Keep in mind this was small town 1900's..."sounds" in the night (if you get my meaning) were pretty natural. Its safe to assume that the children were probably the last to go and they (if they were awake at all) might have assumed that any noises from mom and dad's bedroom were just the norm - maybe crazier than usual that night but nothing to sneak out of the house and run for help kind of sounds.
@HitmanSx3 Don't be so fucking disrespectful, 6 children all under the age of 12 were brutally murdered and you think it's funny to make jokes, get off of youtube, cunt
That there were ax murders before the Villisca screams serial killer to me, what are the odds of 2 ax murders working within close proximity of each other?
Copy cat is possible but serial is more likely imo.
In my opinion the murder could have been solved, if it weren't for the hundreds of people that stormed inside the house to see what had happened when that murdered occurred in 1912.
It's good to know there are so many people interested in this case. I would love ot chat about this with anyone. I know who killed the family. It was none other than Rev. Kelly, and Andy Sawyer, and that guy in the picture with the little girls. I spent almost five weeks doing some in-depth and logical searching. I found the answer. If you disagree, i'd be glad to talk to you and present the facts. Please contact me or leave me a message. My number is 615-360-6941.
I am afraid I have to respectfully disagree. Andy Sawyer was not in Villisca yet when the Murders took place. Remember, the murderer was in the house before 10:00pm. Sawyer did not arive there from train until midnight. I beleive Henry Lee Moore was hired by Senator Frank Jones to do the killings, and Reverend kelly was there to be a lookout, also to rape Lena Stillinger. Also, do you know that man's name in the picture? He does look intimidating.
A lot of people think this is fake but it is actually very real. I live in Iowa and believe me this isn't a made up story. & I think there could have only been one person, if you do it fast enough, cut off one head while everyone is sleeping, and move to the next nobody has any time to scream for help. It was clearly planned out very well.
@Silvawolf100 He was a traveling Preacher who was "Nuts". After the bodies were discovered, Kelly left town, but bragged that he was the one that did the murders. When he got arrested and interrogated, his story didn't add up to what the detectives had found. I don't know why he would try to take the blame, but he was a nut! They meaning the Police, let him go.
any murder in any dacade is wrong killing children is wrong doesint matter if its 1912or2011 i m into the supernaturaL BUT WHO CAN REALLY LIKE THE TERRABLE NEWS
Apparently, it is believed to have been the work of a man who worked at a mill or slaughterhouse, who was hired by Mr. Moore's business rival. I can't remember their names. Dang it. Anyway, the axe murderer was arrested for similar murders he'd committed in another state after these ones.
cmsasuke17. if u r a sleep in same bed with some 1 else. and i came in to ur room quietly and cut there head off with an axe, how would u know that i am there, evn if u wake when i'm there u r still half asleep, and think that its a dream. and b 4 u know it, ive axed ur head off.
i believe there is more that one killer. how can one man go in one room and sliced off a head and the other person in that same room woke up and screamed loud enough for everyone to hear? i just feel like atleast one person is capable of escaping but not if you have multiple axe muerderers maybe one in the adult room and the other in the children room. evidence that look strong are most likely andy sawyer, the rev, and maybe mansfield. just in my opinion
@cmsasuke17 I can definitely see where you're coming from. It always bewildered me how that other people in the house couldn't hear screams from others. With it being an older house, it had thinner walls and was probably much smaller.
@Meeperish If you're asleep and someone hits you in the head with an axe, you probably won't make a sound. Even if someone sleeping in the room at the time, heard something happening, by then it would have been too late. It only takes a matter of seconds to swing an axe two good times. It's possible and even plausible that nothing or very little would have been heard that night.
@cmsasuke17 i wholeheartedly believe there were 3 killers. i've done tons of research and it keeps coming back as the answer of legions, which means many. after my extensive research i believe the three killers were William Mansfield (after being hired by Frank Jones after Josiah took his business), Reverend George Kelly, and Andy Sawyer. Two of them confessed, but pulled back their confession before trial so the jury couldn't know and were released.....
