  • I think it was a great episode of king of the hill.

  • Absolute classic! Not heard it for yrs though

Takes me back to some good times

  • I had a falling out with a good guyfriend I used to call Angel and I was heartbroken. The other day I was cleaning my room and found a wristband from somwthing we went to together, and right then, this came on my boombox. All I could picture was Buckley's angel walking off into the distance at the end of King of the Hill, the same way my Angel left my life for good. </3

  • all you King of the Hill idiot... GREAT MUSIC BROUGHT ME TO THIS SONG!!! :)

  • good memories, good times. life was so simple then .....

  • Brilliant tune

  • sunchyme brought me here :)

  • David Gilmore produced this song. God love Pink Floyd

  • @erik86ish Amen Brother!!!

  • Buckley's angel

  • Haven't heard this in years and sounding as good as it did back in the good old days

  • proud to be a northener!

  • I love how this song is so NOT like King of the Hill. But it fits in so long with that moment. And it's so good!!!

  • This was awesome on King of the Hill. I never even liked Buckeley, but I thought that episode was amazing.

  • A timeless classic song strange video shot in uk and north america. From a true northerner.

  • @greggusan

Ha, I talk with my friends now about how awesome this music is compared with todays music (in 8th grade now)

  • this song is catchy but does anyone know what they are saying: "Hey amamama (?)"

  • somehow someway this tune takes me back to a splendid time in my life in the smoothest way....u can listen to this anytime..anywhere and it automatically places u in the 80's.

  • just for the record dario g did not bring me here

  • I never lived in a northern town all myife in the south I would like to visit live in the north

  • I got a vinyl record of this song, that's what brought me here!

  • need i say more? <~~~<<<

  • Look up the musician Nick Drake this song is about him

  • why is it cut off at the end? so sad.

  • Was this song used for a cruise ship line commercial?

  • kate st. john is hopelessly adorable... absolutely love her

  • Ft Dix NJ. Jan 1986. Start of 4yr enlistment.

  • 80's music sucks!....jk...love it :D

  • i've been coming back to this vid for years already

  • i had no idea 'david gilmour' from "pink floyd" was instrumental in their development and friends w/the lead singer 'laird-clowes' who helped dave with the lyrics to the division bell... small world

  • Funny how in the 80s you could turn on the radio and almost every single song was PURE GOLD. Music this good is timeless.

  • I just hope to God that NO fucking hip hop duo or rapper gets their slimy talent-less hands on this classic and destroys it,like so many other dicks did with other classic tunes!

  • @edgroove7 ED GROOVE i agree w/u 100%... P.Diddy or whatever the hell your name is now, and all others, keep your hands off, and try to, i dunno... i guess make your own stuff

  • @rsbarrett4991 they have trouble making their own stuff, because all they can do is 'talk to a beat',they have zero music in them!

  • I love this unique and beautiful song and I loved living in England in a Northern town cos the majority of people from those parts are salt of the Earth!!

  • when i hear this song i just want to drive for miles til im out of gas.....then when im out of gas i put on my headphones and just start walking to it....

  • Buckley came to me once and gave me the greatest wisdom i could ask for. He said to me, hey. My life has never been the same since.

  • Hahaha yeah I was watching king of the hill 2. I couldn't remember the name of the song. Good dong though.

  • @themichellephoto you saw that episode earlier tonight too?

  • Haven't heard this in years!! King of the hill brought me here!

  • @TheMichellephoto

    R.I.P Buckly

  • Not a good tune, but a classic masterpiece ! One of the best pop songs ever written.Pure nostalgia.

  • HOLY SHIT I LOVE THIS SONG! i was watching king of the hill about an hour ago and then this song started playing. i started to get mad chills! ive been looking for songs like this to listen to when i drive at night and feel lonely. i miss u.... Sayaka ( T ^T)

  • @godduero - we are HUGE king of the hill fans. i lol when i read your post...

  • @godduero ME TOO!!! King of the Hill reminded me of it... I found it, I've played it every day since! :)

  • @godduero I totally feel u. This song always gives me chills.....reminds me of lonely winters...tear :-(

  • @JoviMoon Ya me too,but it also reminds me of a life less complicated when I was a child.

