  • wtf how can anyone dilike this is is a master piece of comedy

  • What makes this sketch for me is Eric's reaction to the multiple pancakes.

  • Apologies MorcAmbe and Wise, congrats.

  • Just watched Morecombe and Wise: The Best Moments, on GOLD. They are so clever and funny. R.I.P old fellas you did yourselves and Great Britain proud!!! Xxx =)

  • can you believe that wise actually hated this because his timing was off slightly when beatting the eggs

  • 0:18 when he puts the toast on, the levers on the other side!!! HAHAHA soo funny! And the fridge kitchen disco with sausage boas! :D

  • So funny just loved these guys. They don't make um like this anymore. Thanks for the Memories. x

  • Fantastic, never ceases to make me smile! The christmas shows were the only thing worth watching on Christmas day! @Msdramagirl1 & @goodmorningchap- its supposed to be the radio that "The stripper" is being played on.

  • I <3 Eric's glasses! 8)

  • Legendary. Absolute GENIUS... after watching this I wanted to be a comedienne... then Anime and Manga came along, but it didn't diminish my hopes of making something funny like this.

    R.I.P Morecombe and Wise.

  • Always will be a comedy classic, will never get tired of seeing it

  • morecombe and wise, the two ronnies, the beatles, dad's army are the best, plus others just can't think of all off the top of my head.

  • Its got nothing to do with race or sexuality. It's a brilliant comedy sketch! That's it! Chill and have a laugh for a change!

  • what does he stick the knife into at the end?

  • @goodmorningchap i think its supposed to be a loaf of bread, but they had to plastic for it to work in the show.

  • @MsDramagirl1 or the radio...

  • @OmegaRFox yh,i just put wot my dad thought it was. radio sounds better tho, lol

  • @MsDramagirl1 Yeah, why attack a random slice of bread...

Well it was a great way to end, and shows the timing you couldnt dance around like that with a knife today

  • @goodmorningchap the radio.

  • this is how everything is done naturally, when there's no wrongful-interia, your whole life is as if u spent 20 years training in the shaolin temple and then another 20 years at the peking opera..in time with the songs of ur choice

  • Pure perfection! Kids should be bought up watching this in school! :D x Wish i had been x

  • @BritishAlienCompany I plan on showing this to my drama class in a few weeks.

  • @lillybet1 Oh please tell me the response :D xxx

  • ohh i love this so much :)

im 13 years old , and i will always prefer comedy show's like morcombe and wise , the two ronnies , steptoe and son and on the buses.

even though i wasnt born when they were aired , its pure genius.

    R.I.P. legends.

  • PMSL classic sketch

  • lmao comedy gold

  • everytime i make breakfast i sing this song!! i dnt no why!! XD this is just freaking awesome!!

    0:45 epic!!

    0:52 amazing!!

i fell off the chair by the end!!

  • I can't actually see where on Earth anyone sees reference to race or homosexuality in this? Could some one please point it out to me? All I see is physical comedy over breakfast.

  • @woodsyrevolution The homosexuality is not really there, but Morcombe and Wise did share a bed in scenes from latter TV series. Eric Morecombe orignally objected to these scenes, when the writers presented them to him, until it was pointed out to him that Laurrel and Hardy, Morecombe's great heros, alos had scenes with them in bed together.

  • @woodsyrevolution Re. racism. The music cuts abruptly from 'the Stripper' to 'Old Man River' from Showboat, a song associate with the black singer Paul Robeson. The immediate use of the grapefruit halves as lips is surely to mimic a black man's lips, and is very much in a tradition of comedy, including shows like the Black and White Minstrels, in which white performers would perform exagerated, or stereotypical, notions of black people. Funny, yes, but perhaps not exactly racially sensitive.

  • OMG...Im laughing so much my face is killin me and my cheeks are stinging me!!!

  • This is really funny,hehehehe

  • As simple as the sketch is, every time I see this it's very hard not to keep a straight face. Joy from beginning to end!

  • Joy

  • Pure Genius!!!.

  • Can't stop laughing

  • Cryney: "I hope they ate those sausages."

  • @thelegendofcarsley This is a normal breakfast time for Cryney.

  • @bigsteve532 It was a comedy sketch show. This sketch was purely to make you laugh at the physical comedy of what they did, At the time which this was made homosexuality wasn't eccepted so it isn't about them being gay.

  • @bigsteve532 NO MATE THIS IS COMEDY SOMETHING THATS BEYOND YOU

  • Gr8 fun

  • British comedy at its finest, if comedians today could take note of the comedians of yesteryear our comedy would be as good as it was back then.

  • My all time favourite sketch from the two comedy giants what a masterpiece of mirth

  • Wish I watched this when it was first aired!

  • I love this sketch so much :D

  • They don't make 'em like this any more-Brilliant!

  • perfect way to start your morning

  • Brilliant :)

  • Don't drink water and watch this... When you laugh it goes every where!

  • what is it that he slams the knife into at the end?

  • @cablamus bread :)

  • @cablamus It is supposed to be the radio

  • wacked out but highly hilarious

  • Brilliant - can't believe this is the first time I've seen this!

  • R.I.P morcambe and wise you'll always bring us sunshine.

  • i love these two i wish i was alive to see them in there hay day!

  • @ABBAandAgnethafan

I remember seeing this when I was a girl and it still makes me laugh. Its not the same type of comedy I suppose as the younger generation are used to now, and perhaps a lot wouldnt appreciate it. I think its brilliant, not the best of all sketches, but still great. I loved Eric Morecambe. I loved his catch phrase ''Arsenal!'', it still makes me chuckle. (Showing my age!!!)

