It's that kind of blanket. The "fuzzy" blanket. Cats love it (our cats do). I think it reminds cats of being with their mothers!

My old cat used to do this a lot with stuffed animals when he was young.

I think Max is having a flashback to his mom's nipple. I've seen cat's do that before to certain pieces of fabric. Oh well, just another in a long line of crazy cat behaviors.

Mine was fixed but was abandoned by his mom when he was 2 weeks old when I found him. Its only the fleece or fuzzy blankets I take pics its so cute, he does it to release stress and as a comfort thing.

But yeah I used to take naps on the floor with my piggie and my two cats or take them outside with hubby for a picnic.

A lot of cats do this, particularly Siamese cats for some reason. My cat did this as well and I was weirded out by it at first. I told my vet about it during a check-up and he told me that cats who do this were usually weaned from their mothers too soon. It's a nursing behavior that gives them comfort. My cat would sit on my lap and do this to my shirt - when he would finally quit, I would be covered in kitty spit. =)

My cat Henry used to do this when I was a child. He would nead and suck on our clothes. It was always said that he was taken away from his mom too soon as a kitten. And he protested just as much if we tried to move him. Too cute.

He's what you call a "wool sucker." A lot of Siamese do it. He's "kneading" with his paws to bring the mother's milk down and he's sucking on the blanket as if he were nursing. Has nothing to do with mating.

my cat merlin does the same thing to every plush item . he will drag around pajama bottoms and pillows and large stuffed animals and do that everywhere . Your kitty was not going to let it go so easily .

No, it's called kneading. It's a instinct left over from when he was a kitten, and is used to help the flow of milk while nursing.

i know this is a year ago but, i think thats actually "suckling" he's kneading the blanket and suckling it. as in like with his mother for milk. its probably one of his rituals and a ______ aw dang i completely blanked on the word i wanted to say. instinctive? no thats not it......argg!!