  • @godduero - a very human thing for you to say. I hope you find what, and who, will bring you completeness and happiness.

  • @godduero Exactly the same, a taxi driver played it really loud for me months ago and I was too drunk to remember the name, then stuck King of the Hill on and it blew my mind....when Buckleys angel does the wee front flip at the chorus....amazing

  • 29 people don't live in a northern town

  • Me too I love koth

  • lol me too just watched King of the Hill and im like ok i love this song but don't remember the name!!

  • Everyone watch king of da hill rite now to see this song used in the most beautiful way ever..!

  • @bikedudeguy haha that's where I got it. I imagine this video will have a spike in views tonight lol

  • Really great song!

  • songs me of long distance trips when I was little going snowmobiling in upstate NY or Canada. Good song!

  • Sunchyme!!!

  • this song always reminded me of chernobyl...for some reason I thought the world was gonna have a nuclear meltdown.

  • Nice song with fond childhood memories brought flooding back

  • :)

  • @djjim01 English horn. Similar to an oboe but can go a fifth lower. Also featured in Dvorak's "New World Symphony (#9)" in the Largo movement, frequently called "Going Home"

  • 29 People are from a southern town...

  • @ s0undch4s3r why did you cut off the end?

  • I love someone :)

  • Great song !! One of those, liked it the first time I heard it tunes. Anybody know what instrument the attractive blonde is playing ?? Oboe, or something similiar ??

  • This is one of those perfect songs if you having a bad or a hurry-up day. Put this on and chill out for 4 minutes Honestly !!!! : )

  • 28 people suck

  • I loved this song. I am from a Northern California town and I loved the neo-60s style of this band.

  • so much better than sugar towns version

  • 80's filler song on the radio that we took for granted. 1 day it's gone. 10 years and you think holy shit I forgot that one.

  • I remember first hearing this song on my Walkman on station Q102 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Was walking home from high school, in a cold rain, in late October. I will never forget how the song moved me, watching the orange, yellow, and red leaves fall as I listened to it for the first time. Sometimes memories provide a snapshot in time.

  • @80swerethebest

It's a Northern thing isn't it. You are or you are not - Northern. This song always reminds me of my childhood in County Durham, better times.

  • I love this song. I wish i could play it everyday but sadly it reminds me of a childhood friend who passed away a few months ago.

  • im on my sons account, we live close to SALFORD a little town called Swinton, my Son is 12, and understands where his roots are, we are pure northerners and this Song echoes our life together, he will nevrer lose who he is as long as there are tunes like this to remind him of who i am and who he is................

  • 28 dont understand

  • I guess 28 people must have grown up down south ..... they don't undestand life in a northern town.

  • Brilliant

  • Taking patronising to a totally new fucking level.....

  • life in a newky broon toon...

  • Its to bad they only had this one hit. awesome song!

  • absolute brilliance! Great video, wonderful song.

  • I came here from King of The Hill.

  • i feel sorry for 28 people

  • I came here from "Dario G - Sunchyme" but i still have respect for the original!

  • @DragonTrixter absolutely

  • Beautiful melancholy nostalgia for the good old days. This one always nails me in the heart. Appropriately filmed in bleeding Super 8. I was lucky or (unlucky) enough to be born at the edge of such magical times. Hauntingly reminds me of early childhood. Absolute magic.

  • Certainly brings back many memories of the 80's. Was a big fan of Dream Academy at the time. Song is still good but so glad video production has moved on!

  • never understood it here in the U.S. but I never turned the radio station when I heard it as a teenager! And tried to sing along with it.

  • 27 people DISLIKE this? HOW DUM ARE YOU? LOL

  • @ChrisOmo don't mind them 1.5%, means there is almost 2 in every village on average

  • @ChrisOmo

I like the song and the audio is good, but the video quality blows. Not really enough for a like or dislike from me.

  • God I remember hearing this all over the place in the mid 80's great song

  • Oi Germanic? Mofo step a day in the life of a soldier. Neil you have no idea. I have never disliked someone before. Welcome to my first time. Dolt.

