Just fixing my running form, I feel very comfortable and running seems a "little" easier! Hips, Back and inner calf doesn't hurt much anymore. Good stuff!

  • foot striking is the the most important part of running properly and he didn't mention it. Preventing injury is the most important part of running. Most people bang their heels when they run which places a lot of stress on the knee.

  • LOL this is stupid. First of all, there is no "correct" running form. There are ways of making yourself more efficient, but there is no universal "right" way for everybody. A lot of what he mentioned... like your feet being externally rotated aka duck feet, are due to bone structure which you cannot manipulate. If you try to correct this, you will likely injure yourself. Also, the fastest runners in the world often have swinging arm cadence. He also didn't mention forefoot striking...

  • @sizzlexc It's true, there's no "right" way to run for everybody, but there are some things no one should do, or they could hurt themselves. If you say he mentioned a lot of running problems due to bone structure, give more than one example. Some people just hold their feet that way, and have no skeletal problems. The only reason anyone needs their arms to run is for balance, and then only if you stumble. Regardless, he's a runner. Win a major marathon by a mile before you intend to correct him.

  • those are all excellent tips. However, emphasis on less impact is, IMO, much more important. Unfortunately, it seems to me that this issue is still being missing from good coaches all over. Any time you see the head bouncing up and down; that's inefficient running. Even sadder, we have incredible elite world class runners who are running with way too much bounce; inefficiency. No matter how the arms are swinging, no matter how far the toes are pointed out; more important is no bounce

  • Brilliant. Thank you. I run on my heals which is not good. When I start running on my mid foot going forward to my toes my calves screeeeeem and all the ligaments in my foot get tight.

    Is there a way how to pace myself?

  • If you want to help learn how to pace yourself run a treadmill. A treadmill is a great way to get an idea of how to pace. I use a GPS watch to I can see what pace i'm running at so, at workouts for example, I know if I need to slow down or speed up. Pacing is something that you pick up on as you become a runner.
