Call of Duty should give up the whole Single Player system all together. The only reason I played it at all is for trophies.
No wait, I take that back. The reason they keep the single player mode is to suck in the poor saps that dont have internet. Than it gives them a reason to buy the game too.

the thing about comparing cod and this is that cod is an arcade style game where you are more like a lone mercenary fighting with and against other mercenaries their is no real team play while game is based completely on teams and if someone tries to play this game like cod they would be defeated before you even got started
@CarefreeWarlord Yes, and it really depends on who you are. I couldn't say if you'll get bored with this fast or not. It has an in-depth leveling system in place that lets you customize your character pretty good. .

As a FPS lover, i have to agree on some of the comments here. COD is overhyped, but i do play it cuz all my friends only choose to play it and none other FPS out there.
M.A.G had the right idea, and it is enjoyable but it started to get repetitive. dont know how it is these days. Always hated the name tho. Massive action game? lols
Dice did a great job for BFBC2 multiplayer and it surely deserves more credit then it got.

@ExtremeBogom For suppression, the countdown doesn't really fit, but for the bigger objective based modes, it makes sense. This is just the simple deathmatch gameplay meant to be a training mode for people.
@GTAxooox Sometimes. Occasionally it'll take a few more shots than normal to put people down which is a reporting issue. It's usually pretty smooth, though. The only thing is the knife kills. They never work for me, but others can knife me from ten feet away sometimes. I'm guessing that's a lag issue as well. Overall, it's usually pretty smooth which is great considering the number of people playing in each mode.
MAG is a fun game but it definitely got waaay too much hype for what it was worth. I found enjoyment in that MAG was a online shooter with a health bar rather than that regenerative crap most shooters have now. I personally found alot of similarities between it and Battlefield 2. It is a shame that, unlike Call of Duty or Bad Company, there were no singleplayer modes to bolster up the multiplayer of MAG. It would of made it more worthwhile. Oh well, Zipper's should do fine with Socom 4 instead.

@teh2Dgamer Hoping not but at this rate it'll probably become a trend. Have you seen the Killzone 3 beta? They haven't drastically changed the game but there are some definite COD influences being thrown into the mix with the new multiplayer.

What I'm saying with Socom 4 is they are going to change the formula which is going to alienate the true fans, but changing the formula or not isn't going to get CoD fans to leave CoD, so the game won't have a market. Just curious: Why is this in standard definition? I can understand not having an HDTV to play last generation or older games but.... MAG? Really? MAG is a pretty game. It deserves better.

So basically, I have no use for graphics whoring. For the price of an HDTV, I could buy a shit-ton of retro games, or, hell, anything else from any of my other hobbies. The TV I have works just fine.

I also can't stand the fact that the game plays for you half the time by giving you cheap crap like helicopters, or in Black Ops, RC Cars and Turrets. CoD pretends to be Battlefield minus the big battles, and it caters to playing like a bitch. I honestly don't seem myself buying another CoD game again. It's not my style.

@fpsisfun CoD is the most epic Casual gaming FPS series there is. Halo used to be, but CoD has surpassed it. The series has been pushed on hype alone when most of those playing it, haven't really played a lot of other FPS games to begin with. Maybe some Halo, but they don't know their heads from their asses in real FPS gaming.
It sold so well, because it's the cool thing to own. It's all about bandwagon idiots in gaming. It's all marketing like Britteny Spears.

Instead of improving on design elements of the original and making a real sequel, they instead just went for the mainstream CoD style gameplay. I like KZ2 better than CoD, but I wish it would have differentiated itself apart more from the mainstream style.

okay basically if your going to like mag i strongly recommend getting a mic, finding an active clan (go on to forums.mag.com and post a topic there asking for a clan. There will be loads of replies), check out the directors geirbiscohn, ggamori and enyproductionsare. Any more quieries ask me. Ive played the game for about 290 hours now :D
@Randomtei I have a mic, and I'm not much one for the whole clan thing. I'm more of a loner online, and I'd never have the time to play any scheduled clan battles either.
I never got round to picking up MAG but I did play the beta for a while. The thing which impressed me most was the level of customization in weapons. The biggest downside for me, apart from a lack of players using a headset on PSN, is that it relies heavily on team-work, which in itself is a very good thing but I often felt I was a one man army when taking over objectives without any kind of back-up from team-mates.
@Tigervampuk It can be like that sometimes, but even without a mic, the squad leader just points out an objective and you're squad is supposed to go for that objective if they're playing right. It mostly depends on the leader. As for the mic thing, I have a usable mic, but I don't use it myself. Granted, I've noticed that PSN gamers are less annoying than Live gamers, but I still don't have much to say to anyone online.
@teh2Dgamer There's a good chance I'll pick up MAG for cheap at some point as I enjoyed playing with the large number of players. I also liked parachuting into an objective. I know what you mean about the mic; I mainly buy online games for my 360 and single player games on PS3 but even when playing on Xbox Live I tend to stick to party chat to avoid idiots.
