Nice video, been playing around with my new GoPro HD Hero2, bought two of them. Not sure which I am having more fun with, the plane or the cameras. You should make a trip over to KAVC first Saturday each month for pancake breakfast...
@BeechSundowner Actually I had an hour of raw and when I watched it I called the airspeed right after MP good, RPM good, Engine 3 in the green but edited it out. Didn't want to get busted for Plagiarism. Have to clean the windscreen and move the SPOT before more video. Also will get shower curtain rod and bike mount to place camera behind front row so instruments can get in view as well. Merry Christmas!
I look forward to the instrument view. Will camera view finder be accessible from front row or will it be a point, hope and pray like I had? That was my biggest problem, not being able to see the view finder when I tried instrument view.
@BeechSundowner The nFlightcam has Laser sights when powered up to help aim correctly so there is no viewfinder. Additionally, it has a slide mount from the side so it can be removed from one mount and then mounted on, say, a headset mount for pilot's view. Single switch starts and stops recording. Very well thought out for aviation videos. Also, just plug in headset plug into jack and then your headset into female so it is plug and play into any jack in the aircraft.
@BeechSundowner Records directly in .mov format which is compressed so video is much smaller than most HD cameras. Once I get all the mounts in place I will do a video showing the setup like you did. I wish I had this thing when I got into icing on Thanksgiving Day going to Northeast Philadelphia. Would've made for a great movie and helpful to a lot of people(like me)who had heretofore never seen ice on an airplane.
Not only good to see a video like that, but to see how it's handled "in the real world". I don't envy your go / no go decisions for winter time flying. I can count on one hand in 10 years where ice factored in my briefings.
@BeechSundowner Well, I watched weather for 10 days beforehand and had a good handle on the big picture. I also had 3 outs or I wouldn't have taken off. Fortunately I was flying through a warm front until near my destination so freezing wasn't a factor until the end. I had warmer air behind me, East of me, and below me and I was close enough to the destination that I could finish in a rental car so Get-There-Itis wouldn't even be a player. It was actually a great learning experience.
Fully understand, outs is the key to success. Only one encounter of ice for me (light rime) and my out was to climb into VMC. (text book situation). My cold weather inexperience showed with the flight as I would have filed higher had I expected icing. (top forecast was 5k - filed 6k)
I was amazed how quick it accreted even though I was in the wisps if the stratiform clouds. Destination was partly cloudy and much warmer (OH to KY on my way back to MS) so eventual descent was a non event.

BeechSundowner is one of the reasons I decided to record all my flight lessons. Adding the ATC and COMS is the best part

LOL, Loved Jane's reaction! Did she let you know what she thought yet?
Cheers back to you! MERRY Christmas!
Nice music bed in the background. Have to say, talking what you see, feel, looking at makes the video much more interesting :-)
You just missed my "trademark" airspeed alive / lil back pressure on your takeoff roll LOL. There is always a next time!
