@panterask8r14 I play in drop C and I play a set of 12's D'addario is the best in my opinion, they last really long I've been playing the same ones for a year and only thing wrong with them is they are all rusted, but the tone is still good and you can still play very well on them, drop B 12's would probably work too, anything lower I'd suggesy getting either 13w or a 7 string (btw the d'addario 12's are in the red package:P )

@MikeRCJ420 Yeah they last me a year, I play at least 4 hours every day, wash my hands before playing guitar, and when finsihed wipe down my strings with a string cloth, I also don't eat overly greasy food, and tend to avoid Italian food. The problem is with rusty strings is they just CAN'T retain a nice tone, I promise you if you change to a fresh pair you'll be astonished at the difference, also rusty strings dramatically increases fret wear. I'm not trying to discredit you, but for the past 10 years i've never had a set outlast 2 months EVER. When I'm recording I restring daily! peace.

@161194 all of their songs are in B standard tuning... Strings - Zoltan(the rhythm guitarist) uses 13-70, Darrel (lead guitarist) uses 13-56.

And not all the songs of 5FDP are in the same tuning, "The Bleeding" is in Drop C

@kaosknight123 It takes pretty good recording equipment to catch all the bass notes. Its like a 5 string bass guitar. Not all amps can make that 5th string sound good because of the extremely low frequency of the sound. The cameras they use for FPE tv arent that great, or the amps they have in there arent what the player would play through. Also take note some guitar players bring in like 15 watt amps that they carry around just so they can play guitar which doesnt sound the best.

old school vibe. better than the youngsters thats for sure. would sound better without those emgs, maybe a dimarzio paf pro or super distortion instead. emgs are only good for effects processing, they increase the input signal db. the reason is that most digital processing has a signal buffer that weakens the guitar signal thru the chain. one or two effects does not call for an emg. plus there is no filtration capacitor on the 9volt supply. dirty signal weakened by buffers.

@masterofskating1 Certain brands of amps and pedals work to make that heavy distorted metal tone for guitars. Henerally Marshall amps works really nicely but Im not too familiar with them but I know Jackson, Ibanez, schecter, and Dean guitars are fitted for metal.
