i am happy that its all cool in developed countries now. but. we consume mainly stuff produces in asia. where NOTHING has changed. the same.... so how can we say things are changed, they are not
unions are killing america, there not a fit for today. business must be in control, cut costs big time to keep up,and americans must understand there's going to be change and not for the good, at least not in weekly pay, but the business will regain power in the world market. which is great of america. it's the 1930's all over again and working for the 1950's
@hotrod4you2 Is this snark? Big businesss who own the government are killing America. Unions did not run up the federal debt, that was the politicians.
R.I.P to those who lost their lives. Greedy pigs locking the doors. Or even not telling the 9th floor about the fire. That could have saved even more people. Chilling to think that jumping was your last hope. Seeing death flying up at you. And to watch from the streets. Hearing the sounds, seeing it all. 100 years later we will still carry your cause and story! Uprising by Margaret Haddix is about this event. Read it people!
Inequality is as bad for the rich as it is for the poor. Society is poorer as inequality becomes greater. The impacts of inequality show up in poorer health, lower educational attainment, higher crime rates, lower social capital, lower trust, lower co-operation the more unequal the society becomes.
Among the wealthiest nations, Japan was found to have the least inequality between the wealthiest and poorest, and the US and the UK to have the highest.
Many in our society don't really care what's happening in Bangladesh or Chinese or Pakistani factories but what they must realize is that as the elite have succeeded in exploiting the workers of other countries, it has given them the power and impetus to bring it back to America. It is happening RIGHT NOW! Scott Walker, Rick Scott, Paul LaPage, Chris Christie, Rick Snyder and many others are destroying YOUR rights, RIGHT NOW!
Well as you know, politicians need money and power and so the business world gets with them and they all benefit. Take away the rights of the regular people so that the bottom line will be attained. Take away all the rights including those of teacher. Remember they really just want us all under their thumb. We mean nothing to them. We are just bodies that produce. Teachers, workers-we mean nothing. We are a dime a dozen.
"the American people allow corporations to have laws to protect their trademarks and their products, but we can’t have laws to protect the rights of human beings. Until that changes, until there’s legislation, we’re going to just be in this race to the bottom." CHARLES KERNAGHAN
Anyone who believes that Unions are a bad thing needs to be born to a poor mother in one of these 3rd world countries that is then forced to go to work for 12 hours a day for 6 days a week at 8 yrs old. You TALK THE TALK, you walk the walk! This is happening all over the world. How many of our young men died, their names are engraved on a monument in DC called The Wall? Well pick up a pair of Gap jeans.... the label reads: MADE IN VIETNAM! What did those 18 &19 year olds die for? GREED

There was a time when unions were necessary. Not so much anymore. Ayn Rand was right when she said watch out for the day when destroyers of real money, Gold, come in and swap it for paper money.
If unions were really looking out for the workers this would be their top priority. But its not. The unions today are nothing but a band of extortionists and thugs. I would just as soon spit on the bastards as see em.
“I would be a traitor to these poor burned bodies if I came here to talk good fellowship. We have tried you good people of the public and we have found you wanting…. I know from my experience it is up to the working people to save themselves.” -Rose Schneiderman
Look at the pictures of the dead from either event, and you have your chant: What does unregulated capitalism look like? THIS is what unregulated capitalism looks like!
@Bartleby1701 Regulated or unregulated, the symptoms will always be present. We can get rid of the problem if we can just get rid of capitalism. It's sickening. Money simply turns you into a slave for the already-established corporations.
@TheFrankFactor I'm not sure that Ayn Rand would find sweatshops acceptable. But the people who are currently co-opting her philosophy and using it to bolster their own twisted agendas are the ones who sicken me, and would sicken Ayn Rand as well. For those who believe that objectivism stands for "profit by any means" obviously have read the Cliff's Notes to Atlas Shrugged, if even that. I doubt that most of them have ever bothered to pick up the book in the first place.

There are no words - This is why we NEED unions. This is why we NEED standards to protect workers from the predations of the corporations.
