My reaction was virtually the same as yours. But now it's growing on me. Brodus Clay the monster would probably win a few matches and be quickly lost in the shuffle after a couple of months. But the Funkasaurus has the potential to be one of those memorable characters that could end up being surprisingly popular.

I agree that the Brodus Clay debut was garbage. I grew up in Florida during the 70s watching Gordon Solie and going to the matches at the Miami Beach Convention Center every Wednesday night. I seen more matches in a year than 99% of todays fans will see in their entire lives. As far as wrestlers go I seen nearly everyone of that era including Andre. I seen Terry Funk win the NWA world title from Jack Brisco. To me thats wrestling not this garbage they call Brodus Clay.

@vivilakers Man, Ernest is probably one of my top five wrestlers- he was gold on the mic. But I remember him more from WCW. He was one of the few good things left in WCW as it was going down the tubes- so people never got to see how great he was. He was awesome in the ring- dancing, doing karate, just totally off the chain. Anyway, I don't care that Brodus has his music. I'm loving this Funkasaurus gimmick. He probably won't be as great as The Cat but it's damn entertaining.
In a way this was a smart move by WWE, because Brodus as a monster heel he would be third tier next to Mark Henry and Kane. Also who I think should be a monster heel when he returns if they go with the gimmick is Ryback, because WWE trademarked it. Ryback would make an awesome monster heel instead of Brodus.

Actually he was a great answer... Every wrestler now is just a generic body built guy and they all look the same. No Gimmick, Not entertaining, and doesn't stand out. Brodus Clay already stands out due to him having a gimmick, not having that body built structure, and hes very refreshing. He brings back a taste of the 80's and 90's with this gimmick. And im already loving it. Sure the Godfather pretty much did this already.. but its great to see something that IS Entertaining and not BORING

More like "2012 Dusty Rhodes" or "The Cat 2.0", but I actually loved his "debut". One of very few reasons to tune in each week. Initially I didn't know what to think, but once I got over the shock, I can't stop watching!! WWE actually has a character opposed to just another......well, boring person. This will be BIG, just wait and see.
WWE's best decision. I'm glad he's not going to be a dominant heel like (Kozlov, Ezekiel, Big Show, Mark Henry, Mason Ryan and others before). The gimmick doesn't look like a WHC or WWE champion gimmick which is also ok cause I was afraid he will be pushed to the moon. It was pretty funny.
BTW: Hawkins got jobbed. The Midcard Mafia videos weren't a good idea ;] I knew he'd be punished... Next week Reks will be the on to take on Brodus...
Can you honestly say you wanted another monster heel completely devoid of personality? That gets really old really quickly, and with Brodus having to limit his moveset pretty heavily due to his size (ie not really being capable of "flashy" spots), this could definitely work for him. Shit, everyone seems to be entertained so far, and isn't that what's important? I'll take Funkasaurus over white Mark Henry any day of the week, man.
At first, I was REALLY shocked, disappointed, and a bit mad (considering he thinks of a cool gimmick for himself, has to watch it go to someone else, gets kept off of TV for months, and gets this bad gimmick).
However, the match had me laughing in a good way (due to his in-ring antics and Hawkins' first reaction), I was actually head-bobbing to his music after the match, and he's actually ON TV. Now, I ain't even mad.
Here's hoping that he continues to make the best out of this!

@vivilakers Man, Ernest is probably one of my top five wrestlers- he was gold on the mic. But I remember him more from WCW. He was one of the few good things left in WCW as it was going down the tubes- so people never got to see how great he was. He was awesome in the ring- dancing, doing karate, just totally off the chain. Anyway, I don't care that Brodus has his music. I'm loving this Funkasaurus gimmick. He probably won't be as great as The Cat but it's damn entertaining.

In a way this was a smart move by WWE, because Brodus as a monster heel he would be third tier next to Mark Henry and Kane. Also who I think should be a monster heel when he returns if they go with the gimmick is Ryback, because WWE trademarked it. Ryback would make an awesome monster heel instead of Brodus.

Actually he was a great answer... Every wrestler now is just a generic body built guy and they all look the same. No Gimmick, Not entertaining, and doesn't stand out. Brodus Clay already stands out due to him having a gimmick, not having that body built structure, and hes very refreshing. He brings back a taste of the 80's and 90's with this gimmick. And im already loving it. Sure the Godfather pretty much did this already.. but its great to see something that IS Entertaining and not BORING

After 20 some years of watching wrestling, and getting to the point we're at now. I'm tired of going all ''internet'' on every single thing WWE does, like some jaded critic. Forget that...THIS...was fun I loved the Run DMC attire, the dancers, the throw back Ernest miller song, the talking in ring. I assume they raised the mic around the ring. It was just entertaining as all hell. Im GLAD they didn't ''Go as plan''. That way we quit acting like critics. I love it

Henry plays the monster heel far better then anyone ( i dont take kane as a monster heel ,he's more then that) we don't need anyone else doing it let alone a rookie who just debuted , let WWE come up with more gimicks unlike the same ol same ol , monster /cocky / im better then everyone heel , or the stale/superman face gimick.

More like "2012 Dusty Rhodes" or "The Cat 2.0", but I actually loved his "debut". One of very few reasons to tune in each week. Initially I didn't know what to think, but once I got over the shock, I can't stop watching!! WWE actually has a character opposed to just another......well, boring person. WWE's best decision. I'm glad he's not going to be a dominant heel like (Kozlov, Ezekiel, Big Show, Mark Henry, Mason Ryan and others before). The gimmick doesn't look like a WHC or WWE champion gimmick which is also ok cause I was afraid he will be pushed to the moon. It was pretty funny.
BTW: Hawkins got jobbed. The Midcard Mafia videos weren't a good idea ;] I knew he'd be punished... Next week Reks will be the on to take on Brodus...

Can you honestly say you wanted another monster heel completely devoid of personality? That gets really old really quickly, and with Brodus having to limit his moveset pretty heavily due to his size (ie not really being capable of "flashy" spots), this could definitely work for him. Shit, everyone seems to be entertained so far, and isn't that what's important? I'll take Funkasaurus over white Mark Henry any day of the week, man.

At first, I was REALLY shocked, disappointed, and a bit mad (considering he thinks of a cool gimmick for himself, has to watch it go to someone else, gets kept off of TV for months, and gets this bad gimmick).
However, the match had me laughing in a good way (due to his in-ring antics and Hawkins' first reaction), I was actually head-bobbing to his music after the match, and he's actually ON TV. Now, I ain't even mad.
Here's hoping that he continues to make the best out of this!
