This is quality 90's college rock & it also got quite a few spins on AOR radio back in 1995. I remember "Better Than Nothing" being played during the overnight hrs on the Columbus AOR station back in the day. I could never remember the artist. Glad I found this. Pretty good stuff.
why do so few female artists ROCK like this these days?? I think KT Tunstall is pretty much the only one not sucked into the shitty black hole known as crappy pop music
Just finished reading her book, "Everything I'm Cracked Up To Be" not 30 minutes ago. Another one of of those music business mysteries where a great artist somehow fails to connect in a big way. Timing IS everything I guess. Glad to read that she's doing well and happy these days. Better than nothing.... ;-)
@quadleaf95 FNX was the station where I first heard Jen's song "Getaway (February) which is absolute pop perfection. I wish more of her music was uploaded to YT.
I was 14 when this song came out. I loved it then and I still love it now. It's a shame the song didn't have any radio staying power, whereas one-hit wonders like the Toadies (Possum Kingdom) and Spacehog (In The Meantime), which came out around the same time, still get extensive radio play. I like both of the aforementioned songs but why didn't this one get to live on too?
I've been trying to find out the name of this song and finally found it !! The last time I heard it was back in 1995 when it came out ! Thanks for posting !
@brivance1975 I'm right there with you. I remember seeing the video on MTV just one time. I've been searching on the few parts of the lyrics I knew and finally found it today.
@lurrz Tell me about it. I didn't think that the 90's were better than the 80's at the time, but compared to today's music, the 90's ruled. I miss both decades.
The book was a great read...I recommend it highly. I had never heard of her but found the book in my local library. Sounded interesting so I picked it up. Now I'm a fan, love this song!
I cannot believe I found this; I remember hearing this on the local alternative radio station way back in 1995 (ack...I just referred to 1995 as way back! I'm getting old :(
To people who love this great song, your musical taste coincides with mine.Tell me some songs you like. Here are two that have just appeared on youtube i enjoy.Ingrid Chavez-HIPPY BLOOD,and Nightmares on wax-KNOW MY NAME.
Was this really 13 years ago? I remember hearing it for the first time and thinking "nyah, it sounds like about 59 other songs out right now". Today I say the same thing, but somehow I like it a lot more than I did then. I guess I'm just getting old. It's so Gen X; it makes me sad. We gave the world a good kick in the ass back then.
God I love this song. It took me FOREVER to find this song, not many people like it But I do. This song is so fucking awesome. I don't care who hates it I fucking love this song. So does my brother. This is back when music was music.
seriously, the syntax, the formula, the bridge, the other bridge, absolutely brilliant pop craftsmanship. i can't stop listening to it, and i can't get it out of my head. it's so catchy i could just blow my fucking brains out.
I've been trying to find out who sang this blasted song for years!!! That's another long time project off my list... now let me tackle this cold fusion problem.
I wish I could have played drums on this song.. This song should be more known in a household sense than it is. A perfectly written and composed song.
it's like i'm a kid again whenever i listen to this. oh sweet memories. hahaha!
