  • i'm a left handed and i'm a proud mow fow

  • left handed..not many of us out there. nice videos

  • oh wow i'm left handed too

  • have you got any tips on drawing from imagination, i draw alot and am only good at copying or drawing things i've seen before, but i really want to be able to put what ive got in my head onto paper?

  • @mrstuartevenden Well then you can also go a step further and look at a picture (something you got in mind) and then take those outlines. For example: When I draw the Joker I look at a picture of him posing or something and then draw him doing something else but i copy the facial features and all of that to simplify. And when you've practiced that a bit you can try to draw somethingsimple from your own imagination :) (hope I didn't confuse you xS)

  • @mrstuartevenden Watch movies, then any sort of influence you have draw them on paper. It's not too hard to draw from the imagination, but that's just me.

  • @mrstuartevenden yea i feel like that lol

  • @mrstuartevenden i know what ur saying, what helped for me is first copying other work, when ur good at that try looking at something for a while (something simple to draw) and then draw it yourself without looking at it, ur imagination will fill up some gaps and from then on you can start drawing stuff in your head :)

  • im left 2

  • man this is a joke right na nice though

  • FUCK this !!!! i tryed like 5 hours nonstop and i steal can't !

  • what is the name of this pen here

  • Please stop.

  • cooool

  • I already know how to draw a superhero...

  • Hooooo....lot of mistakes...

  • Why is everyone hating on this guy? Seriously, after looking at the comments I thought that this was going to be terrible. I guess some people are just jealous?

  • You draw like a fucking six year old...What the hell business do you have trying to teach anyone anything.

  • @malcommerriweather HAAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAH!!!! MAybe...the hope to have..."tanx" from people...:D

  • your the one who inspired me

  • wow, this guy is garbage

  • I don't like to criticize other artists, but... wow. Let's start with the basics: Never draw with a pen first. Learn to use a pencil, and then move on to a pen. Pens are for professional-level artists, not amatuers. I pencil and ink my own work and that's hard enough... take away the pencil and I'd be terrified. I am not a hater (what an asinine word... kids), but I'm curious where the word "expert" in the title of the poster came from. Proportions and perspective help out alot as well.

  • @ttobin77

Well if you watch and listen to the whole video before you make yourself look like a total retard he did mention that the reason why he did it with a pen is because its much dark and we can see it as an audience and he did basically say what you said after that...

  • @ChronozG 2B, 4B and 6B are pencil weights that would all show up on film, since there's a high-quality camera in use on this series of minis. And since you're obviously very young, and enjoy defending bad practices of a cartoonist (the poster) instead of a comic book artist (of whom there are many on this site), saying that I'm making myself look like a total retard is a lot like assuming that you know what you're talking about. You're a Loeb fan... defend quality, not this crap.

  • @ttobin77

Yea u r a retard.... You just wasted, what? 10 mins of ur life writing nothing? And I'm young? What is that sometime of insult? I dont see what your point is by saying that "I'm young"... Im 25, but thanks... What's wrong about being a Loeb fan? I mean, just listen to the video, thats my point... see? I have a point... you dont... but I do... See? Good... =)

  • @ttobin77

Oh and look browntown22 says the exact same thing!!! WOW!! And I'm wrong!? Interesting!

  • @ttobin77 he clearly says in the video to not use a pen when drawing, he was simply using one because it would be easier to see on camera. Also he was clearly not trying to draw a picture that would get published or be put in a comic book. he was simply drawing to let new aspiring artists know the mechanics to drawing a superhero. If you didnt understand that or see that im not sure ur as great an artist you claim yourself to be.

  • @browntown72 I thought that Canadians were supposed to be smarter than this... What he said is an excuse and bad pratice, and since artists lead by example, that doesn't fly. This guy is a cartoonist, and not a comic book artist, and since he doesn't work in that field, he isn't in a position to be giving tips on a medium he has no real training in. I never said I was the greatest artist in the world, and this guy didn't show a stick-figure, proportion or basic anatomy, so where's the mechanics?

  • @ttobin77 by mechanics i mean to say that he identifies that the most important thing is to learn the postures and poses and to learn the anatomy of the human body. Example is overruled by the fact that he says clearly in the video NOT to use a pen. This is not monkey see monkey do, a semi intelligent person should be able to listen. He doesnt claim to be drawing to the best of his abilities, he is just showing, via sketch, what is necessary to draw a superhero.

  • @browntown72 The most important things to know for drawing any comic book character (superheroes included) are not being shown on this clip, and those are: Life Drawing (natural-looking physical movement), Proportion, Perspective, Anatomy and Dynamic Posing. You don't have to draw a perfect character to give solid examples of this kind of work. Comics art is about skill groups, if you don't know one very well, it effects all the subsequent skills that follow. I'll post a link here with examples.

  • @ttobin77

I just read ur "answer" again, because it just crossed my mind how ridicule you are and what the hell does a sketch has to do with Jeph Loeb? I dont get it... if you can explain that for me, please, because seems like you are "so smart"...

