Saw them open for Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush and Triumph in Wichita Falls, TX. 1981. Got Narita, Rock City and Fire Down Under afterwards then Restless Breed & Born In America. Would like to see the original RIOT again. American Rock!
i recorded this off the radio on a cassette 30 years ago , it took me about 10 years to come up with a name of the song & band so i could a better copy--great song
Was happy to have met these guys thru San Antonio Legendary D.J. "The Godfather," Joe Anthony Yunussi. Saw them with the original lineup and later with Rhett Forester.
@rikkisogazgf Like many bands, they had two really good albums, Narita and the classic Fire Down Under. They kept releasing albums throughout the years to declining sales. Most of the later albums weren't so hot, Thundersteel from the latter eighties being the exception.
GUY SPERANZA!!! Der wohl beste Sänger den RIOT hatte! RIOT sind eine MEGA-Hammerband! Schade das sie es nie zu einem richtigen internationalen durchbruch geschafft haben......
I bought the Fire Down Under album when it came out. Someone stole it at a party. I had to scour the internet to replace it on CD a few years ago. Truly a classic record. A must buy...
@voyager71390 Every time I try to turn someone on to Riot they ask that very thing....who? Quiet Riot. I grew up in Cleveland in the 70s and 80s.... no posers please!!!
I'm 18 now and I learned of Riot after watching a video for Restless Breed on VH1 classic. They also played Bloodstreets a lot. Recently, I bought Fire Down Under from iTunes. One of the finest hard rock albums I've ever heard. This song might be my favorite off the album...I like all the songs! Oh, and R.I.P. Guy! Great singer!
School Of Rock, Metal 101, indeed! lol I was 16 years old in high school when Fire Down Under was released in 1981. Lemme tell you guys.....this particular album and Fastway's debut record with the song "Say What You Will" are two of the most over-looked, kick-ass hard rock/heavy metal records of the early 80's. The guitar riffs, the hooks, the song writing, all stellar and way above average. Great stuff, man. Guns 'N Roses pulled that off with Appetite For Destruction, as well in 1987.
Hell yes! I agree totally! As a matter of fact my band is working on both of those covers right now! I think it's time to reintroduce Riot to the masses.
I never understand why I was the only kid in HS that knew anything about this band. Of course I lived in Kentucky and in the 80's they liked two types off music here: Country and Western.
When i drive my Camaro and listen to this song loud, i feel like i wanna break the speedometer and have a few police cruisers chasing me. This song is awesome. RIOT RULES!!!!!
yeah both Guy and Rett are gone...saw Riot with Rhett at the santa monica civic and a few times after that with different singers....RIOT....shit THESE DUDES Rule!!!! R.I.P. brothers
wierd dude i was just listening to riot outlaw on youtube a diiferent post!!!!, not sure how this works... wierd...anyway i have about 10 copies of this LP Fire Down Below....this album will be buried with me in my grave NO BUKKSHIT!!!
the same album...ten duplicates??? Haa haa... there are ppl like me .... I also have 13 copies of DEATH - Scream Bloody Gore. Not boasting. Just tell you I am your kind of guy although interest in music genre is different. But I have two heavy metal oriented albums of Riot: Thunder steel and Priviledge of Power.
did guy pass away? i dont know anything about him,,i grew up listening to fire down under and narita,,there no vocalist like Guy ,,wish there were more videos
This band bring back so many memories. Thank you so much for posting. They still sound awesome today. So under-rated it defies belief. Guy Speranza was a superb vocalist and Mark Reale a gifted and tasteful lead guitarist. All in all - Awesome! RIP Guy.
if i were stranded on an island with a guitar, amp and one album, this would be the album. got it in 81' and its the biggest influence on my playing style.I vow to bring this music back to the front line and show the world once again what real rock is all about.RIOT RULES, AMEN!!!
Right now the German import version with the five extra tracks is going for about $23.00 US + shipping on eBay and Amazon. I just got the same version off of eBay for $13.50 + $3.00 shipping=$16.50 US.
Saw riot open up for rush in new jersey. I think sandy and guy were from morris town nj by me. I heard guy became a mailman. I saw sandys band after he was out of riot in a small club called the shaow place in dover nj. They we horrible. After the show i asked him to go back to riot. What a dumb thing to say. Even for a 16 year old kid.
Guy Speranza got frustrated with the music industry and quit to work for his fathers N.Y. exterminator business.About 5 years ago Anthrax was looking for a new lead singer and heard where Guy was at and tracked him down and offered him a job and he stated he hates the music industry and turned him down.Which in one way I'm glad, the quality of his singing is too good for anthrax. I have the entire live show from 1981 it was recorded at a private radio party.
I have their albums and also found Riot as a very good band. Speranza had a great voice, different from any one else. After he left, it was not the same anymore - thanks for posting these old videos.

this band kicks ass but i heard rumour that this singer was rob halfords butt-buddy. hes a great singer though, but so is rob, whats this guys name again?
It's called fucked up management!!! That's why they never made it big. How do you play MAJOR venues back to back and come home with nothing to show for it. These Guy's got ripped bad..That's why they got pissed off and QUIT. TRUTH!!!
This is an evergreen masterpiece; perfect for driving to the beach! i love this tune, a three chords song, but it sticks to your brain like sausage grease to a cooker! thumbs up forever, in the year 14785 it'll still be huge!
Fire Down Under is one of the best hard rock albums ever made. Released (or at least reviewed in Sounds (for you UK readers!)) the same month as Pyromania. There is no justice!!
