  • I would NOT be such a cool guy by now if I didn't play the shit out of Phantasy Star II on my Megadrive as a child.

  • The best and most nostalgic RPG of all time.

  • I think Phantasy Star II had the most unqiue box-cover of any rpg or video game, its just bizzare seeing the 2 main characters as older versions of themselves.

  • Yeah, Pressure!

  • One of my favorite games.

  • This game was amazing. PS2 and 4 were the best RPGs.

  • The Prologue is probably my fav here. Just so illustrative of a sad fate like Darum's, and well Algol's past.

  • How is Rise and Fall not included on this? The battle music is critical to the PSII experience, especially given how much time you'd spend doing that.

  • Only time I was close to crying due to a game was when Nei died :(

  • @aneeko

What was so sad about it was she had so much more to live for than just about any other character who ends up dying.

(Of course the original Nei's death was sad too.)

  • @Timsonourside Neifirst?

  • plyed sooo much of this game sooo many hours..days... weeks ... n months... when sm1 says it was soo hard i feel soo proud of myself... i beat the game several times i think.. loved the music... brilliant .. n so was the characters

  • Best. Video. Game. Ending. Ever.

    Epic music, too.

  • This Phantasy Star had the coolest characters...remember Nei's fate ?

  • @Silfe113 sniffle... neeeeeei!

  • arguably the hardest rpg i have played!

  • even with that walktrough-book they had added?

  • the walkthrough only went so far in the game if i remember right...after that, it was either sink or swim!

  • welcome to the clone labs ;-) 2:56

  • Passed so much time on this game!

We had no Wow back then :))

  • I tried playing Phantasy Star 2 a while ago but didn't get very far. I'll definitely give it another shot one of these days (like after I play the first game in the series).

  • which song is played right before you fight mother brain?

  • The song played at the dams 3:29 and the dungeons in dezo 4:51 have to be my favorite songs of this game.

  • all that atari music is thanks to kraftwerk :D

  • i agree :O

  • Brilliant. Always loved the music of Phantasy Star 2

  • Yeah! I was kind of disappointed that they brought her back in the Sega Ages version. Detracted from the ambiguity of the ending, when you consider all that Rolf sacrificed (or not).

Favorite series of all time. And the music played no small part in that.

  • well said.

  • lol first this THEN Aerith haha

  • Haven't played much of this one. I was watching the top 10 Sega games over at ScrewAttack when they spoiled that one of the main characters die. First Aeris, now this! =P

  • Phantasy Star II was the best of the 4 I think, and it also had the best music of the series.

  • @TypicalJoe1900 It had some good music, but I think some of the themes of this game were either cheesy or just bad. Mostly those on Dezo. I'd say the third game has the best music. Even if it is the black sheep of the four games, it at least has that going for it.

  • @organs silent zone was pretty good, actually

  • @ugoplatamia125 You're going to have to enlighten me as to what piece of music that is.

  • @TypicalJoe1900

I don't know if it is the best... I mean there all quite different

PS1: dungeon crawler and way ahead of is time

PS2: great storyline, music and so on

PS3: soundtrack's good... gameplay is... hum... great replay value with the weddings

PS4: total fan service (music from PS1, wink to PS2 and 3) great for fans...

I finished like 5 times PS2 but I have to admit that as a 29 years old, PS1 just blew my mind when I was a child

  • @TypicalJoe1900 They all had good music but I personally think it's a tie between Phantasy Star 2 and 3 when it comes to music.

  • I started getting interested around 2:10.

  • good songs i like then a lot. i always hoped a prog rock/metal version

  • Great work you've done - quite the project. Can you include the music for the final fight scene (Motherbrain)? It's one of the best pieces composed for this game! Thanks.

  • A great soundtrack, definitely one of the highlights of the Genesis era. PSIV was great too, but this soundtrack really captures one's imagination.

    Great upload ! Thank you.

  • I wonder what happened to him after he quit SEGA in 1991? There is another game that I know that he composed in the same year Phantasy Star 2 was released. Its called Super Daisenryaku, and it was the Genesis port of Systemsoft's military strategy game.

  • i love this game, i can never beat this game, it's to dam hard for me, i'm not used to phantasy star 2, i'm only used to phantasy star online.

  • Bo wrote this, he was one of the best.

  • i love the music that starts at 02:08!

  • agree with you^^

  • ye lol

  • i think it was his home..

  • This was so on my request list! Thank you!!!!!