  • i can draw better than that

    im 13 >_>

  • whats up with the other guy to the left when ur drawing the legs?

  • the people who are hating are most likely jeleous asses who cant draw

  • one arm is longer than the other

  • @iDraw3G nope, im pretty sure they seek out the worst instructors as a joke.

  • wow this helps ^^

  • get the letters out of the way

  • pretty cool drawing....

  • An instructional video about illustration without a single reference to perspective, proportions or human anatomy? Without a basic understanding of perspective/proportions, a novice will NEVER be able to render anything, let alone action heroes. The proportions on this character are skewed which is why it looks flat. Trying to draw cartoons/illustrations without mastering perspective is about as effective as trying to play jazz piano without knowing how to play scales and chords.

  • you forgot the cape because you said that he was flying you forgot it

  • i think its very good. dont listen to these haters.

  • hate to say it. bad drawing.

  • @iDraw3G I didn't say they were the best.

  • Comment removed

  • @shadowstar2012 they're fucking awful, dude

  • @iDraw3G. Look for the ones that have "Jay French". Those are usually higher quality than the majority.

  • He just throws out some 'FANCY' words and draws a rubbish picture!

  • i use left hand and right hand when drawing im like the same with both hands!

  • its all about proportions...... what I find that helps me is knowing exactly what I want and if everything is in proportion...after that you will develop your own style...like some like bulky biceps and thighs while some might like lean and slender figures. I have a friend that helped me with drawing but it didnt work, I came to the realization that he was trying to get me to draw like him unknowingly.

  • this makes me not want to draw super heros

  • Fantastic! Great tutorial and thanks for the insights!!!

  • you forgot the cape

  • awsome

  • left handers hold pencils weird thats the diff D: But dosent the cam have a reverse effect :P

  • @lf2davis Not all who are left handed holds the pen as weird as this guy does though.

  • I dont feel comfortable watching this cause its left handed, no offence.

  • how does left handed effect the final peice?. left/right whats the diffrence.

  • @jester18uk

I PERSONALLY don't find it comfortable because I'm used to seeing right handed (usually myself) considering I would have to look at my page and see my hand drawing, in right hand, its why I don't feel that comfortable. I'm ot used to the left hand and stuff.

  • @NoVidsWhatNow Put a mirror near the monitor and watch the video through the reflection of the mirror :P hehe

  • @NoVidsWhatNow your stupid

  • wow its just a left hand big deal

  • @NoVidsWhatNow I didn't notice until after I read your comment. Then when I did notice it threw me off.

  • @NoVidsWhatNow i know it just feels kinda awkward

  • @NoVidsWhatNow umm this guy is a 'he' not 'its'

  • hi um im creating a comic book like kick ass were the hero doesnt have any powers and is, how the comic guys call it: the average joe. i hope its a best selling!

  • @spudnick160 nice

  • @NoVidsWhatNow dude u like read my mind

  • @NoVidsWhatNow i'm left handed

  • @NoVidsWhatNow i'm offended dude no i'm joking but stay away from the leftys

  • it's very flat...

  • awesome!!!

  • its kinda awesome yeah

  • whoa that was impressive thanx alot dude

  • hey, would u like to learn to draw the human body? if u can please check out my videos and subscribe or comment... I am trying to teach how to draw muscles, ect, for doing superheroes. Thanks!!

  • wow... absolutely no waist or pelvis structure at all. most superheroes are anatomically proportioned too... this is kind of a mess.

  • Wow...its not everyday when someone actually manages to teach you 5 bad habits in under six minutes...should probably learn to draw before you teach!!!!

  • ugly

  • Yeah, use a micron. Dip pens suck

  • W00t for leftys!

  • wat

  • steal!

  • awesome

  • i find it easy to draw a superhero except for the face

  • yeah me too

  • me too the face i kept messing up on took me like 30mins to get it right.

  • shoes are easy look up in google human preportions there are feet that u can draw very easy and still very cool .... but the hands are hard ::p

  • this helps.... ALOT

  • i think the legs are too tall

but all in all it was nice;)

  • i think that's very easy if you don't draw more clothes or jeans...

  • This is NOT 'The Marvel Way'!

  • the marvel way is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY harder

  • the marvel way has the fundamentals of art to back it up, this is just flat and teaches horrible habits

  • thats freaking kool but if u jus added color it will be good...

  • nice job this should realy help the novice drawers out because it is fun and simple

  • you're the best one at expertvillage

  • my stupid school wanted me to draw a superhero and this video had helped me alot

  • not good

  • Wow, this approach and art need a lot of work. I was looking for artists and I came across this. Work on your anatomy and perspective. You may want to work on proper rendering techniques as well.

  • Great work !!

  • :) lol i try to get into detail first and its screwing me up. i am fixin it though :) thx

  • wow i just tried it drawing and your steps helped me improve a lot thnx