  • Wonderful! Thanks for posting.

  • classic!!!

  • i dont get it at all, not slagging it off but can someone explain whats so funny? whats it about?

  • @ucknarm1 choreography, old bean,

  • Funny? Yes. "Possibly the best comedy sketch ever"?? No way.

  • @drumrnva ....and your suggestions are???

How about backing up your statement. I personally think this sketch is up there with the best of them.

  • ROFLMHO!!!!!!!!! - The sausage thng was so hilarious, mind you so was the whole lot!!! Thank you from Japan - :)

  • Classic!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I absolutely love M&W, they top the comedy bill of that generation, and there was a lot... Tommy Cooper, Bob Monkhouse to name a couple of other really class acts.... Back when British comedy was at its best, alas they broke the comedic mold after these, none come even close to the talent of the comedians back then.....well maybe Lee Evans but I find it hard to say any other current comedic talent of today deserves merit

  • don't take my word for it but i think there was a bit of shell in that egg.

    still great comedy

  • @lewisuk9393 - erhmmmm! - I think you may be right there!

  • The way Eric shakes his head from side to side at 0.26 is my fav.

  • u got ur caps lock on and it's spelt genuine

  • Love love love this!! Used to watch them as a child & I never stop laughing at this, no matter how many times I watch them. They appealed to people from all cultural backgrounds.Pure Genius. Pure class. Ernie looks like he is really controlling his laughter!!! But my favourite was Eric. So sad they're not with us anymore. They always look like they are having so much fun! Their families must be so proud that they are still adored by millions.Thankyou for posting. Peace .

  • Pure brilliance, what timing!

  • classic comedy

  • classic! this is one of the best sketches they made. you don't get comedy like this nowadays. cheers for posting!

  • I think that is the best 2 mins 13 seconds of comedy I have ever seen.

  • agreed!

  • @Nintendoboy231 yes defo i lagh every time ^_^

  • @Nintendoboy231 defoo

  • brilliant! wots the song called???

  • The song is called 'The Stripper' by David Rose

  • this is fucking genius!!!!

  • you may

  • Perfect! Absolutely perfect! There are a very examples of a comedy skit that is perfect in every aspects, and this is one of them. It is funny no matter how many times I watch. As an American, I have always appreciated and enjoyed British comedy much more than the sorry junk that is passed off in the US as comedy.

  • As an Australian kid growing up through the 70's, I was surrounded by examples of British humour, Aussie humour, Kiwi, American, Canadian, etc.

I have to admit that most of my giggles came from England. Most of my satire came from home.

America offered nothing other than a claim to be everything.

Recent years, however, show it has things to offer.

Finally they, too, are realising that taking the piss out of yourselves is not unpatriotic.

The world needs a sense of humour.

    God's got one.

  • hilarious! this is what i call classic comedy

  • Wasn't there a tetleys tea advert based on this?

  • its was pg tips

  • i'm sick of people bringing race into everything. This is a classic comedy sketch thats it. It's not making a statement about anyones colour. Brilliant comic geniuses!!

  • Amen to that!

  • @millwalllisa well, it is making a statement about race, but that does not stop it being comic genius aswell!

  • @TricycleTim how is a statement about race

  • I don't know, does the fact that its subtle make it any less racist?

  • You need to remember that this was filmed in a time before the world was obsessed and gone mad with political correctness. It's just harmless yet genius comedy meant to be taken at face value!

  • I think it's actually pretty difficult to pick the bones out of that one. It's taking the mick out of Al Jolson, who wasn't actually black anyhow, but he was seriously emulating black performers around at the time. Was Jolson's act racist? He wasn't demeaning those performers, as such.

Say they'd done something referencing Carmen Miranda, would that have been racist? When does referencing a performers persona become referencing their race in a derogatory way?

  • I don't think you've explained that very well, but I know what you mean.

  • love it lol :D

  • Comedy genuises!!!!

  • Funnny !

  • that has got to be one of the best things i have ever seen it is so funny.

  • 87th time I've seen that ... and I still laugh!

  • all time clasic, they were amazin

  • Classic...That is what i call a

    good breakfast...

  • This is what you call comedy!! Much better that some of the rubbish around now. Its harmless, not offensive, rude or racist. It is a simple idea based around a normal mundane morning activity. Also it is brilliantly timed, even though there are mistakes e.g. the lemon not cutting correctly this just adds to the charm. Morecombe and Wise are a sad loss to comedy

  • I think that's only noticeable if you're looking for racism because i've never seen any racism in Morcambe and Wise

    .x.

  • oh for gawd's sake -lighten up PC pathetic ongoing humour kill will end with what usually happens with draconian narrow mindedness -revolution -and people will throw the PC correctness chains off forever.

  • These guys were the best! Such a loss to the world of comedy. Brings back fond memories of my childhood. They don't make them like they used to .....!!!

  • God, I'd forgotten how brilliant those guys were. :-)

  • Fantastic!!

  • funniest ever sketch.

    best ever comedy duo.

and i agree sparky, they should've been knighted.

  • A lesson in comic timing, they should have been knighted. Superb!!!!

  • atleast i've found this sketch! I've been looking for it for YEARS!

  • Comic brillence!

  • LOL I remember the first time i watch this on TV I could not stop laughing. Its a great video