@bribiechler1 Didn't J.B. Moore have some kind of affair with his boss's daughter-in-law at one time? And that was also another reason why people believed that his boss, Frank Jones, may have hired Mansfield and a man by the last name Wipple, to kill Mr. Moore. I think things got way out of control and the men ended up killing the whole family. It was just to be JB Moore who was to be killed.
@gwentattoo yes. these are great points! at least someone else knows the smaller details of the event. i think that the three came in for Josiah and his wife, but they were having "fun" (which EVP's proved)...and they continued to kill. just like with one of the neighbor girls being placed in a sexual position and a killer masterbated into bacon over her. they just went crazy and had a blast that night. that's why the evil came back. and they want to be left alone.
@bribiechler1 One axe was picked up in the backyard and one axe was left. If there were other murderers, they either brought their own weapons or shared. If they all hid together in the attic, apparently they didn't all collectively smoke very much. I would imagine that if 3 men were smoking together, there would be cigarette butts in different locations in the attic. Last, whoever was at church until late at night, was probably not involved in the murder.
@cmsasuke17 I am new to this story, if they all just came from a church event, how could the Rev been at the house waiting. Also, from this video, it sounds like the mary peckim woman was a busy body or worrier because she sensed something was wrong and went to the house...just sounds odd to me that someone living that close was that observant, they prob had windows open and she aparenty never heard screams.Unless the killer was swift in his slaughter.
@KesslersCross You would think that the Moore's neighbor would have heard something? But who knows? In some of the EVP's that have been caught in the house, there are screams of who they believe to be Mr. Moore and also that of Leena Stilliinger. There is one of a girl screaming and a man's muffled voice which is sad because it sounds if she is trying to push him off or away from her. She tells him to "stop " and also, "It hurts" or something like that. SAD!
@KesslersCross They were neighbors for years and she was probably used to a lot of activity in the morning coming from a household of anywhere between 6 or 8 people. Also I don't think the curtains were usually closed. At first I thought it was weird that she would notice something wrong too, but after thinking about it, it made more sense.
@cmsasuke17 I remember watching a Ghost hunter crew, they investigated the Villisca Axe murder house. They got an EVP that said they was 2 killers, also they got an EVP that someone named Anderson murdered the whole family.
This may be slightly off-topic, but I read that "Villisca" actually means "pleasant view," not "place of evil spirits"...did they just make that up for the show? O_o;
so, the father was hit with the blade but the others were hit with the blunt edge. so was it a hate crime against mr. moore, but then why kill all of the children too?
@Teobi1 The killer was probably insane, no reason to the madness. Possibly a sadist. Maybe he killed the children to ensure no witnesses would emerge. Or maybe he killed them because after he killed their parents he knew they would have miserable lives as orphans.
@MRMAGIC305X I guess only someone insane could commit such an act of brutality. Weren't there gouge marks in the ceiling that indicated the killer had swung the ax in circles in some kind of killing frenzy? An EVP suggests the culprit's name was 'Andy' pointing to a suspect called Andy Sawyer. I've theorised on whether both Andy Sawyer and the Rev Kelly were involved. If Sawyer were already slightly unhinged, he could have easily been swayed to do the devil's work by a more manipulative madman..
@MRMAGIC305X The killer killed everybody because the killer was most likely a sadist who enjoyed committing the crimes. I don't think the killer cared whether the kids would be orphaned. The details of the crimes suggest that this man may have been a serial killer before the term and knowledge of such was known.
@Teobi1 The Father, Joe Moore, was actually hit with the blunt side. The Mother, Sara Moore, was actually hit a couple times with the blade. But Joe was hit the most out of everyone in the house.
@09irishwarrior It's pretty sickening, knowing one person could cause that much death and destruction. Did he cover up the mirrors so he couldn't see his guilty face? Was it Rev. Kelly thinking he had the face of the Devil? And the bacon left in the downstairs bedroom. Maybe the killer was going to steal it for his own consumption but then realised sniffer dogs would track it so he left it behind. That bacon detail is just so strange. Thanks for the reply. It's a sad, sad story for sure.
@Teobi1 No problem, I can answer any question you have. They think he covered up the mirrors for some psychological reason or what you said, to see his face. Rev. Kelly told everyone that he woke up in the night and a voice told him to "Slay utterly", when he came to a certain house (the Moore home) Then the voice said to "set the family free." Who knows if he really heard that but he wasn't convicted because his story didn't add up and he changed it a couple times.
