  • Thanks, MDonnelly, for this beautiful video and recording. You and I share a sense of what Christ had to say about all forms of oppression.

  • very beautiful songed ,I will sing this in december in sandby in denmark with an other singer Im the alto ,she is soprano

  • Beautiful song.

I'm acutally using "He Shall Feed his Flock" in an audition for college on Friday.

  • petsally: I hope you take first prize. Good luck.

  • Who are teh soloists?

  • shazzer1976: If you do a Google search for the CD, which is shown at the beginning of this video, it's pretty easy to find the information. Thanks for your interest.

  • So " baroque" . Love the sound of baroque piano. Hendel had mental illness before. But God uses Him to show His " greatness". This is what should be called "magnum opus"

  • Belcutied: "Mental illness" is sometimes characterized by extreme sensitivity. It's all relative. In the 18th Century, anyone who objected to public executions was considered frail and mentally unbalanced.

  • Thanks for letting me know ,mdonnelly. :+>

  • i love Handel's Messiah. it's very beautiful. my AS music class went to hear the Messiah in the Waterfront Hall just before christmas, and it was astounding (although my friends and i did get a bit of a shock when there was a counter-tenor instead of an solo alto). thank you for uploading this; it's a beautiful version.

  • In the making of the video, I like very much the idea of mixing images of sacred art and aristocracy with images of African slaves trade. It is true that all these things (unfortunately) belong to the same historical period; in a later period, the idea that all humans belong to God's "flock" plaid an important role in the slaves' fight for human treatments and freedom.

  • lobita61: Thank you. Some of the wealthy Englishmen pictured here like King George II were rather apolitical apologists for empire and slavery, while other aristocrats pictured were abolitionists. Abolition was a transformative spiritual movement for those wealthy Britons, who took part in it. In a way, it freed them from spiritual bondage.

  • I like the "baroque" way it is sung especially by the soprano. It reminds of Purcell. The mezzo has a very good voice.

  • mf83: Thank you also for your compliments. I agree this is the best version of He Shall Feed His Flock that I have heard for some time. The Boston Baroque recorded this digitally in 1992. Have a blessed Christmas and New Year.

  • Thank you very much. The same to you.

  • Peaceful, evocative, optimistic ... Beautiful!

  • Glenmed: Thank you. Happy Christmas.
