  • This is by far the most impressive harpsichord work I've ever heard. Thanks both to Bach's and Leonhardt's talent.

Many thanks for this rare piece ...

  • bravo!

  • I will miss this wonderful musician.

  • Isn't there a second part? Originally it wouldn't finish here, would it?

  • @olivleonardo yes it would

  • @olivleonardo

Yes, it did finish here! There were some dances leading up to this, but the man wanted to finish off with a show-stopper.

BTW, I've heard versions of this from full orchestra, chorus & organ down to just handbells. Favourite - John Williams guitar - shame about the squeaks!

  • @baroque6hiro Hello. This sounds like Jacques Drillon's transcription for harpsichord of Bach's Chaconne. Is that really played by Gustav Leonhardt or ? Because as far as I know, he never played it in concert or recorded it... If I'm wrong, I'm interested in the reference for the recording/concert ! Thx a lot !

  • @MisesEnForce This trsnscription by Leonhardt .Off cource, this sound is by Leonhardt.

Maybe, LP was selled in the world. But I think CD was selled JAPAN only in 1995.This CD is BWV1002,1004,1006.CD no.:YMCD-1023 . DHM recording in1975.

  • @baroque6hiro Thx a lot ! I wasn't aware of that recording -> I've ordered it right now from amazon !

  • @MisesEnForce I heard him more than 15 years ago, playing this chaconne. It was in Paris, Salle Gaveau. He played all the suite for violin. I can not remember if this was the same transcription but this one is very beautiful and, as usual, very credible.

  • thanks maestro!

RIP querido Gustav.

  • RIP Maestro!

  • Paz a su alma, Dios le bendiga.

  • Maestro dei Maestri ...

    dear Gustav...

  • @Vagaus82 Yes, I tried to detach the link of this recording but it failed. I will send a message to you.

  • RIP

  • Is this a version from his own?

  • @Gusk20 Your comment makes me to cry....

  • Rest in Peace great Master. Now you have the chance to play this for Bach in the heaven!

  • @Gusk20 Oh, I made a mistake. Your comment makes me cry, not to cry. I've just learned about this at school today.

  • Fantastico!!!

  • :'''(

  • R.I.P Maestro...

  • RIP