@Teobi1 They think he used the bacon grease as a lubricant to masterbate to one of the children downstairs because her undergarments were off and she was positioned in a sexual way. No sign of rape though. Who really knows what happened that night though, very sad.
"The home has become a popular haunted tourist attraction." Yeah complete with over-inflated prices, and ghosts that have most likely fizzled out due to publicity... This paranormal crap has gotten out of control these last few years. If a ghost is going to make itself known, it's going to do it to who it's wants to, not to the 5000 people coming to visit cause they now know about it... It's all hyped - just like the weather people's predictions before a storm...
The Amityville Horror was not based off the Villisca murders. Their two totally different cases, two completely different geographical locations. The movie was based on the murders committed by Ronald DeFeo in Long Island, New York. Nothing at all to do with the axe murders of Villisca, Iowa.
you said Ina wrong! sorry i am very paranoid that these people say thing wrong (: and the sprits there are NOT evil. The only spirit that is evil in this house to me is the killers spriit that returned to villisca and i have been to villisca before and only got scared crapless by the killers ghost.
@TheGia20 i think it might be some kind of buissness reason or maybe paranorma reason i watched a film based on this storie and it indicates that there was a voice in the attic tkept elling the murdurer to kill them the voice kept tricking him that his family were just a bunch of devils . :)
If you want 2 know the name of the film it's called = The Amtyville Horror
@TheGia20 Rumor has it that in Amityville, Ronny DeFeo was posessed by a demon. The Villisca murder's is very similar which (if the rumor is true), leads me to believe that the murderer (the Reverend?) might have been controlled by a demon as well.
@garytelecastor He/She locked the door as he (or she) exited. Nothing too paranormal. They (he and/or she) were probably waiting in the house....most likely an unhappy ex-employee (a real unhappy ex!)
And whoever you Tuber commented on the "real" Indian name....ya :(
It had something to do with someonein the town.I believe he was a senator. His daughter-in law was having an affair with Mr.Moore.Strange; the lights of the town just happened to all be out that night? Killer knew the layout of the house.Knew when they went out that night? Was able to get in unoticed,in a small town? The violent way in which they were killed. That was rage, not a random killing. Then the way the crime scene was mishandled. Maybe a cover-up? I don't know.
@DeeandraRose A small town with a population no bigger than an average high school, I can't imagine the people there handling the crime scene in a careful manner at all. Everyone knew everyone and it was probably a lot more casual. Back then forensics was probably not very well known by the general public.
@KaYsEa24 People sound asleep in bed... thump... thump.... Next room... people sound asleep in bed, repeat the same steps. It's possible that someone was awake or heard something but apparently not enough to make a difference. With the whole house asleep, it's not impossible to do quite a bit without being heard.
Meep I will never visit that place we already have enough haunted shit in South Carolina as it is. Fuck the killer though and I don't care if that killer is dead fuck him.

Andy Sawyer and Kelly killed them. Why else would they catch an EVP saying the names?

@TheGia20 Rumor has it that in Amityville, Ronny DeFeo was posessed by a demon. The Villisca murder's is very similar which (if the rumor is true), leads me to believe that the murderer (the Reverend?) might have been controlled by a demon as well.

Nobody seems to answer how the murderer got out of the house. All the doors were locked from the inside. The windows were in the same state.

@MyNevermindme

@DeeandraRose The mirror was covered. Guilt?
One of the girls had a coat placed on her face. This is very common in murders where the murderer knows the victims.

@DeeandraRose A small town with a population no bigger than an average high school, I can't imagine the people there handling the crime scene in a careful manner at all. Everyone knew everyone and it was probably a lot more casual. Back then forensics was probably not very well known by the general public.

bt how is it that wen everyone was gettin slayed none of the others heard anything going on a lil weird dont u think????
KaYsEa24 1 year ago
@KaYsEa24 People sound asleep in bed... thump... thump.... Next room... people sound asleep in bed, repeat the same steps. It's possible that someone was awake or heard something but apparently not enough to make a difference. With the whole house asleep, it's not impossible to do quite a bit without being heard.
