Whatever, amara..you think what you like; I haven't heard you give any hard cold facts of your own, that are even pertinent. Russo has done his research, as I said before. No one's making a messiah out of him; he knows what he's talking about plain and simple. You say you live in the UK and so how does that make you qualified to make assessments on our country and what it takes to make it run correctly, or what our Constitution is about?

And what research have you done? Reading mainstream publications by bought out journalists and newspapers?? Aaron Russo has DONE HIS HOMEWORK, and has had personal experience WITH high ranking individuals who have informed him! His material is well researched and thorough! I doubt you can say the same!

Not being able to fund a budget deficit means no investment spending which means no public schools, no injecting investment to create jobs, terrible roads and the general lack of any of the normal social serices ect. The same thing happened during the collapse of the former soviet union. Both experienced hyperinflation as a result of their central bank loosing it's power.

As far as the flexibilty of the dollar and all the other funtions of the Fed you described, those could all be executed just as well if not better under the authority of the U.S. Treasury instead of a cartel. BTW the standard of living in the U.S. was much higher when there was no debt to speak of.

You can't deny any a central banking system exerts a stabilizing influence. Case in point; small business loans in Mali and Ghana. Mali's government had a free trade approach and Ghana's decided to connect peg their currency to the dollar. Mali's currency was washed up and down, and so you have crazy inflation. Ghana meanwhile has a stable currency. Business prospers because business people can afford to pay their loans and get steady business rather than a decrease because, unlike in Mali.

The Fed could be seized and federalised at any time by executive order. Such order would have to be upheld by the supreme court because it would be constitutionally sound.

1. The Constitution gives the authority to issue currency to the Department of the Treasury, only. Check out the story of president Andrew Jackson. 2. America is a constitutional republic, not a democracy. Also, gold is relatively stable.

The fact that you do not make a distinction between direct democracy and representative democracy and the 'it is or it isn't ' tone suggests a lack of understanding of the political concept. Please suggest and alternative to the government borrowing from the private sector to finance investment that resultis in economic growth. and most of what it pays isn't interest to the fed, it pays to those who buy bonds via the fed and much of that is nominal and not real interest.

Again, the question I'm concerned with is 'TO WHAT EXTENT is the rule of law upheld in America' I have no problem with a long standing broadly utilitarian ( Read a macroeconomics text book for confirmation) constitutional convention being taken as comparable to a constitutional amendment. Why? Take the economic and political ramifications of getting rid of the 'unconstitutional' Fed and you get an American version of the economic and social problems facing failed states like Somalia.

Somalia is not a false analogy, it is a very good example of what happens when there is no income tax system and no working indipendent central bank.
The collapse of taxes collected by the government creates a vaccum for taxes collected by the mafia. In Somalia the government stopped collecting taxes and ceased to exist so you started having local thugs do the same, but did not give the community any services.

However, Ama, 'cynical' & 'naive' are relative terms. Actually a 1 oz. gold coin has the same buying power today as it did in the Roman Empire, and I mean actually purchasing with gold, not converting it to currency. A 1oz. gold coin get you a quality suit, pair of shoes & a belt. As it did in ancient Rome.(toga, sandals & belt) Maybe not Hermes, but good quality not Kmart. And I have a huge problem with taking a constitutoinal convention in place of an amendment.

Mathematically Provable? O.K. Prove it! Of Course you'll need the actual figures to do that. The Fed hasn't opened it's books for auditing in a long time. And maybe I was trying not to be to blunt before but I shouldn't have used the word "relatively' as golds' value is constant, it's price fluxuations merely reflect the buying power of the dollar at any given point. inflation is not really prices going up (costs) but the value of the dollar declining. (buying power)

The flexibility of the dollar is generally a good thing. It affects everything from the amount imported and exported to the availability of bank loans and aggregate demand. It needs to adjust to changing market conditions. It's a balancing act between different interests, the most important of which is the trade off between economic growth and the unemployment rate and inflation. Inflation must be kept slightly positive if the economy is to grow at a decent rate.

Bankers often end up owning all, & people get mad once they catch on. I applaud anyone w/ talents who uses them to become wealthy... BUT, only if done honestly. Fractional reserve banking isn't honest; fictional reserve, even less so. You are a calculating advocate of economic tricks, amaravajra. The institutions you defend have tricked & enslaved my country. Honesty & knowledge of history is the answer, not private banking cartels & the myth of a stable fiat $.

Most of what you've posted is irrelevant anyway, I regard the constitution as a means to maintaining a certain level of Human rights through power checking rather than as anything with intrinsic value. I really don't care if it's constitutional or not, I care about what would happen to the American people if you removed it or federalized it.
