It'll be interesting at the worlds if they play this medley and SFU play their new one that has Mason's too. Think this is much better presented and 100 times better tonally!!!
@piperdmac I prefer it because SFU's is TOO STRAIGHT. FMM put a bit more pulse, phrasing and music into their version I feel.
I used to be a massive fan of SFU and I mean MASSIVE but for me now, they just seem to play things fast with little expression.
They truly are a great band, but I think they are capable of better. Slow things down just a little and express it better. Good examples of this are SLOT, FM and Strathclyde at last year's Worlds.
@jobieloon sfu have a theme whith there pipe tunes. eg sfu pipeband 2008 fffm tend to bounce there tunes which acctully makes thm play in time better :)
This could be the single finest piping performance I've heard. Aside from a couple minor blips, all I can say is OMG. That's sound and precision.

@jobieloon it hit me during the second tune, that FMM and SFU have jig interpretations of mason's apron in their respective medleys!

@jobieloon How is this presented better? It's just straight jig. SFU's version has some unique twists and turns throughout.

Great medley selection, excellent opener as always, nice to hear 'The Mason's Apron' played as a jig too, good luck on Saturday.