  • thank you for this song just..life god everyone idk

  • This Is Such A Awesome Song.

  • The North of England. Manchester, Liverpool, Blackburn, Bradford, Leeds, Newcastle, Sunderland, Durham, Hull, Sheffield, Rotherham. The character to be found in each of these cities just can't be understood by the Southerner(anyone south of say, Northhampton). Even now, over a thousand years later the divide between Anglo-Saxon and Norse peoples still shows in the people of England.

  • @neil73 Lets be grateful for that you little village northern no mark. Now trundle off back down your coal mine.

  • @milllord1 lmao! Oh, the irony!

  • @neil73 Don't understand where you're coming from mate. I come from south London, i work as a contractor on the railways with mainly northern fellas. They are the most genuine people i have met, i have opened my eyes about the north/ south divide, maybe you should , as well.

  • @1971mofo I agree with you. I live in the North of England and have worked in London and visited just about every part of this country. All I was saying in my last comment is that there still seems to be some disparity between Northerners and Southerners in terms of outlook on life. Northerners tend to be genuine, down-to-earth, a little inhibited and generous. Southerners tend to be honest to the point of tactlessness, open minded and ruthless in business. Good and bad in everyone and all that!

  • @neil73 Cont...Sure enough, there are shitty places in both the North and South, but I think that there is still as it were a different 'race' of people. Southerners are Germanic, Northerners Scandinavian - at least it shows in place names: In Lancashire there is a village called Oswaldtwisle; in Yorkshire, placenames like Arkengarthdale, but in the South, there is a lot of 'Ham's'! lol!

  • @1971mofo couldnt agree more..my friend......greets from the "barronlands"...of the north !

  • I would make believe i was the guy playing the timpanis. i miss the 80s, simpler times.

  • love the ahemamamamamamamama

  • I have been in love with this song since the 1980's ! It has a great dreamy acoustic sound, similar to Gary Wright's music. "Life In A Northern Town" reaches out and grabs your attention as very few songs can. The vocals are excellent and blend with the beautiful music. But Dream Academy's music got little radio play here in New York City. THIS song would have been a perfect opening for the vampire film "30 Days Of Night". The calm before the storm.

  • Barack Obamama...

  • This brings back memories of being a child in the mid 80's. I remember watching this on 'Video Hits', then going outside to play, with the melody still in my head. A simple memory but a fond one. There were no worries about things like violence, the economy, jobs, etc, eventhough alot was happening during these times. My world in my youth was innocent and I would love to be there again.

  • 23 people live down south

  • I just want to listen to this song over and over as I travel on a train through the country side in Europe.

  • @mrhoffame Do it dude!!! Eurorail.com, get a pass for a region and you won't forget it I can promise you that!! It'll cost about £300 (Sterling), but it's unlimited travel!! Sleep on the train, rather than a hotel as well. G.

  • great song...

  • wow , that gave me chills

  • this song was produced by one of pink floyd members....great tune ...reminds me of the 'Poconos" PA.

  • @ YouDummy, and Tman28666- I agree, I grew up in a Northern community and nothing compares...this song is timeless and magical.

  • This is sheer brilliance !

  • Something about northern villages that get in your blood lol....

  • Great song, thumbs down for the abrupt ending to the video before the conclusion.

  • Spine chilling but beautiful xx

  • Guess what?

  • Q linda canción...hay 22 muermos q no saben de música

  • Produced by David Gilmour. Written about Nick Drake.

  • This song is remarkable! I love it to death!

  • I love this song, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I was in high school when this came out. I miss those days and often think about them on a cold lonely Winter day. Happy holidays everyone!

  • Incredible! How often i've heard that chanting and then come across it's origin by complete chance! Great tune

  • I absolutely love this song.

  • Had the album for years, never seen the video, thanks for posting!

  • Legendary song!

If it wasn't for Dream Academy there would be no Dario G.

Listen to this and Sunchyme then you'll know what I'm talking about.

  • @boogs2007 Agreed, same tune but made more boppy.

