A wicked man cannot undestand a good man. He cannot understand how he feels or thinks about things. He simply cannot relate. The more we trust Jesus by doing what he says the more we will understand how he thinks and feels about things. Character is the key to understanding; hermeneutics is important, but not as important as character. If Hitler followed the correct hermeneutical procedure would he rightly understand the Bible? No. "Justice" by George MacDonald. Godliness is the opener of eyes.
And remember to think outside the box by verifying every word and every verse that you have been taught to believe is authentic. The most important part of your study should be to first verify the actual source (books of the bible).
Here's a little hint...
Out of the four gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke John), only Matthew and John ever knew Jesus personally and neither Matthew or John ever penned the books that bare their names. Enjoy your trek down the rabbit hole.
The Hebrews were not monotheistic. Point in fact is the Hebrews were a henotheistic people. Henotheism intails choosing one god from a series of equals and the Hebrew people picked one god from this series of gods. You can read in the old testament where the Hebrews were asked or told to chose whom they will serve being it either this god or that god...etc.
"God standeth in the congregation of the mighty, he judgeth among the gods." Psalm 82:1
