what are lines 23-30 for? You don't seem to ever use xmlDoc or menuXML other than there.
Are they really needed? I saw a video for an MP3 player that parsed XML just fine using only the XML object and your code seems to do the same in the for-each loop.
thanks verry helpfull i dident know flash was this confussing. i got a question how would i put pictures instead of colours and also how would i make the boxes link to a web page thanks =)

great pro presentation - I am a video trainer for after effects and final cut- I am going to launch my youtube channel later this month - HOW do you get so many viewers? 12k plus - how do you get traffic? thanks in advance for your reply
that can impossibly be the easiest way to create 3 boxes with info on a grey background! Cant believe how much info is contained in something that simple. Isnt there a easier way to make what you made? As far as Ive understand there are programs that translate what you make into codes for you? Or am I way off here
@anandavimal You could have done it much easier by only using AS3 if you were good at it, but i think the point of this video wasn't to create 3 textboxes.
Thanks for all your work in producing the most content I can find from one person on Flash/PHP/ActionScript and many other hard to grasp web design problems. This vid helped me create a XML based drop down menu for a flash player that I use to display mp4 movies. I also used the XML data to give track, author and album description. Keep up the great tutorials. I cant thank you enough.
Thank you so much for this tutorial!! I needed to find a basic tutorial for XML and then you made one thank you very much for explaining it so deeply!
Thank-you very much for this tutorial, Adam! I am Misterplix6 on DevelopPHP. Thank-you so much. I have no issues working with XML. This tutorial is great, and it explained it all!
Thank-you once again for taking 30 minutes out of your life to make a tutorial about this. :)
This is a good tutorial Adam. And I know that you already created a dynamic XML photo gallery, but is there any way you could show how to parse the XML to put a basic jpg onto the stage. I'm sure you hate request, but I was having some difficulty when reading the comments from the source file. I think if understood the basics under the hood I would grasp it, and better decipher it. Anyways thanks for all the great tutorials I will keep following!

Thanks for tutorial. =D
I have given them all an ID, any idea on how to make a page that has all the links on then you click on one and you get the results of one entry.
so if i click on Paul i get his number and all hid details.
OR A next button to go onto the next persons info. so its not all on one page.
Thanks.

var myXMLURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest(XML_URL);
That is the code I have in line 21???
Thank you
