@koha12 Ha I've got one. I successfully overclocked it to 4.2 Ghz, runs at 60C when doing hardcore stuff, 45 when idling. Intel really made an awesome processor.
@JATO457 what would be the problem in it bieng a liquid, i use liquid metal alloy for a tim, and the melting point of solder is way above the normal operating temperatures (with heat sink) of any cpu, good idea is good. 0/10 for troll
@Rannyfash still, solder melts at relatively low temperatures, if the heatsink or fan fail, then the CPU will melt the solder and it will short out the Mobo
@JATO457 my tim is already molten, it is an alloy called galinstan, such a small amount is used that it sticks to the surface, in bios you can set your pc to shutdown if your cpu temp goes past a certain value, i see no problem with using solder as a tim, regular solder i use melts at 180celcius, well above my 50 celcius bios settings
@scythelord i guess if voltage was passed through it at the time of the heating, when they make processers they actually bake them with the board with preapplied connections, resistivity increases with temperature, cpus break because of thermal runaways for very small fractions of a second at rediculous temperatures
i have amd athlon 64 x2 2.8 Ghz. It runs also at 110°-129° on full load then it shutdowns and idles between 60-75°C Although it has already a heatsink (Stock cooler from AMD)
@airwolf100 The point is that the CPU is running higher than 100C, he proves this by boiling the water. So his claim that runs without the cooler is proven.
Those old Celerys were hard to kill. My first "real" computer (not counting the Vic-20) was an HP with 500Mhz Cel in it. I loved it & it worked REALLY well. The fastest available at that time was either a 667, 677, 766, or 776Mhz .... can't remember which. Pretty sure it was a Pentium though, not a Celeron. I always wanted one, but by the time I could afford it, AMD was making economical 1Ghz+ chips. So got one of them instead. But I'm proud to say I lost my virginity with that snazzy Celeron.
ok, dude. That is not intelligent to do.That processor could blow at any second, and you have your hand over that processor pouring water on it. that processor is getting extremely warm by the second, and processors are known to blow without a heatsink and a fan on. More or less, you will probably blow your hand off if the chip blows while you are pouring water on it.
@MrJojoJumbo i did not know that CPU's had fucking TNT in them.........i have seen capasotors and shit blow...its not that but of a pop. its smaller then thow "throw popet" things for 4th of july.
my 9800gt grafx card got to 110 C before, still works great.
hes fine, unless his powersupply or something goes. a power supply can take a hand off.....not a old as shit cpu, even a new cpu
@MrJojoJumbo dude its not going to explode dumb ass liek really if that has ever happened to you then you are so unlucky you might not even be alive right now so shut the fuck up they dont have tnt in them
did u not understand the sentence "but can result in damaging the processor"
and also i have a friend with i5 getting about 120C be4 becos his cpu fan was faulty and after about 1 year, which is now, it's still working perfectly
im not here to start an argument neither am i here to argue with u