  • lost Backburn can be seen

  • Seriously, fuck Sugarland

  • shivers here too, \Id just moved up to Co Durham in 1983..from Sutton Surrey.

That wa afreezing winter..a great decade for pop music too

  • good video and excellent band from the 80's pretty much describes

    ST. STEPHEN, NEW BRUNSWICK (CANADA)

  • Nothings changed, everything has gone back to the 80's bar the music and technology, were as stuck here as the people of the early 80's way back then, unemployment, sorrow and poverty.

  • Lost Souls and Lost Innocence ! Oh how mankind needs Salvation more now than ever.Prophetic song for today.Oh how we have lost empathy and compassion,70's,80's songs spoke so much truth. But do we heed ? A classic that will always be relevant !

  • @joanmurgita66 Keep fighting luv. My dad from cancer in 2008. It's good to keep them in our hearts and thoughts. Bless u..

  • @pereyda44 My Dad died of Asbestos Mesothelioma I watched for 12 years him waste away and struggle to live.To be a husband to Mum and a Father to 9 children. My heart goes out to you and fellow families who are going through this struggle.Remeber there's a God who understands and is with you through these hard times. Bless You and your Family.

  • @pereyda44 thankyou so much for your kind thoughts

  • Yet another video with the salford lads club in the background

  • this song came out around the time my mom died of cancer ,it reminds me of her in a good way. now im fighting cancer, who knows i may see her soon . rthe song is great and i do like sugarland song is good too. bye bye

  • @joanmurgita66I just want to wish all the best and stay strong with your fight, all the best to you! Peace!

  • King of the hill. The most subtlety funny cartoon of all time. Maybe but not as in your face as Family Guy, or memorable as The Simpsons... but damn, King of the Hill was a good show too.

  • Ha, Salford Lads Club.

  • Story songs Do you ever think they will happen again…every 30 or so years When the men come back from war …

  • 20 people suck

  • @Rarrin9378

    now its 21 people, haters!!

  • @KRstar78 Screw that! This song is awesome!

  • @Rarrin9378 I love the song, but hate how this vid ended it abruptly. :(

  • @ylaenna same here

  • @Rarrin9378 27 people think that purple dinosaur song is original!

  • @Rarrin9378 you say that as if it's a bad thing

  • I remember when this song came out. How pleasant of a song it is. So pretty. It reminds me of a park that was a couple streets away from my house and every fall they held a carnival there and there was a storyteller there who told us stories of historical events. Every year a different story and this song just reminds me of it and how we all looked forward to that carnival every year. I love the 80's sooo much. There is just nothing like it today. God how I miss the 80's! :-(

  • How I love this song. I also grew up with it, too

  • Can't listen to it without thinking of that episode of King Of The Hill

  • @TheMasterShake same here. that and that canon camera commercial they played with andre agassi the tennis player back in the 90's

  • If you asked 1,000 people on the street who made it popular, 999 wouldn't know, but everyone hums along to it. Music's best kept secret!!

  • @getdusty1 I am on of those 999 I just love the song but don't know who sang it. Please can you tell me? Many thanks.

  • @hollyfive It's in the title Holly. I was also one of the 999. "The Dream Academy". Why would they ever call themselves that??

  • @getdusty1 Doh! But thanks anyway.

  • great 80's tune just kool!!!!

  • brilliant ...nothing more to be said

  • Marianas trench sent me here!!! :D

  • I heard this song was a tribute to Nick Drake....Is that a correct assumption?....Of course Nick Drake was a genious in his own...

  • @folz208 Yes - and that, weirdly, is the one thing I don't like about the song. Nick Drake was from Warwickshire, I think, which is the south to me!

Incredibly evocative song, though. It makes me feel all wistful for a northern childhood - except not my own. My "life in a northern town" was industrial ruin and mass unemployment. And rain. But somehow this song makes me yearn for a return to a golden era of small-town community life, which I never even experienced. Odd, that.

  • @GedKelly1999 Warks is more Midlands really

  • @berlinmitte10117 Not if you're a Manc. The south starts at Alderley Edge, as far as I'm concerned. But that's a a side issue - let's focus on a remarkable song.
