I don't see the issue with these people. 9pm-7am is not at all a bad policy. You should be awake during those hours anyway looking for work, not sleeping. Public parks are there for the fair use of the public, not as a squatting ground. I don't think that homeless people in general are dangerous or undesirable, but at the same time I dont wanna see a bunch of homeless people's tents when I'm trying to enjoy myself with my family in a public park. i come from germany and i have to say that you can see horrible parallels to a dark side of our german history. i don´t know how they "managed" that problem in the usa in the 1930s but i feel with these people. the crisis is also in germany. we also can feel the affects like in the usa but always with a delay of approximately 6 month till 1 year.

I can understand why the police and cities want to control squatter camps and tent cities, but they should recognize their role in creating this situation, and designate places to allow tent towns. They could still enforce drug and crime laws, but they should let them live in the tent instead of jailing people who didn't hurt anyone.

David does not represent all homeless people. No one should have to. He fights for what he believes will help people like him. You do what you do, and thanks for it. There doesn't have to be one answer, it's about a diverity of responses to a problem that is ready to overwhelm us all.
The problem is that police are hired conditional to their lack of capacity to recognize legislated criminality. They don't get beyond their establishment conditioning.

I don't see the issue with these people. 9pm-7am is not at all a bad policy. You should be awake during those hours anyway looking for work, not sleeping. Public parks are there for the fair use of the public, not as a squatting ground. I don't think that homeless people in general are dangerous or undesirable, but at the same time I dont wanna see a bunch of homeless people's tents when I'm trying to enjoy myself with my family in a public park. Its a nuisance.

The city hasn't kicked these people to the curb, they gave them a reasonable curfew. Is it too much to ask for them to be up and clean up at a certain time? Not all of them. I've been watching and have had others watching downtown since mid last October. There are some which use, some of which are not using. Either way, by stopping the dissemination of the drugs, we can cut back on the problems. There are a few good cops on the force who could actually use witnessing and good intel.

Most of the people who are just now finding themselves homeless are responsible people who had no control over the economy. It doesn't matter if you pull in 6 digits a year. A recession proof job today is not necessarily recession proof or depression proof tomorrow. The sad thing is even if you do know the law the police who are paid to uphold the law in a lot of cases are the one's most ignorant that usurp the rights of people. In order for a private corporation to enforce it's laws on the public they would have had to sign an agreement to be ruled under those by-laws. Since they did not the law is useless.
