language.. if we would continue this way of speaking then why not pronounce L'anse aux medows (lance ox medows).. did the trail and climbed it last week.. newfoundland is simply beautiful...
@trooper744 I'm fromn Cape Breton I've sbeen on the Cabot Trail it is considered to be hte worlds second most beautiful scenic trial. I havent been to Gros Morne but I'm excited to go see it soon
go to the website or look in the park brochure, it explains that gros morne is latin. "gros" meaning large and "Morne" meaning standing alone. Describing the mountain effectively.
9th graders. school project. In many places the young men DO pronounce it "GROW" not "GROSS" - though they do go back and forth. Why the discrepency, I do not understand. However, I applaud these students for doing a wonderful job on their project ... I surely didn't have the tools they have even in University to do a project of this magnitude .... had to lug around a 50 lb. video camera, cables, etc., and editing was not easy, to say the least! Bravo, young gents!

Hi from Gros Morne! You did a great job on that video! I thought I'd let you know that there are no Elk on the island of Newfoundland, and thus none located in our National Park. The only members of the deer family found on the island are moose and woodland caribou. You'll have to come visit us soon!
@jenhiscock Yea, srry been two years since i took the ferry over to the port.....but regardless of the correct name of the Animal you could hit by vehicle...look at the sign on the main road warning of how many deaths occured by idiot drivers speeding through the parks!
Nice video guys... but that's far from the tallest waterfall in N.A. - British Colombia alone has several taller. Still, awesome place!

Great video. I believe you have mistaken Elk for Caribou. There are no elk in Newfoundland

Gros Morne is pronounced with the s.
We have no elk in Newfoundland. But we do have quite a few caribou.
Other than that, great job Rangers Kim and F-C.

Now I see why the view is so good in that region. Nova Scotia is gonna have a little trouble with their Cabot trail after this place.

I did the Cabot Trail three weeks ago and went to Grose Morne two weeks ago. I totally agree with you.
The Cabot Trail is definately beautiful but Gros Morne is vastly superior.
